I am going to stream on Fractured as well. I'll stream in French and in English, because I don't really know if there's a big french community here. https://www.twitch.tv/onesimee/
Prometheus @ Fractured has issues running on some Windows 7 machines
We're working on the problem, hopefully we'll have a patch soon
The game has some issues related with Windows 7. Don't worry, we are working on it.
We recommend everyone to upgrade to Windows 10 since Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 soon and the OS will no longer be secure and officially supported by many apps (including Fractured).
Welcome to a new appointment with the Fractured Pills! Whatâs brewing at Dynamight on the verge of the so long-awaited Alpha 2? I can anticipate that this will be a truly magical pill â literally!
All right. Let's get this show on the road!
Oh, wait a minute. Before that, we thought we should ingratiate the benevolence of the mighty Lord of Light and Justice Tyros: we finally completed his majestic Temple in the middle of the Heartwood forest!
What do you think about it? Will it bring some brightness to these rainy and cloudy autumn days?
Too much brightness!
..and here are further details of the temple.
Now that we got the divine blessing, we can start talking about arcane spells. Do you remember the Goblin Fire Shaman of the last pill? If youâll be able to defeat him and wise enough to learn his strengths, youâll be able to embrace the power of fire as well. This
is a small but effective demonstration!
Wait, there is more! Imagine yourself inside a fray, fighting shoulder to shoulder with other brave warriors. What about a prayer to enhance their willpower or intimidate your foes? In this case, the Words of Power are the spells for you. Do you need to boost an allyâs healing, stun one of your enemies or even silence him? Try
and your wish will be granted!
What if you are alone against an entire army of goblins? Well, we got a remedy for this situation too. Stomp your feet on the ground and entrust yourself to the Invocation School of Magic. The earth beneath your feet will collapse and the terrible wrath of the
will impale all of your opponents. Run for your lives as long as you can!
Now itâs time to disappear with the same magic with which I greeted you before!
Just question about attack with two 1h weapons. Will it be:
weapon attacks alternate
weapons attack both at once
weapons attacks have chance to proc attack with both hands (1/3 left hand weapon, 1/3 right hand weapon, 1/3 both)
That's a good question, we still have to decide how the attack with two one-handed arms will work.
Attack speeds :
a) each weapon has own attack speed
b) speed is average of both
c) something else
There are three standardized speed types for weapons: Fast (1.6 APS and 625 Attack Time), Normal (1.2 APS and 833 Attack Time) and Slow (0.8 APS and 1250 Attack Time). The Attack Time of a weapon is the time that takes to perform a full attack, or the minimum time that needs to pass between two attacks.
Will armour absorb attacks procentually (like in WoW), flat ( like in Grim Dawn) or their combination (like in Path of Exile)?
Im asking this, because in arpg PVP "dmg is king but speed kills" and im afraid, that if guy with dexterity 25, dual wielding and with speed attack enchant on both weapons and activated Frenzy ability (and maybe some other attack speed bonus):
will take maces, ill get permastunned ( unless ther is cooldown on passive weapon stun)
I´ll get attacked X times, before my slower weapon even attacks enemy (just like a bear who got slowed in alpha video and poked to death by spear user with hit and run tactics). I know it takes some skill to kite someone in melee, but irl i hate fighting spears and this is easily abusable.
Hello! Each armor type has a base armor value and three multipliers, one for each physical resistance type: Slash, Piece and Crush.
Each resistance is calculated multiplying the base value for the multiplier, rounded down. This is the development of the average Damage Reduction depending on the Armor level.
And most importatntly: if two attackers facetank each other, will 2h damage be balanced to dual wielding dps ? Don´t know how dual wielding attacks speed is calculated, but im sure once you spec into attack speed, you´ll reach 3 attacks per second easily. Two handed weapon swings 0,8 times a second and my guess is two handers will rather go damage route. In WoW having superslow but superdamaging 2H weapon was risky - if you critted twice in the row, you probably won. If you missed twice in the row you were in trouble.
In GRIM DAWN armour takes role of lowering the physical damage flat way - so massive two handed weapons still dish out big numbers. In Path of Exile armor reduces phys damage procentually, but the bigger physical DMG you receive, the more damage goes through - if not, everyone would just max out attack speed (truth is in PoE evryone does).
We don't want to create a distinct advantage between speed and damage. We tested that with the Max Attack speed bonus (+50%) you can reach about 2 APS. In general, both double wielded weapons and two-handed weapons builds are the ones that make more DPS, the first ones are more reliable than the second that are riskier but more destructive.
Just a question - can bearkin buy a bear trophy decoration on wall and bear fur near bed?
And when discussing crimes against nature, can deer kin eat meat (from wolves for example...would me nice irony )? Concerning mounts - as wolf kin there probably won´t be problems riding a wolf (but imagine human riding chimpanzee :p).
A wolf and a Udoadra are not of the same species, so that could be possible. Anyway, it will depend also on the race, some will be carnivorous and others herbivorous.
I would like to see skill-based shields, that you have to manually block with, or at least can fully block attacks from a particular direction. I don't want to see shields become just another stat-stick.
Remember, this is click to move, press skills game.
Implementing skilled shield blocking seems not an easy thing do do in this type of game where there is no keyboard movement.
Click to move plus active blocking plus targeting stuff on ground with your spells, sounds like major pain in the ass annoying thing to do, and not like something I would play.
As the other pieces of equipment, shields will surely have passive properties and modifiers. Even if it is just an idea, we'd like to create a parry system with some action mechanics. An example could be that by holding on a hotkey and moving the mouse in a specific direction you can parry the damages received from that side.
Save vs spells is understandable, because everyone has probably played some ADaD game, but magic resistance is not clear to me.
Int should rise it (up to 36% on 18 INT, probably 50% with 25int), then abilities like Mage armor(23% at 18 int, 30% at 25 int). If these are additive, then only 1 ability might give you 80% resist to magic (if it´s not capped to like 50% or so).
As there are resists to elements, will general magic res simply reduce any non-physical damage? Let´s hope there will be enough debuffs to do it or that it willhave cap, otherwise mage vs mage might take a while if both regularly heal themselves
No, magic resistance will counter only the magic damages.
Beyond the physical resistances (slash, pierce and crush) there are the three elemental ones and three more (magic, acid, poison).
And question about CC: will crits offer any bonus to CC abilities? Will for example stuns be able to crit? And if they can, will they last longer ? Or will crit CCs be harder to save against? Or does it affect only damage abilities and autoattacks ?
Wil criticals with various dmg types have different effects (cold->freeze, fire->burn dot, poison -> reducing damage, melee crit -> bleed etc)? or will crits only increase damage?
No, crits won't offer any bonuses to CC abilities, only the Accuracy (and the luck) will. In general, the victim can resist to any stun or poison effects on the basis of his willpower, evasion and fortitude.
@Jetah Imo it´s logical, as plates / rings in chainmail make little more noise than lets say gambeson. And you´re right, chainmail slows you quite a lot, but it´s a fantasy game And probably heavy plate users with all stats on STR and CON will have hard time dispelling all the slows and other movement impairments anyway.
Concerning disability to cast spell with heavier armors: what exactly is spell - will abilities have tooltips that they´re spells?
Unless the definition of spells is different then I think. @Znirf Can you enlight us on that?
You're right, I was too broad speaking about "spells"; we still have to lay down rules on this topic. Anyway, each spell will have specific priorities related to casting requirements.
With light armors you will be able to cast mainly spells with direct damage or with arcane properties. Quite all the healing spells under Restoration can be casted also with heavy armors, the same for some of the protections or for particular spells like the Word of Power.
All these choices will consider the game and class balance, for example, all the Mage spells will be limited to light armors. Most likely all the abilities will show the "armor ranks", so you will be able to know what you can and can't cast.
I'd like to give you more insights about this but, as you can understand, we still need to work on it.
What about movement speeds? Will someone in lighter armor move faster around the screen than someone in heavier armor? Will this affect your mount speed also?
No, we'd like to avoid numerical malus for the armors.
will it be only depending on your dexterity and buffing abilities /potions, or will higher types of armor (chainmail / plate / full plate etc.) slow your attack / move / cast speed as well (like in for example Pillars of Eternity)? 2)
Will attack speed of autoattacks be always the same?
Hello! Remember that since Fractured it's an action game you can't have too low attack speed. So, it will be quite high (the base speed will have 1,2 APS) and it will depend mostly on Dexterity (each point will enhance ATT SPEED by 1%) and on your weapon.
There will be three range of speed depending on the type of weapon that you will use: slow with 0,8 APS (e.g. two-handed axes), normal with 1,2 APS (e.g. one-handed swords) and fast with 1,6 APS (e.g. daggers).
Then maybe there will be other special items with attack speed modifiers like rings or amulets.
Will armors have same special passives like helmets do, or will they differ only in resistances they offer and increased casting costs?
Armors won't slow your attacks but:
Medium armors won't allow you to cast spells
Heavy armors won't allow you both to cast spells or move in stealth mode.
And last thing - will weapons of the same tier have more versions?
We will have more versions of the same tier but with different special properties (e.g. bashing that will give you a chance to stun the enemy).
So far Dexterity gives some minor bonus to crit chance and perception gives up to 4% (on per 18).
Only Perception will give you bonuses to critical damage and critical chance.
Will we get crit chance based on equipment (so far I´ve only seen crit damage on jewellery and helmet), through passive talents or buffs (spells / potions)?
Yes, you will have crit chance based on equipment (some weapons will have more chance to crit), through your talent tree, with spells that will enhance your critical damage, enchanting and probably also with potions.
Or will skills offer +X% to crit chance to crit / will every skill have its own chance to crit?
For damage balancing logic, it will depend on the spell, probably quite all the"skill shot" spells will have a chance to crit (like the fireball).
Also will there be way to reduce opponent´s chance to crit me ? It was stated, that dexterity should help, but in tables i´ve only seen bonus to evade. Will luck be involved in both crit chance and crit resist ?
Evasion will increase the chances to dodge an attack (so also a crit one), luck works the same way. Apart from these statistic things, there will be some spells that will allow you to decrease/cancel the opponent's crit chance.
But for real, any one got any ideas other than "sometime in November"?
Right now the only thing that we can say is that it will be in mid-November. As soon as we know something we will publish an announcement in the forum!
What I want to know though... Is there going to be a penalty if someone else attacks us first (them being with or without a murderer flag), and we defend ourselves and win, knocking them out and possibly accidentally killing them in the process?
Coz, like... it was self defence XD
If you have a good alignment you will be able to attack only the ones with evil karma (Good and Neutral are considered invalid targets as if members of the same party). If a neutral player attacks you, he will become "aggressive" and you can defend yourself without any consequences.
Hello everyone! Welcome to another appointment with the Pills!
Right now our special envoys Jacopo and Andrea are showing Fracturedâs last updates at the Codemotion IT conference in Milan.
Showcasing Fractured at the Codemotion⌠only the most observant may note a clue on the screen!
Are you curious too to hear whatâs going on here at Dynamight Studios?
We had some delays due to the porting to the new version of SpatialOS and Unity, but our brave team has not been hampered! Want some proof? Then keep reading!
Do you remember those days where you had to gather each single stone block or wood log one by one to build your house? From Alpha 2 it will be just a bad memory because the cart that many of you requested finally became reality!
The carriage now will be a breeze!
If you remember, in the last pills we introduced some green nasty guys from the Goblin Hills. We added another one of them, more fearful and powerful, the Fire Shaman! While the other little goblin will assault you wielding swords, axes, spears and hammers, these crazy pyromaniacs will throw flame bombs at you from the side-lines and obstruct your passage with scorching totems!
Only your cunning will keep you alive from this hellfireâŚ
âŚor maybe also something magical!
You heard right! Do you want a suggestion to pass the âFire Shamanâs testâ? I suggest you try a
and let me know. This runic magic will shield you from poison and flames during your skirmishes!
And now, some special effects that will make your Fractured adventures even more mystical and special!
We wanted something that could give a creepier touch to the Deadwoods. We thought spiders, undeads, ruins and webs werenât enough, so we decided to add some fog too!
Will you still have the nerve to step in these dark lands now?
Last but not least, here are some new glowing friends that will wander around in Heartwood. Will
, protectors of the forest and nature, help you find the way home or will they make you lose your bearings?
Not sure if I missed it or not, but will corpses be lootable in pvp ?
Yes, you can loot an unconscious player but, most likely, it will affect you with the criminal status effect thief. In that case, most NPCs will refuse to trade with you and some city guards may decide to attack you.
The only exception where stealing is not considered a criminal action is if the robbed victim is another thief or a murderer.
If you can loot an unconscious player why anyone would want to execute him and take 48h murderer flagged status instead of thiefs 24h?
Nice question! Because the equipped items can be stolen only if you kill the player. If he is unconscious, you can loot only the things that are in his inventory.
