BSN N.O.-XPLODE - not technically an energy drink but has 240mg caffeine per serving and is only $.60 per serving rather than $2 to $4 per can; and it's not carbonated, which I prefer.

RE: Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs
Been looking at it more since this was announced.
I'm not sure I see the point of the 5 euro level. I mean, yeah it's great to have people throw 5 euros your way, but I'm not feeling enough value from it. Maybe add a Beta 2 raffle in there where say 100 people (or however many) have a chance to win entry into Beta 2 that's offered at the next level up or a week VIP to help them get started at release.

what's the fundamental difference?
I'm speaking as there are 2 VIP in the cash shop. 1 VIP for subscription which cost 10$ per month, it's automatically applied to the account OR another VIP (usually called something else) that is purchased for 15$ but can be traded (or looted >.>). Wildstar, WoW, Eve, Crowfall all have similar versions of this.
I see. I haven't played WoW in forever and there wasn't any sort of cash shop when I stopped. Never played the others. Sounds almost like some VIPs I've seen where you are allotted boost potions (or whatever) that can be traded.

they said that cosmetics from the cash shop were bound to the purchaser. Whether or not we can gift them (which i'm sure people will ask for) hasn't been answered.
it can be said that being able to buy optional subscriptions can become p2w too. not necessarily from the developer perspective but by a whale using their cash to buy VIP then trading that for goods in game. which is one reason I don't like the VIP idea.
Not sure if it was stated, but wouldn't making VIP account-bound solve that? I kind of assume VIP would be account-bound since it's a subscription.
I don't think any cash shop items should be able to be traded for in-game currency. Traded for cash shop currency maybe.
@Prometheus
I don't believe you should discount the Immortal tier any. I know many want it but the value is too good as is.I agree here. There is a big difference between 2 years VIP and Lifetime VIP (same for Carpenter NPC) and really the difference of 125 euros (non early bird on Knight) is pretty sweet for that kind of upgrade.

there should never be any progression outside of the game.
Your character can "learn" offline so there is some progression outside the game.

Surely there will be some who'll be afraid, but I doubt they'll come anywhere close to being the majority. Dying is a part of MMOs, after all. Being afraid of death when there are no consequences wouldn't do a real gamer any good.
I agree, just playing around. Actually my most fond memories are of EQ where dying had real consequences. I remember breaking into Plane of Hate and getting owned at the entry. Luckily another guild came by and helped us get our stuff back.

Yees, extreme fear. What does fear mean again?
fear (fîr)
n.
A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger. If they don't have anything valuable with them when they die, there's no real danger. When there's no danger, there's no fear. And they can't be terrified if they're not afraid.
But what is danger:
dan·ger
ˈdānjər/Submit
noun
the possibility of suffering harm or injury.
the possibility of something unwelcome or unpleasant.
If they find getting owned unwelcome or unpleasant then danger exists which means there can be fear and it might be terrifying if it's extreme ownage

RE: VIP system : What do you think ?

@kellewic AS long as the player who has money and only 2 hours doesnt lvl upto cap at the same amount of days/months as the player who put in 6 hours and no money! I think thats what most people are worried about! the player who players 2 hours and spends money should STILL end up taking longer to level than the player who spends 6 hours a day, but level faster than a player who spends only 2 hours a day and spends no money! the most fair thing to would be: player who spends 6 hours a day hits cap in 1 month; player who spends 2 hours a day and money hits cap in month and a half; and a player who spends 2 hours a day and spends no money hits level cap in 2 months! as for the person who has both time and money as long as they arent hitting cap in 1 day or anything insane like that, because every game has the big spenders with a lot of time and you cant really do anything about them all you can do try to curb as much as possible the power imbalance while levelling! some people think just because someone is levelling faster than you that means the game is P2W and I dont think thats necessarily true! I think if the player who pays and who doesnt pay can go head to head and be EQUAL in all aspects at end game then its not really pay2win...
Yeah, agree. If the time saving items shave even 25% of time, not much of a problem in my opinion. That gives 15 more minutes an hour - or for a dedicated, 8 hour a day player, about a week every month.
I've seen other VIP systems that give something like a scroll, potion, or whatever at X per cycle and they last for a few hours to give boosts. Might be a good middle ground over a permanent boost.

@althalus said in VIP system : What do you think ?:
Hmm I can see both sides of this. I have played Runescape which has a similar VIP thing and P2Win xp boosters and that community has been going strong for years!!! as previous posters have said as long as it doesnt end up messing with power balance at end game where one player has more power than the other player just because they are playing then it shouldnt be considered pay2win. on the other hand if it takes non VIP player a month to level upto cap and it takes VIP player a day to level to cap then there's obviously power imbalance that needs to be addressed! At this point with the info we have its too early to get all mobs with pitchforks about this.
Or you can look at it as a player who only has 2 hours a day to play vs one who has 6 hours - the player who plays the least can keep up with the other player a bit more. Now the player who plays only for 2 hours a day doesn't need a month.
Now someone who has time and money... not much you can do since they will "level" faster regardless of VIP.

[various complaints about VIP]
Knowledge Points are effectively experience points, but boosting XP gain is not pay to win, because in any game it does not increase the power ceiling, and in this one it doesn't increase power at all. Your character does not become "stronger" from gaining Knowledge Points, except for a short duration from the very start of the game when you don't have enough skills to fill out your build. Fractured is a game of lateral development, remember.
You may get to the top faster with VIP, but it is the exact same top. You will not disproportionately "win" against a non-paying player whose character is as equal to yours as possible without VIP, ergo you are not paying to win, ergo it is not pay to win.
So, if the level cap is 50 and I reach it at day one, but instead you require 5 months to reach it, that is not pay2win to you?! OK!
By this logic buying into alpha/beta is p2w since you gain game experience before others who don't pay and therefore accomplish more of the game faster. Even if you gain knowledge points at the same rate, knowing how to do so means you'll gain them faster due to buying in early, which gives an advantage by paying.
Note: I'm still on the fence of VIP and can see both sides for it and against it.

RE: Houses
Sounds a bit like the system ArcheAge uses (which I liked). Find a plot, claim it, get plans, build on it - put crafting benches and enjoy retirement
Sucks when the plots run out though.
Since this is open world, are houses protected out in the wild?
From what I read they decay so if someone builds and leaves it, eventually the plot will free up again - maybe it can be attacked and torn down after so long in disrepair?

I noticed the Arboreus and Tartaros 5,000 euro tiers are missing
Personal contact with the dev team – be informed and discuss all game design choices

@prometheus said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:
Do you think prices are fair? If not, how would you change them?
I think for what is included at each price point that the prices are fair - even more so since some levels have a reduced price but limited quantity.
What pack would you be interested in?
Not sure, but probably Immortal at least - debating the higher ones since if I choose Governor what happens if I start on Arboreus but then feel like playing on Tartaros? Am I still a governor of a town on a planet I can't go to?
Is there anything missing you’d like to see – or perhaps something you think is “too much”?
Not that I can think of at the moment.
Do you think Foundation Points should be included as reward?
I don't think Foundation points should be part of Kickstarter since those are given for community involvement and I think that aspect should be encouraged.

@unreal1985 In the game you can get the ability to fulfill a certain condition. And for further study of skills volumes of knowledge will be required
Here's all the information about it https://fracturedmmo.com/feature-spotlight-3-knowledge-system/just beat me to it
