I just found this game today and read all the News/Announcements, Development Updates, and several pages of the other discussion forums.
What concerns me is there seems to be a rift between what the game wants to be and what the players want it to be; namely the PvE vs PvP aspect.
There is this universe of planets with 3 distinct races. It seems most people playing Humans or Beastmen (specifically) don't want to deal with PvP and the Demons should just stick to killing each other. So basically we end up with what every other MMO has except we call the segregation planets instead of servers (yawn).
When I first read the proposition of this game, I was like... WOW, a thriving universe where these Demons are a threat (maybe not persistent due to the disadvantages), but something Humans and Beastmen can not, and should not, ignore. Sure, Demons fight among themselves as is their nature, but when properly motivated could be a devastating war band across other planets.
Disadvantages aside; I guarantee Demons will find a way to invade Human and Beastmen territories - it's their nature. What happens in most of these MMOs is the people who want no part of PvP start complaining; devs listen and lessen the PvP aspect and now we just have another WoW or PoE (which I love btw). It's already been done... many times. What makes this game different? Will the true PVE'ers just give up and leave because they don't want Demons invading? Will the PVP'ers give up because killing each other gets boring?
The problem is most people are risk averse; even those who PvP, which is why most people try to stack the deck in their favor (low-level ganking, traveling in large groups, etc). How will this game combat that? Will Demons be able to "raid" Humans and Beastmen (even at a disadvantage?). If not, then really how is this game any different than others?
The Knowledge concept is cool, but really not much different than gaining experience for doing basically the same tasks. What I've seen so far, the concept of strife, true struggle and war, between races is what makes the game somewhat unique. It's been glossed over in other games (Dark Elves in EQ for instance), but never really a core concept that I'm aware of since I haven't played every single MMO in existence.
And if you got this far, I want to say I'm not a PvP'er really. But the possibility that a group of Demons could invade while I'm out doing whatever (hell, or even other Humans) might make me pay a bit more attention to what's going on rather than mindlessly wandering around. The concept that there may be Human spies for Demon factions, or even Beastmen spies in extreme situations. Or Demon "traitors" that help Humans and Beastmen. Now that interest me.

Has similar content to latest Q&A but I found a few more gems in this one as well.
I decided to have a go at transcribing the latest Q&A. It was a nice diversion from working on the wiki. It's the full conversation. If someone wants to summarize, go for it
Just think, with all the problems and people getting mad - you also tested what it will be like if you ever release to Steam.
@Goemoe This is one of those "ask 10 people, get 10 answers" sort of question - it's going to depend on the person and what they find "fun". Some people keep logging in for the social aspects, some to PvP, some to explore and do achievement type things; even if it's only a personal achievement of "own all the costumes".
I actually do work on the Fractured wiki and that's fun to me, but I'm a data type guy (my work also revolves around gathering, parsing, interpreting data).
Why do so many people continue to play Path of Exile? Every time you start a new character you have to run the same stuff over and over and over. It's likely because there are so many ways to build a character by combining skills and matching them with different strategies and gear.
Even games with end game content (the WoWs and EQs of the world) get boring after a while so having end game content does not guarantee fun. It can be fun for a while, but that strategy means a game has to keep "one upping" itself and pretty soon you have players with 100k life to battle the big bad boss with 1M life - just a never-ending treadmill. This also means early content everyone just wants to skip to get to the end game content and soon 75% of the game is empty and not really played.
Yes, I've read the many threads and pages about PvE vs. PvP and it's definitely not only a heated topic but also a hard problem to tackle.
I really like the idea of the potential struggle between races/alignments. I agree with some statements made by @Phaethonas in another thread I read this morning as well - https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/1481/feature-spotlight-6-pvp-alignment-crime/52 - regarding Demons seeing this huge disadvantage as a challenge and alliances being created. But, this is only half the story in my opinion. If such an alliance did form, I could see one being formed on the Good side as well - this could create a very interesting inter-planetary struggle for resources. There could be a black market trade where evil Humans go between Demons/Beastmen through Neutral merchants to get wares from and to the Demon planet.
Some cool possibilities.
I really like the Lich and was hoping something like that would be added one day.
They could also be used in alchemy/poison making. I imagine you'd need to gather the first samples in the wild to have them to plant privately (or buy them from someone who harvested in wild).
I have no doubt there would be people perfectly happy to harvest wild plants/seeds to sell to other players for use in recipes or to re-plant in a private garden.
I'd really like to see animals even attacking other animals - a wolf killing a rabbit or deer for instance. Also since there are seasons, there is opportunity for creatures to act accordingly.
For more intelligent creatures, them having tactics on par with their intelligence - setting traps, ambushes, etc.
First, in case anyone doesn't know, the wiki is at https://fractured.gamepedia.com/ (also linked on Fractured site under Community -> Wiki).
I'm asking since I see many questions in forum and in game where the answer is on the wiki. It makes me wonder if people know about it and if so, is it too hard to find information.
I'm looking for feedback such as:
Specific examples would be welcomed.
Depends on visible players vs non-visible players - what I mean is with the full collision they are planning, there's only so many objects that can fit within your screen view.
I wonder if projectiles can go off screen or if they just "vanish" at the edges. I imagine projectiles, minimally, will have some sort of max range and maybe they dissipate (arrows hit the ground; magic dwindles; etc.) after some time or are stopped by a tree, rock, or other object.

So if these resources aren't special why do others covet them? Why would they stir greed?
Equal doesn't mean interchangable. Let's say Arboreus will be more abundant in resources for mana potions, and Tartaros will be more abundant in resources for health potions. Both valuable and sought after and can't be substituted for one another. Maybe Arboreus' materials and weapon crafting recipes are designed for lighter and faster versions of weapons, while Tartaro's are slow but heavy hitting. If you were a beastman and wanted a slow, heavy hitting axe, it would need to be Tartaros crafted.
That's a valid point and I hope it is that way since it would make resources more interesting and races would have a valid reason for seeking them out and potentially guarding them or fighting for them.
I'm asking these questions since the kickstarter is supposed to be in June and I'm debating if that's something I want to be involved with or not.
I guess I just tire of the same old no risk, zerg everything since you can't lose anything type of games - especially in a PvP-centric game where if there's no risk then attacking someone or venturing too far too fast carries no real consequences. Same with PvE encounters - with no risk, strategy just flies out the window. PoE has this problem since there I can just keep portaling back to finish off whatever I'm fighting.

It's easy to hide something from pickpockets, but from someone who's looting your corpse? There's literally nowhere they can't look, and there aren't many options to begin with. Gold pouches are pretty bulky, after all.
True, but there are some places they don't want to look. However, this might make spending said hidden money a bit difficult...
After hanging around for a few days, reading the forums and re-digesting the Spotlights; I am officially excited for this game - what it could be. So far, I think, though the community has its "sides" (specifically PvP vs PvE), that there is a respectfulness (for the most part) of ideas.
The role play thread started by @Darian gives me hope that people might act how their characters might act given their alignment and even racial tendencies. I think this is something sorely missing in games today. Mostly it's just min/maxing based on some template.
The Correlation between School and Alignment Poll() @Gothix started was interesting to see the results. It will be interesting to see how it actually plays out through alpha and beta periods.
The many replies in this thread were fantastic to read and engage with and although I don't agree with everything (I mean, who would?); I'm always interested to understand the various points of view and how, in some cases, they are diametrically opposed.
Everything known about it so far is compiled at https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/1612/a-compilation-of-everything-we-know-about-fractured/2 (#8)

The devs have never said that gear is going to be purely cosmetic. They do have stats from what I know but a lot of it will be situational. For example, you'll need different types of armor for different environments.
Here's some info from my compilation thread:
https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/175/gear-system/5
https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/332/types-of-armor/2
https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/816/what-about-progress/17
Exactly. I keep reading all these posts on gear won't matter, which I find impossible to believe. Might as well fight naked then.
I think this game will have deep synergies across skills, biomes, and gear based on what I've read so far. Everything is described as "situational". Understanding these synergies is what I think will separate the knowledgeable player from the "noob".
Of course, I could be completely full of shit - wouldn't be the first time
If I recall, Prometheus said Lich would be alignment neutral in that whatever alignment you were before, you retain as a Lich.
Can't find the reference so it was probably in a live stream (if I'm remembering correctly that is).
@gothix c'mon Gothix, let them have those few knowledge points on Arboreus we can't reach. We evil demons will just camp the most looked for knowledge points on Tartaros and see if the beastman can lvl more of those +400 skills to lvl 3 then us
Or play as human, get 120 attribute points, get all good knowledge first, then drop to evil and get all evil knowledge. Get human tech, and play as evil humans and control lands on human planet.
This also sounds appealing, as playing demon does.
Now if a human could get so evil they become a demon...

hey guys i hope you wont do anythink like Albion did - a very stupid system when you put 100 swords to craft and you have like a progress bar. i hope you will come up with something more smart.
I hope it's not like Wurm Online, either, where you have an incredible amount of mindless clicking to do to advance a crafting project (additionally poisoned by RNG failures).
I prefer meaningful crafting choices, and if I have to click, I want it to mean more than "do the same thing again".
Prometheus has stated that there will be very little RNG in crafting.
