Fractured x Albion Online
-
Hey Devs, pros and cons? Why play Fractured instead Albion Online?
-
There are plenty of titles that inspired us to make Fractured. In the MMO department I can name a few:
- Ultima Online for the freedom and the emotions given by exploration.
- Shadowbane for its town building and conquest mechanics.
- Haven & Hearth for its survival side.
- Guild Wars 1 / 2 for its character building.
- Vanguard for its race characterization.
- Talking modern stuff, I could name Albion Online - or better, its dev studio Sandbox Interactive.
- etc etc etc.
Outiside of the MMO world, classic single player Action RPGs for the exciting and skill-based combat - you name them, there are so many! Tabletop games (D&D above all) and classic RPGs games (BG, Planescape) also inspired us for their character attributes, styles of magic, alignment...
I could go on forever.
Of course, most of the games I've mentioned are just inspirations - don't start thinking Fractured has, say, survival elements as hardcore as H&H - that's not the case
In the end, we've felt that in the sandbox MMO world there was still a lot of room for innovation and I hope what we've revealed so far and the future spotlights will convey Fractured's potential in full!
And if you ask questions, then place them in the same topic

Albion promised EVE in fantasy setting, ended up being sandboxy WoW. I regret that i supported that game.
-
fractured is what AO should have been.
-
Becouse albion is a moba with some mmo settings around wich lost 90% of its active playerbase in less then a year? Eve and trust me i play it since 2004 grow for over 10 years, albion is already a dead game with no chance to be a big hit anymore, that ship has sailed long time ago. The game was more interesting in beta then release, they dumbed it down to a point that it lost any flavour.

This is so accurate! Albion could have been so much fun. Sadly they turned it into a piece of rotten bread..
-
@vicious Couldn't agree more.
Had more fun in beta 2 than I did in any other version of the game, especially release.
-
Because Fractured is being presented pretty clearly, and Albion was presented in a shady manner. In fact Albion was so shady that PayPal did no question asked refunds of the founder's packs.
-
@vitols666 AMEN! To that.

Sandobox wow? that game have nothing like wow you should not talk about things you have not played.
EvE is still under 1milion player base right? so should it not be considered a game to focus on.

as of right now Steam charts is saying:
Eve Online 3,364 currently online
Albion Online 733 currently onlineI'd pick EO over AO anyday.
-
@jetah I was talking about succesfull MMORPGs AO is not one for sure (I's a dead game for me). I was just lolling on those considering EvE a good base.
-
@finland
You don't need millions of players. So long as the few are paying its a successful game.
-
@jetah Point of view.

Are these the Steam numbersI'm stupid ;P.. EVE has around 17k - 20K concurrent members. Not sure about Albion tho.
-
@staticsprite Albion Online has under 15k concurrent players if not then 10k players.
-
Wow that's not too many. Didn't know that.
-
Both games have its pros and cons and I dont think they are necessarily comparable
-
AO is actually doing fine and is getting better with everey update imho. I hope Fractured will do well for some healthy competition.
-
hodor, hodor.
