Haven't found any MMOs (that are out yet) that are interesting to me so playing Dying Light instead.

RE: Pinatas, catatonia, and Montgomery Scott (or what matters the most to me in MMOs)
I'd really like to see animals even attacking other animals - a wolf killing a rabbit or deer for instance. Also since there are seasons, there is opportunity for creatures to act accordingly.
For more intelligent creatures, them having tactics on par with their intelligence - setting traps, ambushes, etc.

RE: Elusive - Casual Beastman Guild
welcome to all who signed up in the last few days

RE: Town Location Advantage
@crowdac It could also be a disadvantage if/when boats are introduced they allow combat from them (like bombarding coastal towns).

Just approved for @SILLENffs and @FinalCobra - welcome!

RE: Special Screen Effects
@frost said in Special Screen Effects:
@kellewic I think it's not a matter of making sense or not. Even in 3rd person, if you when you're frozen your screen borders for example get like icy stuff on them, or when your burning they show a flaming effect... well truth be said, this is not a "must have" in games obviously, but it's something some people, like me, like to see in game just because of the effects and aesthetics it gives to the game. So when he created this topic I donΒ΄t think it was about making sense or being 1st or 3rd person ^^
If my character is visibly on fire, adding it to the screen itself seems redundant. Now if there are no visible effects on the character, then yeah adding it to the screen makes sense. I guess my point is as long as it's not redundant.
Some sort of visible affirmation I'm on fire or frozen, to me, is a definite must have in my opinion. My assumption, given the 3rd person view, is that it will show on the character. They could very well make them screen effects, which might be easier from a development standpoint (I have no idea).

RE: Special Screen Effects
I typically don't like them, but the best was Everquest where the screen just went black if you were blinded.
Since Fractured is third person, I'm not sure it makes much sense as you can see whatever is affecting your character - like being in a block of ice if frozen (or just icy looking).

RE: Spotlight concerns about balance/class locking
@mae said in Spotlight concerns about balance/class locking:
Would like to get more info on:
- Are racial attributes trainable?
- Are racial attributes rerollable?
- If 1 or 2 were yes, then skip. Otherwise: we do have soft "classes". If i dump all my points into dexterity but then get tired of being an archer, i will not be able to reroll into an optimal mage/melee. We have all these skills available but only some will have a punch and it's permanent. Hope there will be a mechanic to change abilities.
There was mention a while ago (quite a while ago) about getting some stat respecs, but no information on when you get those or how many you get.
- Meleer and mages have no ammo. Mana is not permanently lost ammo. I just hope that there will be no unfairness towards archers by having to craft arrow stacks and permanently lose on use. Would be ok to have all quivers magically "replenish" arrows, basically simulate mana. Or quivers preincluded with a large pool of arrows that you have to replace only every couple of days of heavy usage.
Melee characters have no ammo, but they also don't have the range of a bow. Spell casters might get the range, but it's a good possibility they won't have the accuracy of an archer. Bows might have the best range and/or ability to shoot arrows faster than mages can cast spells. Like everything, it's a trade off.
- There is already a thread for this but just want to mention here. I hope that no class imbalance arises from mages having Intelligence as their bread and butter when intelligence is already used for learning ability.
There will definitely be no class imbalance since no classes exist. People like to categorize things is the only reason even "soft classes" exist.
What if I make a Human with high STR/CON/INT - it's not a mage. Maybe I want to fight melee and have the ability to cast spells. Granted my accuracy will suck and I likely won't crit a lot.

Mobile games are where the money is at these days
I can't stand to use my phone for more than 5m searching for something while out; not sure how people spend hours on games on these teeny tiny screens.

RE: Will the Demons take over the Human world?
@roccandil yeah, good point - they can already travel freely on Arboreus and Syndesia and with the protection of Tyros on Tartaros as well.
-
RE: Will the Demons take over the Human world?
@gothix Beastmen get curses stacked on them while on Tartaros
I think Good Humans have the widest range of travel, especially those who worship Tyros. Not saying it's easy, but they get "unlimited" time on Tartaros (until Demons kill them
) and can walk Arboreus for quite some time as well. Other Good Humans would lose Karma on Tartaros.

RE: What should you do when your guild has two or more Governor Pledges?
@eurav Prometheus also stated you can make someone else Governor in this thread
I don't really have a recommendation since there's not enough information on how hard/easy it would be to manage multiple towns, how many people is enough to keep a town from decaying, and how many is enough to keep it growing.
Also, I don't think it's ever been specified how much time is "enough time" for the Governors to find people for their towns before they start to decay.
The guild I'm in has the same situation as we have 3 people so far with Governor packs. We're just waiting for alpha/beta phases to see how much work multiple towns will be and what we should do then so there's plenty of time to figure it out

RE: What should you do when your guild has two or more Governor Pledges?
@Eurav If I recall the housing situation it's one house per account per planet.
I'm not sure we know enough about the town prestige to understand what it would take for a single group of people to maintain more than one town. A town needs some level of prestige to not decay and that is based on the number and types of buildings it contains, and the contributions of its citizens to civic life.
