RE: PETS!
@EvolGrinZ I' so sorry about your cat. I had to let 2 of mine go a few years back due to age and illness. It still hurts to think about that, but they gave me so much joy during their lives, I wouldn't have traded them for the world.

RE: Special Buildings/Buildables for Towns/Cities? As well as rest-related buffs.
I love these ideas, @Vinnile!
Since the devs have confirmed that towns will change their designation as the towns grow (hamlet, town, city, metropolis?), I'd love to see different blueprints for the same "types" of structures, with the ability to tear down the old and build the new structure once the town was big enough.
For example, a "place of worship" might be a chapel, church, temple or cathedrale. You could obtain the blueprints at any time, but you have to be a town before you can build better than a chapel, and so forth. Conversely, even if you have a metropolis, you can't build a cathedrale until you have the blueprints.
A metropolis should look and feel completely different than a hamlet, with much larger and better built buildings, and a lot more bustle. Evolving buildings would accomplish that, as well as give a role to skilled architects, whether NPC or player.

RE: FibS's big dumb semi-curated NOT official "I want this kind of Beastman!" topic
Thanks for the kind words, Dragomok. Those were exactly my thoughts. The devs have said that they want our choices to matter, right from the time that we choose our race. I think it would be great if some of the choices were something other than "This is how you do combat".

RE: New around here :)
Hi there! It's so great to see new players coming in.

RE: FibS's big dumb semi-curated NOT official "I want this kind of Beastman!" topic
So, this might be in the far future, but if they ever put in islands on the map, it would be very cool to have a "selkie" beastman that could turn into a seal, and be the only one that could make their way to the islands. The islands might have harvestables found nowhere else, so they would have a monopoly on those.
That would be the good thing. The bad thing would be that selkies would have no other advantages, so they would be the worst beastman in battle. In other words, this race would be for someone who primarily wants to spend their time exploring and gathering, and participates in battle (both PVE and PVP) as little as possible.

RE: Weekly Drawings - Be Active & Win Foundation Points!
I just posted to a gaming group that I've belonged to for a long time. There are a lot of people there who have played the Diablo games, as well as a group that used to play Stars Wars Galaxy.

RE: Question about Syndesia guards
Don't forget that all cities may not be hiring guards to patrol their territories. You get a limited number of NPC's based on the prestige of your town, so it's possible that only the larger cities will be able to afford both patrols and city guards, and still have enough NPC's left over to man their shops.

RE: Limited/rare items?
SWG had crafting materials that were time-limited. That could be addressed by having crafting materials only available on certain asteroids. "X ingredient is needed for some high-level crafting, but is only available when this asteroid swings by the planet every May" kind of thing.

RE: This game is a potential PVE gold mine
@specter said in This game is a potential PVE gold mine:
@gothix Back in February, a bunch of PvP players did ask for the safe zones to be removed and went on a rather harsh crusade against the PvE players on this forum. This led to various heated debates and fights and eventually to the release of the PvP, alignment and crime spotlight to calm everyone down. One or more of those threads have since been removed by the users who made them, so that's why you can't find a trace of them anymore. I suspect this is why some PvE players on this forum are still on edge.
Thank you, @Specter. That exchange is exactly what prompted me to make this thread. When I stumbled upon this game, one of the first things I found was the Spotlight #6 - PVP, ALIGNMENT & CRIME. As soon as I read that, I knew that I was going to back this game with as much as I could afford. Finally, FINALLY a dev team that understood that PVE players just want to pursue their goals and be left alone.
Later, I stumbled on the threads that you are talking about....pages and pages of PVP players going on and on with detailed plans about how they were going to bring demon hordes to Arboreus and go on a mad slaughter campaign. I knew after reading the Spotlight that they were wrong, and even discovered that @Prometheus had done a Q&A where he basically laughed in their faces and told them point blank that they would not be allowed to go on a murderous rampage on Arboreus.
The thing that was the most aggravating about that whole incident was that the PVP players had TWO worlds for PVP, and yet the only PVP threads at the time were ones about disrupting the play of the PVE'ers. That being said, the reaction of the devs to those threads caused me to be a firm supporter of this game.
And for the record, I don't care at all that Syndesia and Tartarus are PVP. I fully understand that if I bring merchant goods to Syndesia to trade, that I'll have to watch my back. I don't mind that. I just want to be left alone when I'm doing PVE activities on Arboreus.

RE: Other upcoming MMOs?
I'm like kellewic. I'd like 2 different MMO's to play so I don't burn out on either one. Torchlight is getting its own MMO in 2019, which would be about as different as possible from Fractured, other than they are both isometric.

RE: This game is a potential PVE gold mine
Thanks for replying again, Mewmew. Sounds like you really get it and are a kindred soul here. I want exactly what you are describing - a mostly PVE experience where I can do my PVE goals without being hassled. And as far as PVP goes, I actually think that helping towns defend against demon invasions on Syndesia sounds like fun. I just want the ability to decide when and where I do PVP.
We can't be the only 2 who want this. I have friends who talk about the original SWG to this day. They all loved it and miss the PVE sandbox and town management from that game. I'm sure that there are lots of other people out there who want mostly/only PVE who are also as sick of theme parks as we are. Hopefully, Dynamight finds the best way to connect with those people.

RE: Hello Everyone
Actually, I don't think that D4 will be that much competition unless it's also some form of Sandbox MMO. It's possible, I guess, to avoid being a direct competitor of WOW, but I don't think it's likely.

RE: This game is a potential PVE gold mine
Thanks everyone for weighing in! Obviously I disagree with a lot of the analysis here, but that's what discussions are for. I'm not sure that I always understand the viewpoint of everyone here, but there's a few points that people are making that I'd like to address.
First, a few people seem to have the assumption that PVE'ers are looking mostly for dev created content, as well as raids and dungeons. I couldn't disagree more. I know that I am utterly sick of dev created content, and am REALLY looking forward to exploring, crafting, etc. in a world where I'm not on rails. I've been wanting to play a sandbox for a long time, but every single developer except this one apparently thinks that only PVP'ers want a sandbox. I LOATHE being attacked and interrupted when I'm trying to accomplish something in game, so I've simply avoided those game.
@TheRippyOne I'm not sure what you mean by "it would become safer to denude your town of defenders to go reave someone else's place for a bit." If you're in the safe zone in Arboreus, you won't need defenders because no one can attack. And you can't raid or siege on Arboreus at all. Sieges don't exist at all on Arboreus, and no one can raid you in the safe zone. Did you mean go off-world to siege or raid? I guess you could do that to an evil town in Syndesia, but I doubt many Beastmen will be doing that.
@Gothix I think you are 100% correct. In fact, if I found a demon trying to madly gather resources on Arboreus, I'd gladly show him/her where they were. Stuff is going to be abundant on Arboreus, so why not?
@Target The stuff you find boring, I love to do. I doubt I'm the only one. Have you checked out the popularity of games like Stardew Valley? The thing that will make it interesting is town and guild interactions and player-made content, such as events and celebrations. Granted, if there is no way to make your town have it's own unique "flavor", then it might get boring after a while.

This game is a potential PVE gold mine
I looked a long, long time for a new game that felt PVE friendly after getting bored with D3:ROS. Every single game coming out with a PVE component seemed to fall into one of the following groups:
- Yet Another Theme Park
- A Brad McQuaid inspired "You Need a 20-Man Group to go Pick Flowers"
- Another ARPG
- Yeah, We've got PVE in our game. You'll have to put up with being attacked constantly in our OWPVP environment.
I was overjoyed to find Fractured since I'll FINALLY have a PVE experience in a completely different type of game...a PVE experience that won't involve being constantly attacked while I'm trying to explore and gather. I am positive that I'm not the only one out there that has been dying to find a good PVE experience in a game that isn't just a clone. One in which it's easy to PVP by going to other worlds, but in which PVP is completely my choice.
Let's face it:
- Syndesia will be competing with Ashes of Creation for players
- Tartaros will be competing with Crowfall for players
- Arboreus will be competing with ...... no one.
Unless the new Diablo projects are something completely different than anyone is expecting, Fractured will be the only MMO releasing in the next few years that is both completely different and has a dedicated PVE environment.
I hope the word gets out. I really expect a LOT of completely bored PVE players to come out of the woodwork if it does.

RE: Multiple Diablo Projects
@evolgrinz said in Multiple Diablo Projects:
WoW is still going strong despite the age of the game, so I highly doubt it that they put up a MMORPG.
Looking at the line-up of games, they have the MMORPG, ARPG, CCG, Moba, Team based shooter and also have the Warframe kind of co-op game in the form of Destiny2, even though it's not a Blizzard game.
What they don't have yet is something like MHW, a survival sandbox or a battle royal type of games.
Survival sandbox and battle royal games could fall under the MMO name and I would personally think it would be something more in this direction.
But all we can do is hope we will hear something cool about this at the next Blizzcon.Actually, they also don't have a building game, a la Minecraft. Some kind of content creator, such as Neverwinter has with the Foundry, might be really cool.
