RE: How do you feel about the number of towns in the current map?
I always thought the same thing, way too many cities. I mean, this would be ok if we had the player base... but I don't know if we will ever have enough players to fill all those cities on every map on every planet even at release.

RE: planet moving
Well currently, there literally is only the human race. You make a valid argument and since the portal system has not been implemented yet, they may very well change it... however, their design is to keep the planets apart as much as possible to keep up the exoticness and value of the other planet's resources which will most likely be needed for the high tier cities. Their whole game design has been to make traveling worthwhile and not easily accomplished, hence why they make fast travel so hard and costly even for same-map travel.
Also, the reason each account starts with 2 alternative character slots is so that we are able to have a character on each planet if we so choose. This way, you can be a beastman and play as one, but still have a demon to play with your demon friends and enjoy all three playstyles.

Taxes should only be taken out at the end of the sale, and be based upon the amount the item actually sold for, I believe.
So, if the item doesn't sell, then no tax would be applied.

Yes... we've discussed this point pretty thoroughly in some other articles... with the current designed system there will be a "kill and looter" role for a person in the party that will gain all that negative karma, while the other players only get the "harming" karma.

Yeah, I hate system where you actually "have" to "bid" for anything.

is a way to mix metals and produce better endurance in the metals, for plate o
We will be able to mix metals for alloy ingots, however, I do not think we will be able to mix metal for crafting (though I would like to see this as an ability later in the game to increase the amount of different stats affected and thus a wider range of equipment that is not all cookie-cutter equipment).

RE: Is game worth playing
If you like fried chicken..then NO.. this game is ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH PLAYING!! as I have tried multiple times to make fried chicken in-game and I have YET to get even ONE crispy finger tender! Heck, I even tried getting fried Horse! I have thrown fireball after fireball after the horses I have seen in-game and never once have I been able to get a single piece of crispy meat from them sigh.
Now, if you like grilled wolf, venison or bear.. then YES!! This is definitely the game for you as those come in steady supply!!!!
It's just the chicken!!! whine
And strange.. oh boy... do you find strange things in this game... I mean.. I could have sworn I one time saw a feminine peach wearing a McDonald's outfit running by me while resting at my campfire!
Heck.. I even saw a gibbx once, and I have no clue what one of those things are either!!!!

RE: The decision for public vs citizens-only crafting stations should be made by Governors, not Dynamight
@Farlander said in The decision for public vs citizens-only crafting stations should be made by Governors, not Dynamight:
I seem to remember a time when this forum community argued hard against the game steering toward large groups that dominated the landscape. It would seem logical to me that to combat that idea encouraging solo play or even small group play would be beneficial toward this end. I highly feel that solo play should not be a detriment to the point someone gets frustrated and quits the game.
Agreed. Solo players should be able to do a lot of things, but they should never be able to do everything... and they will need to rely on others for some things. If a player wants to travel between cities as a traveling merchant, let them... but they will need to pay the costs for doing so as well. Just as there are costs for creating cities and all the valuable assets they have.
Let there be cities that are open so they can have their areas, but let the Governor decide that. Let the governor decide who can be in a territory and what it will cost them to do so. It is no different than what it is in real life, and this will keep from having a territory undermined from the its weak foundation.

I think having harbors pre-made for the alphas is totally fine. In fact, I would like to have a lot of things already pre-made for alphas as they are only for a short amount of time and having to re-do the same things over and over that are time laborious kinda keeps us from actually testing the new features of the alpha.
Now, upon release, then I would agree with you and harbours should be put back into the city infrastructure, as during that time we won't have "ghost" towns like we do in the alphas. If we do, then it basically means the game died and the developers have a lot bigger problem on their hands than harbours not being used.

RE: Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?
If you noticed, CHA wasn't on that list.. which is because CHA really is the Dumpster Stat, unless you are currently either a Power Word user or afraid of being Power Used on
And even at 6, you are not completely hindered, however you will definitely feel the hinderance, however 8 is not so noticeable.

We are just stating the current attribute weights for the present state of the game. Indeed, everything changes once more is added to the game and the current stat base has been re-adjusted by varying methods. But the question I believe is for this upcoming Alpha and not at the time of release.
Also... feel free to plan your characters ahead of time at: http://TheShadowEmpire.net/public_CharacterPlanner.php

RE: Full Interaction Table Between Alignments and PvP Flagging!
Don't really understand all you wrote just there... looks like a lot of....ummm... yeah.... wordy text.
But the basics of the alignment PvP (For Syndesia only) goes as follows:
GN = Good Alignment AND Neutral Alignment (There is no mechanical difference between a Good and a Neutral player.)
E = Evil Alignment
(F) = Flagged for PvPA Good Alignment player can not injure another Good Aligned player unless they are both flagged for PvP. So....
GN vs GN = Can not Happen
GN vs GN(F) = Can not Happen
GN(F) vs GN = Can not Happen
GN(F) vs GN(F) = Damage Taken.A flagged Good Alignment player can always harm Evil aligned players and becomes flagged for PvP when doing so.
GN(F) vs E = Damage Taken. E becomes E(F)A flagged Evil aligned player always harms ALL other players regardless of alignment. When they attack another player, that player instantly becomes "Flagged" for PvP. So...
E(F) vs GN = Damage Taken, GN becomes GN(F)
E vs E = No Damage Taken.
E(F) vs E(F) = Damage Taken. Its pretty simple and straight forward. If an Evil aligned player AOEs a group of Good aligned players, all the Good Aligned players injured in the AOE automatically become flagged for PvP and are capable of harming their other flagged group members. This is the Friendly Fire mechanic.

RE: Change to Syndesia, the true mix of PvE and PvP?
Personally.. I think the Devs are actually trying to have too much on Syndesia. It's hard enough to make a valid game that caters to both solo players and group players. It's extremely hard to cater to PvX. Them trying to do both, I think is really just unfeasable. Syndesia should not be solo friendly, cause you really just can not have solo friendly with open PvP. If they want that, then open PvP has to be nixed and stick strictly with the "Militia" and Siege aspects. Quite frankly, being a middle gamestyle, I feel that Militia and Siege mechanics is ALL they need PvP wise for Syndesia... as this means that solo play is possible and PvP is possible as well as optional compared to Arboreus where it does not exist and Tartoros where it is mandated

@Denyde said in what the actual pvphuck:
you have a skill to give you 100% resist, not your whole suit.
I think they should not even have skills for 100%, fire protection should be like 50% not 100%. Otherwise, you have what you have now, people who can walk around completely immune to most things. Boring.
