Young player protection hour counter
-
After discussing with some players which participated in previous tests, it seems that the hour counter of the young player protection didn't reset from the last test.
I didn't have it at all, and indeed had lost it in the previous test.
Others started with 6 or 18 hours already counted.
-
Heh, I also had no player protection, I thought it was my fault tho XD
-
I had 40 hours. Of which i used 11. This was my first test though. If all data is wiped shouldn't everyone start with the same?
-
weird my character had 80 hours. Is that the correct amount. I have played most alpha's but missed the last one.
Did it get added each time and become cumalative?
-
i had 80k knowledge points, but 40 hours

@spoletta @OlivePit @DarthJafo @Vialli correct, we forgot to reset the counter :S we're going to subtract the old numbers from the current ones to determine the actual playtime in this test to assign the 2h+ title

So the next test is coming up quickly?

Idk how you came to this assumption from his answer xD

That's spoiler warfare 101.
Ask them many times and completely out of nowhere so that eventually they inadvertently leak something!
-
Well, its kinda the language he used. "we're going to subtract the old numbers from the current ones to determine the actual playtime in THIS test"
This kind of implies next. Whereas THAT implies previous. I'm about 80% certain its simply the wrong tense that was used and 20% hopeful its a hidden message of sorts.
Also, in the chat of THAT test he said the next test would be coming soon. Add to that the fact the founders packs have changed from Alpha to Beta access and well...its adding up.

If we lost our young player protection in the previous test and started this test with nothing how will that work? I know that @spoletta didn't start with any, nor did I, and I am sure that there were a few others as well. Maybe I am just missing something here.

They will reset the new player protection for the coming beta, dont worry about that. They did for each of the previous multi week tests.

Wasn't sure if you were replying to me, but in case you were, that wasn’t what I was concerned about. My worry was, that if @Prometheus is using the difference in the timer between the two previous tests then what about those that had no timer at all? There were folks that had lost their young player protection before the last multi-week test ended. That meant they started this last test without any timer at all. Nothing to subtract, therefore no way to determine time played with this method. Would love to know if I am just missing something or if there is an answer for this problem.

So sorry, I got mixed up there.
I took what Prometheus said to mean that there is a counter that just keeps track of all player metrics and that is what they are using to check for the award since they forgot to reset it for the test.
Thus why he tagged us in his response- a way to alleviate or worries.
-
i think it was also meant for that 2 hour playtime counter to get the shaper of syndesium title.

To be honest, I hope that is what he meant, and that I am the one that is mixed up. Otherwise it really is a mess. I wonder if the reason that he hasn't responded to me pinging him in this thread means that you are correct? I know that they really hate to have to answer the same question twice. Of course they are incredably busy so who knows, and I am rambling now lol.

Think of it this way:
Prometheus -=Knows=- that Spoletta and I played well over 2 hours during the test and that we know about the new player protection.
He sees that we could reason that they would use the new player protection counter to know if people played the 2 hours and that by not having one we might not get our titles.
As such he acknowledges the mistake in not resetting the counter and then says that they have other numbers "old numbers" from the previous play test which they will compare to the numbers from this test to determine if the 2 hours were played.
This implies that there is some counter that is continuous until reset and that they have a known point before and after this last test..
This is probably a huge hassle as they would have to check even the players who did not log on this test but who had worn out their status from last test.
If they had reset it then it would be a much simpler check.
