You won't ever be able to scuba dive, but most likely we will implement the possibility to swim at the surface for crossing rivers. (It will also depend on what you're wearing).

@Kerubael why not take it a stage further and develop knowledge that lets you utilise water into steam and associated gadgets or engines etc....hey could even create steampunk items ..now that would be cool.
