@Donner I am also a very die hard crafter, and I have yet to find a game that fills what I want, though the Saga of Ryzom does a great job with crafting, I feel that it could still be better.
With that said, from playing alpha I am not sure this game will have what I am wanting out of crafting either, since their base craft was not that extravagant. They seem to be more geared toward the enchanting side which touches upon what Ryzom did with their actual craft materials. Still, I am hoping and waiting to see what they actually pull out of their crafting hats, as many others I have met on here are doing as well.
I would even like specialization within crafting, having enchanter being its own set of learnable skills, carpentry its own (for building houses, wagons, etc), armorsmithing , blacksmithing (horse shoes, hoes, etc for farming and building), weaponsmithing, cooking and etc. But I think they are more in line of everyone can craft anything mentality for this game and the stats are based on the material used and not the skill level of the crafter.
We will just have to see though, and I think this game is offering enough in other areas to still make it enjoyable for me.
@Ocobletka so..what you are trying to say is... YOU REALLY MISS FRACTURED AND WANT MORE CONTENT TO FILL YOU DAY???!!!
I totally agree. We need more fractured
Yup... Syndesia is going to be the home for gankers. sure enough, cause they can't actually PvP with the real pvp players. Way to tell the difference? these are the players like Tor that only fight people when they are engaged with other mobs and actually have the mobs do more damage to the player then they actually do. Saw his video, was totally unimpressed. You can clearly see how he actually would have lost a lot of those fights if not for the boss mobs.
@Kralith Move over Kralith, hope there's a spot for two on the middle spot!
@Razvan I agree, the main reason I leave games that I love for a long time is that they just have no end game (or just plain end). All the fun left once you hit the top and had nowhere else to go but, well, grind or literally just socialize.
Reason I think I will like Fractured is because of their city governship politics, and the more distinct and fun diversity they add to the game, the longer it will take me to hit the end. It's not always about adding new content, but adding some fun replayable aspects that can try to make it feel like a new game when doing it a multiple of times.
Glad you approve of what they are doing then. Each alpha the influencers are given keys to hand out to their watchers, and recently they've gotten some bigger named influencers involved as well. DS are always interested in adding more influencers with their content creator package deal just for that purpose.
Once DS gives the date for the alpha test, you will start to see it all happen

@Gothix said in How do you think the Economy will actually function?:
Items not requiring repair, doesn't necessarily mean items must have decay.
Perhaps there is no item decay, as well as no durability (so no repairs).
That is one option, however, I remember that durability was planned... at least at the moment.
And the way sink will work is by limited storage capacity players will have and will not be able to store millions of items.
Then players will need to dismantle items to percantage of base materials, because materials will stack and be usable to craft other things.Limited storage capacity is one of the worst things what games can offer tbh. Forcing people to destroy items is what I do not want to see, in addition, the resources will also take storage space and typically even more than the salvaged item.
This percentage of returned base materials does not need to be high. It can be, for example, 20%. This will sink the materials.
Also perhaps re-enchanting an item will be so expensive that it will be more worth for a player to simply craft new, and enchant it from scratch.
Add loosing of gear, through PvP, people breaking stolen items, and you have efficient sink.
Item durability and decay arent the only ways to create that sink.
I thought gaming should be fun and loots actually rewarding. Why implement system and make it so expensive that there is no reason to use it? Moreover, why go to PK and get random resources from item salvages when you can just go to gather and get what you actually want or need?
@Prometheus has already stated that there will be equipment decay, so equipment will eventually deplete (that's why they have durability as an enchantment and item stat)
In regards to only selling resources, that seems very probable to be what the economy will fall towards. Though in truth, I really find it hard to grasp the mentality of a new player being able to just jump right in and play with the vets. If that is the case, then are all crafting recipes going to be easily available? if so, that would reduce the craft market, but support the reagent market. Also, how hard is currency for buying goods going to be? or is there a bartering system instead? Just how they intend to handle in-game currency or goods has a big impact.
So much is just still unknown, that I can not make a good guess on how trading will really work. However, on going with the devs saying that its the resources (not items) that are going to be seperated upon different planets, I still lean towards the market mostly being reagents and not readily made items or even enchantments, since it looks like anyone can enchant if they have the reagents.
First time I have ever heard of this in any game. I am used to being able to move or hide my character status bar but never heard if it fading in and out. Personally, I think that is a bit much on extraneous coding to do.
However, I do have a probable alternative that you may like just as much and would actually have a bigger impact and usability for everyone.. and that is screen layout setups. I have seen a few games that have used this system. I have seen games that allow you to have up to 4 different layouts for your GUI that you are able to switch between with a single key press. With this system, you are able to hide and/or move any window to any location on your screen and then save the whole layout to later switch to when you want. This system allows you to tailor your screen to specific tasks you are doing in game... i.e... one for PvP, one for Crafting, one I like best.. is inventory management and access, and one for whatever they add later.
@MaxFlex MMO does not = PvP. I think you are getting MMOs and Battle Royales mixed up. Fortnite and Overwatch are what you are looking for.
Unless you are refering to the "everyone has to join the milia that their guild leader did", then that is just the way that NW handled it.
Unless you are trying to say that "New World" is a god damn MMO... then... Yes.. I totally agree with you. New World is a MMO
To properly use a tanning bed.. you must first put on your tanning sunglasses... and then make sure you lay flat inside before closing the lid. Try not to make too many large or jerky movements as you are liable to get burned if you do.
To properly use a tanning tub, you must place a large sheet of processed animal hide into the tub and let it process there for 16 hours. However; it has been rumored that starter towns have broken tubs due to extraneous usage and are not liable to be maintained or fix as citizens of starter towns seem to be more about adventuring than upkeeping the town.
Just cause you leave one city, doesn't mean that the other city's officials will accept you. That in itself will cut down on city swapping, and can lead to those type of players being city-less all together. I know I definitely would not allow a citizen back into my city once they left me for a plebian reason such as "I wanted another resource".
I think their city infrastructure is just fine.
@Kuroi said in [Build] What would you suggest?:
ust play an assassin like character: high evade, damage and/or crit
Evasion is completely broken for PvP, though I heard it works alright for PvE. For a Stealth build you will want High DEX, INT, CON, wear Ghoul Leather, unarmed (you will use some touch skills), get all the Stealth Talents, and go to Shadow Goblins for all their skills. Don't expect your "invisibility" to work, but you can get a nice hefty pure damage boost from all that stealth. This works great against PvE and allows you to kill Wisps, however again.. its not very useful in PvP. PvP is pretty much a straight up melee STR build.
One thing I think some people are not considering is the value of those resources. According to the news article: https://fracturedmmo.com/feature-spotlight-2-universe-planets-travels/ Cities on a Planet are maintained by the resources from that planet. Tartaros has lots of stone for building cities, but is very lacking in metals used for equipment. While Arboreus is rich and very fertile with its resources. This means 1) Arboreus people won't need to fight each other over resources. They will have a lot at hand. 2) Tartaros will be fighting constantly for lootable goods such as eqiupment. Both play into their respective game styles. The main reason you would want to have "off-world" resources will be for the higher level tier buildings and goods, which a lot of people won't even be worrying about. Hardcore gamers will be the one seeking those resources. and it just so happens that...the middle planet Syndesia is where it will all come together. The trading/merchant planet where everyone travels to for exchanging of goods (which just so happens to allow a form of PvP which means "taking").
The fact is, we have literally only seen Syndesia. PvP'ers seem to fear Arboreus quite a bit (must be all the hatred which broke up the planets to begin with, and jealousy of all that Nature Power), while the Arboreus seem to just want to "chill" and be hippees. While those Syndesians.... well... they do seem to be a bit unsure of what they want but definitely have a thirst for action and creativity. hmmm.. amazing how that fits their game style.
I think the devs have thought through this very well and very long. Let's give them a chance to show us what they have planned when we can actually see more than just one play style.
@Razvan said in Prometheus, did y'all disable mouse click emulation?:
Hmm, wai
I think you mis-read Gothix's message. We have never been able to have WASD movement, and the devs have said that they will not implement it (until forced to). Gothix merely stated that he would "personally enjoy" being able to have WASD, but he knows they won't.
Keybindings will strictly be for re-assigning the keys to the actions that are already able to be used by pressing a key. S-ocial, I-nventory, C-raft, Hotbar keys, etc.
And they are suppose to have an "auto-lock" piece of some type added for movement in the next test stage which will auto-mate the mouse button being clicked for movement while moving. What technique they will use, has yet to be stated. They have only stated that they will implement one.
I do agree with it being nice to be able to steal from opposing cities.I think Prometheus has already said something about "raids" which is different from "seiges" and that may allow for the resource stealing you are wanting. If anything, they could always allow "pure theft" from cities on Tataros, crime "theft" on Syndesia, and "No theft" on Arboreus keeping with the main game design.
Tararos is suppose to be completely chaotic anyhow, so no limits barred on that planet would work.
Yes, I do. It is the way the game is currently implemented. Create a new account, go to "Create Guild" and you will see that the race is set to your hero profile's selected race. Within the last alpha test, we were able to have guild members of all alignments, therefore guilds are not alignment restricted.
As I told Eurav in private, it is less likely that they would make "coding" changes and more likely to make changes to statements that they made before the game had ever been developed. Also, it is just more feasible to have it restricted by race instead of alignments, because other wise a guild would have to be created for "Neutral" alignment even tough there will probably be very few neutral aligned players. Also.. alignments change much more than races do.
