one option and actually what I meant at first place. Wearing a plate armor and being a caster does not necessarily need to mean that the damage will suck, it could be moderate for example. Perhaps it is not optimal for a caster to run with a plate armor but maybe there is abilities which can boost your damage or get some extra mana back, an
They could always add in Magus or Spellblade skills where a whole slot it taken up to be able to cast a limited number of offensive spells while wearing armor.

RE: Bit confused. No playable version?
@GamerSeuss said in Bit confused. No playable version?:
Trust me, most of us are chomping at the bit to get back in and play the game, especially those of us who also Stream their Alpha/Beta testing on Twitch and elsewhere. That being said, I know for me, I'd much rather have a more fully implemented new feature or 3 to play around with than having them send us in early and having to take everything down right away n to patch it.
I already chewed through my bit (pout)

RE: Is Fractured going to be as grindy as say Wurm On-line?

@Tuoni said in How will you be making your $$?:
@Ostaff It is true that the big boyz have not come yet and they will catch the game during the beta or for the launch.
The best defense we have against those incoming guilds is that all the governor spots have already been taken and accounted for. So the best cities will already be taken by the time they get here.

In general, light armor should mean less protection + more utility.
Heavy armor should mean more protection + less utility. We shall see how will that get balanced here.
Agreed.

obably not really applicable here since they use the d&d system where athletics is an STR che
I agree, the stealth users would have the second best use of environment settings but it would still be mundane stuff that could not compete with a magic user's ability since they also can do everything a stealth user is capable of by using spells. Warriors always get the worse when it comes to environment interactions

RE: How will you be making your $$$?
@Jetah The only real thing that the developers can do to try to handle multiple game styles is to have multiple servers. The more servers they have, the more variations that will exist within the game, as rarely will guilds cross servers. This does not mean that those other servers will not have their own big guilds and problems, but it does give the opportunity for more than one experience of game play to exist. The drawback of course, is that the more servers they have the more upkeep cost they will have to keep the game running.
None of us know how the game will evolve, and as @GamerSeuss stated, there are very many different reasons that people will want to play the game, and as @Tuoni stated, the big guilds are already out there with their description of what they plan. In the end, it will be how the majority of the players want the game to go that will determine how the server will play. There is literally nothing the devs can do to change that fact other than to offer up multiple instances of the servers to cater to more majorities. Even with real world applications, I have seen people use my programs for things I had never considered. Heck, I hadn't even coded it to handle some of the things people were using the program for!
Also of note, is that even if guilds were not allowed in a game, their would be guilds in the game. The reason is that guild mechanics are not done in game any more, they are done out of game on discord and other group programs like that. Also of note, because of that, there is no guarantee that the big guilds showing now will be the biggest guilds during the future of the game, cause it is feasible that another much larger guild organization catches wind of the game and brings their entire flock to the server.

RE: Question about enviromental damage/effects
I believe that mages will always have better utilization of the environment than a non-mage will. A non-mage just doesn't have that much going for them in order to interact with the environment. It would all just be mundane interaction, set as snares and other traps.

RE: Camping?
@Tuoni Some things have to be resolved in a way set in stone (game mechanics and rules) and some should be left on their own. Spawn and house-camping should definitely be resolved via game mechanics, otherwise there will be a lot of griefers that will just house and spawn camp anyone that doesn't have the backing of a bigger guild. Especially on Tartaros.
There is a game mechanic in place already. When your corpse is camped (And you must have really really really pissed them off if they are camping you after they already took all your loot), you log into your alt character on the other planets. After all, there is not very much the devs can do about camping on a full pvp location. regardless what they put in, players will work around it.

RE: How will you be making your $$$?
As you said, it will be up to the players. However, you are missing one fine point. As a famous uncle once said, "With great power comes great responsibility." It's up to the big guilds to keep the other big guilds from being oppressive. Big guilds transcending all the planets is not the problem, and they will actually help with players enjoyment (especially if they do not care for PVP but want to explore and/or be merchants). It's the mentality of the players that run the guilds that will be the problem.
I have seen both sides where big guilds have ruined a game and I have also seen them make the game. It's all in how those guilds are led. One thing I will say, however, is that big guilds will exist,. they will bypass any in-game mechanic of protection against them, and they will have a big impact on the game. The questions is, are you going to be apart of the beginning in order to help guide them in the direction you want? Come in at the end when it may be too late to influence them? Or just play without trying to make any meaningful impact on the game itself?
It's up to the big guilds to keep each other in line, or at least big alliances in the case of smaller guilds. And its up to the officers of the guilds to keep the guild running in the direction it needs to and to keep the game fun for everyone. After all, its their responsibility to do so. Rather the officers do so or not, lies in their conviction for the game and them taking on that responsibility.
The leaderboard already shows you which guilds are going to be the biggest to start with. The guild profiles already tell you how they wish to function and thereby what its members are expecting out of the guild. It's up to you how you accept the challenge and as stated earlier, join early to influence, join late with minimal impact or ignore it all and just play.
It's up to you. (A whole lof of you, but still you )

RE: Question about enviromental damage/effects
@GorTavaro said in Question about enviromental damage/effects:
I hope there will be some spellcasting options for heavy/medium armor as well. I would like too see people try to build Paladin, Dark Knight or Bard. So far you have only paralyzing touch if you don't want to go full int
I would think that any type of heal, curative, support spell would disregard armor type like the Cleric does. Offensive type spells I think should never be useful in Heavy, but weaker spells should be fine in Medium Armor. Unless they add another Talent or Skill (or handicap of some type) that has to be used in order to cast in armor that is not Cloth. Also, we can already cast in Leather, so that would cover your bard and thief specs
-
RE: Question about enviromental damage/effects
Heavy Armor and Medium armor already interact with the environment.... in colder terrain you stay warmer, in hotter terrain you burn up faster Other than that I really only see negatives for environment effectiveness. When trying to cross water you drown faster. While crossing ice you break it faster. When climbing, errr.. climbing in heavy armor? are you nutz??!!!
Nope.. leave environment effects to the casters, makes a lot more sense I believe

RE: Skill Ideas
@GorTavaro said in Skill Ideas:
@asspirin
I though so too but somebody told me it will be bonus and not natural because people would abuse it to get higher memory and then change it back to other attThat was for enchants on equipment, not for Talents. Equipment can be changed at any time so their stats will never be Natural Stat bonuses, but merely bonuses. Talents on the other hand will only be able to be set during resting (same as memorizing skills) so it is feasible that they could give Natural Stat bonuses since to change talents you would in regards also have to change your memorized skills. They will have to make it so that talents are handled before memorization though, in order for this to work.
Also @asspirin the most important thing about Natural INT is the ability to memorize more skills as GorTavaro stated.

@Starchaser said in May 2020 Playtest Review:
With the cities being the focus of the next test, I voted for mounts and limited fast travel. This should allow getting to, and between player city locations much easier for testing.
Ditto, and I am sure that EVERYONE who has tested the game so far voted for the same! LOL.
Be kinda tedious testing out player cities with having to do all that slow running again! Especially if they have fixed the Frenzy skill.
