Oh I forgot about Crowfall. I forget if they invited me to the beta or not, I basically just lost interest.

RE: Rotatable Camera?
How can you manage [a rotate-able camera] with a click to move if you need the mouse to turn the camera?
I would like to introduce you to an MMO called Ragnarok Online, which is click to move with a rotatable, zoomable camera. It came out in 2002/03/04, is still ongoing, and at higher character levels remains one of the fastest MMOs I've ever played.
We as modern gamers are blessed in that there are at least three buttons on every modern mouse. Lclick to move & attack, Rclick (Shift+Lclick) to rotate camera, mousewheel (Ctrl+Lclick) to zoom.
The Shift and Ctrl options also let you reset the camera's rotation and zoom by double-clicking.
being in locked camera would also give the player a better immersive experience.
I'm really sick of people using "immersive" as a euphemism for "this is what I want".
"Immersive" means a game world feels real or is vividly detailed either graphically or in content / lore. A game world does not feel more real or vividly detailed from not being able to look around or examine objects and scenery from multiple angles, rather the opposite actually.
In particular, rotating the camera means secret passages, chests, or neat details can be hidden on the "dark side" of something, i.e. a rotatable camera adds an exploration element, i.e. is more "immersive". (Fractured is an exploration-based game, by the by.)

RE: Instanced Dungeons/Raids
Oh man, the idea that non-instanced dungeons "help players be more social" has me dying. How can anyone know so little about what they're talking about?
First off, if you want to handle dungeons "socially", you queue party / raid for them.
Secondly:
[Instance] BROverlord69: @(!@%ING KILLSTEAL HACKR. crawl back up ur moms peehole
[Instance] AZNLover4: wow ?? i know u hate urself and every1 else ?? but u dont have 2 take ur mommy problems out on me ??
[Instance] BROverlord69: i been camp weeks for a boss
[Instance] BROverlord69: #(@$ u
[Instance] AZNLover4: get better at the game ?? lol nub
[Instance] BROverlord69: fking &#@*$
[Instance] ejjffgf: @@@@@@@@@@@@@ FRACTUREDMUNMUN . COM 1 MILLION MUNMUN FOR $5 FAST DELIVERY GUARANTEED @@@@@@@@@@@@@
[Instance] BROverlord69: omfg shut up botThat's the kind of "socializing" you'll get from forgetting to instance your content, causing the game to devolve into a mess of killstealing and ganking and wonderful ad spots for gold bots.
Someone pointed out that people can still camp at entrances or exits to instance dungeons in order to gank players. This can be solved by semi-instancing open fields too. Just randomly divide wandering players into one of several channels / instances of the same field - repeatedly zoning will swap the player to a randomly chosen new instance, thus reducing the effectiveness of camping because what are the odds of every single channel having campers on the same dungeon at the same exact minute.
The number of instances per field would depend on how PVP-orientated the field was (more PVP = less instances) and how many players were on the field at the time (more players = more instances). As an exception, most Arboreus or Syndesia towns would have very few channels or even just one channel to facilitate "socializing" (spam, arguments, scrub brawling, and racial slurs).

RE: Milk before cereal or cereal before milk?
You always pour the cereal first so that you can pour the milk over it evenly thus ensuring even crunch.
You should pour enough milk until you just barely see the cereal start to move. Any more than that and you will likely not drink it all and waste it.
Pouring the cereal second would also cause the milk to splash everywhere.
Only a barbarian pours the milk first lol

RE: How many players will get invite to the pre-alpha tests?
@phaethonas said in How many players will get invite to the pre-alpha tests?:
How many planets will be there, at pre-alpha? All? Only Syndesia to test both pvp and pve elements? None?
For prealpha??
I personally am 100% certain we will have about three flavors of GRASS BIOME that don't quite compose a planet, and will be able to play as Human only - with female if we're lucky - and do little more than swing a sword (and not anything else) and shoot a fireball (and not anything else).
At this stage they're going to be focusing on the procedural generation actually working right, as well as the basic movement engine and battle systems. I'd be pleasantly surprised if you could attack other players yet, and if the day/night cycle was implemented.
It'll basically be a stress test to see if the game implodes when more than ten players log in and all move to different areas of the world map =p

That is a completely silly implication.

I need to build my own PC sometime, but here's the junk I got.
- AMD FX 6120 Six-Core, 3.5 Ghz

- Whatever other factory crap
No headphones at the moment. No webcam probably ever. Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard in a $20 dual pack.

RE: NPC'S AGE ?
I doubt it.
Animals getting "older" isn't a unique feature to Fractured, there are other games with similar mechanics. It isn't there for immersion either - it has an effect on experience and loot quality.
NPC aging would just clutter up the game and in the worst case completely break immersion because every NPC couple would need to generate exactly two children to maintain the original NPCs' functions and not destabilize the world population. It would add nothing and damage a lot.

RE: Suggestion about hunger/thirst
I just want to reassert that I despise death directly from the food system and would prefer a starving "status effect" that made your character weak in combat but didn't directly kill you.
Of course, you should be able to forage for base food ingredients in most game areas too. Obviously if you're going through frosty mountains like the Donner party you won't have as many options other than maybe hunting.

RE: how do we get free gear ?
You strangle a bear with your bare hands.
Then you bear the bear to a workshop with your bare bear-bearing hands.
By baring your bare bear-bearing hands you can barely make bear armor.
Then you can bear the bear armor you barely made by baring your bare bear-bearing hands so you won't be bare.
Repeat with adjustments for ore.

RE: Stance on RNG Loot Boxes
The controversy over lootboxes stems primarily from their use in pay2win games. That is, the contents of lootboxes affect gameplay.
All premium items in Fractured are cosmetic, so lootbox controversy doesn't apply. Do whatever you want, I don't care lol

RE: What you think about vaping?
@evolgrinz said in What you think about vaping?:
It's just a conspiracy to give a "healthy" alternative for smokers.
But long term effects of vaping has yet to be researched. In my opinion, it's just as bad. You are still breathing in stuff that is not supposed to be in your lungs.
You can control what you put in your vape - you don't control what goes into tobacco.
As I understand it, you can even put water in the thing and vape steam. I highly doubt this is as harmful as a typical cigarette

RE: Log of characters' interactions in game and out game ?
@gofrit said in Log of characters' interactions in game and out game ?:
@jetah If a player is ejected or have the impossibility to enter in a guild because of this "build"... better to him if he want to have fun isnt'it ? How you could have fun in guild like that If you can't play like you want ?
That's his entire point. Every worthwhile guild is at least mildly competitive and he's concerned that giving people raw numbers will encourage munchkin guilds, making it so nobody can find a guild that lets you play your own character and not, essentially, one of theirs.
Else, when you have 400 skills I think a log (with a switch enable/disable) could be usefull to understand why you can't kill a mob in an efficient way
I think it'll be pretty obvious when you're not "killing a mob efficiently", by virtue of it not dying when you hit it with things

RE: General Game Design Suggestions...
@pogo said in General Game Design Suggestions...:
A World that has to be “Thema Park” Designed will not sustain as long a generic World [...]
The argument here is that a world with distinct biomes that each spawn specific enemies and specific resources will lead to crowding and overfarming, as opposed to a wider and randomized spread of enemies / resources all over the game world.
There are a few ways to solve this with a "theme park world":
- Scaled resources: In Elder Scrolls Online, a given resource node will always spawn the same kind of resource, but it will spawn a different tier scaled to your character. There is a 50% chance the node will match your character level, and a 50% chance it will match your corresponding crafting level. e.g. If you're CP150+ with maxed Metalworking, all ore nodes you ever find will be the top-tier ore, while someone else will see a different tier of ore in the same spot.
- Instanced resources: In some MMOs, nodes only appear for specific players to begin with. Anyone else who walks to the same spot will see nothing, and you'll be free to gather uninterrupted. These resources might share to party sometimes.
- Dynamic fertility: In some MMOs, harvesting resources in a sub-area or killing many enemies in an area temporarily lowers the spawn rate of resources / enemies in that area and raises the spawn rate in every other nearby area instead. This prevents camping of one area and is especially effective if players can't tell what the fertility levels of each sub-area are to begin with.
Character Customization (Individualism). Nobody wants to look like everybody else (e.g. Albion expect Tabard and Shield)
Character customization doesn't at all guarantee uniqueness because most players are not the slightest bit creative or original. If given the ability, 2/3 of the player base will be pure black Demon ninjas with Japanese rice hats and flaming green wings named XxXS3phir0thXxX.
But for the sake of the other 1/3, I say yes to as much customization as is plausible. Keep in mind that more options means slower development for new content that has to work with all options.
Make good Social Interaction somehow rewarding vis versa. Plus you have to have a good reporting anti GoldSeller, Botting Feature. Otherwise this will ruin most likely the Economy and thrives Players away.
There's only one way to fight bots on a longterm basis, and I don't want to talk about it in public because 1. it's very complicated to explain and 2. that would help the bots defeat it before it's implemented.
But I can safely say that the practice of most MMOs to ban every bot they see as soon as they detect it is the single worst way to fight bots ever. It would literally be better to do nothing because then you free up processor cycles and manhours for more fruitful tasks.
Make the Game B2P rather than “Premium” or give it a small monthly fee
Fractured is already planned to be buy once, play forever.
If you want a broader Audience, make the game not too Hardcore or you’ll push out the Bread-and-Butter Players that you need to develop further. I mean that in the sense, that someone “with a lot of time on his hands” can outplay someone with only 2h / day to an extend where he’ll never catch up.
You really need to read the existing information. This is the first thing addressed.
Endgame is important. I’m not sure if there is a Story or a phase where you have to do things in order to get there…but Endgame, or Lategame is the part where Games stay or Fall. Most games that are still on the Market do that by “Resetting” stuff from time to time (D3, PoE,…) or just Adding tons of Content very year (e.g. WOW). I have no specific Idea here, but there should be something beside doing the same stuff over and over.
Every game eventually devolves into "doing the same stuff over and over" once you have done everything in it once. Even "new" content (new dungeons etc.) is the same thing with new skins. The game can't make up for your gaming hygiene, and it's up to you to find fun in the game that isn't rushing to "endgame" and then stopping.

RE: What you think about vaping?
@evolgrinz said in What you think about vaping?:
Vape Steam? Sure, if you want to burn your lungs and airways. You know Steam is at least 100°C right?
Have you ever been burned by the steam coming off of a bowl of soup? I haven't.
You're using the stricter sense of "steam" which arbitrarily requires the water to be above boiling temperature, as opposed to the commonly understood definition as any form of water droplets or vapor suspended in air (which does not need to be anywhere near boiling temperature.)
An easy way to tell the difference - the former is invisible and the latter is not.
Vape juice is made from the same stuff that is used for stage smoke and gives that lung kick smokers like to get.
The biggest problem comes from the fact that flavors are not regulated by the FDA, so you have no clue what you are actually smoking when buying vape juice, because producers can put whatever they want in it.Then do what most people do and create your own, the same way that smokers often roll their own cigarettes so they can skip all the rat poison.

RE: Suggestion: Just something I always wanted. Name my sword!
@jetah said in Suggestion: Just something I always wanted. Name my sword!:
there are people who Role Play and this gives them something to get immersed. filters can be used while players could report the offending names to get them changed. I see character customization more in the abilities you equip and knowledge you unlock and not how you look.
Roleplaying needs no support mechanics, and in fact benefits from not having any, because prefabricated systems are by nature limited.

I think the word we're looking for here is "vapour".
I think you should stop splitting hairs and accept that 1. the mist coming off of hot food is called steam by basically every single person on Earth and 2. this tangent has nothing to do with the topic or any substance of my argument whatsoever.
