I just know in UO pets were OP. Almost all pvm players would use them to farm gold. Usually the game puts some huge creature in with tons of hps and armor and they essentially become an unstoppable tank. I don't mind pets they just need to be balanced.

RE: Fractured - a living world?
I hope there is good use of an npc system. Npcs add to the appearance of a population. I always hated coming into a town in a game and being the only person in it. I also would like to see npc mobs spawn that you can kill...maybe npc villages out in the wild. That was a mistake I thought LIF made. They said they wouldn't use npcs. All characters in the game would be players. The world seemed so abandoned when you would walk around. You would find these huge settlements and no one would be there because the entire group who made it was offline.

RE: Fractured - a living world?
Just as long as you can't kill important npcs that generate quests, sell items etc... Otherwise you will have players going around and killing them for the fun of disrupting the community. Read here about something in WoW that happened lol

RE: Pet system can be based on UO or Daoc?
The problem is having pets you now have 2 fighting components wound into 1 player. Everything in combat is now being done twice as fast. If you can set your pet to interrupting your opponent you can concentrate on killing that opponent. I've just never seen a combat system where pets, tamed creatures, summons etc.. were not OP. If it weren't autonomous and you had to control it's every action then that might work. But if you can out it on autopilot with a command while you do other stuff then it's like a dancing sword in DnD. It's just extra damage.

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
I'd say as long as they keep rolling out the tests and working on fixes then we are doing fine. As issues come up the community can voice its concerns and the devs can take that info into consideration...or not. This is their game and we are just testers of it. Forum population doesn't even represent the whole of the community since many players won't even use forums. I know from experience because a very small portion of my guilds would ever use the forums.

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
I think pay to win is also in effect even if you can achieve the same items in the game by playing if the rates of those gains are highly out of balance. If it takes weeks or months to achieve something ingame it shouldn't take the stroke of a key buying it in seconds. Otherwise you highly diminish the accomplishments of players. The game needs active players more than it needs a quick cash grab.

RE: Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update
Connection problems will be tested when open access starts. Hopefully they can handle large loads. I remember Life is Feudal kept advertising as a mmo but then when they open up the servers it crashed after about 60 players lol.

RE: Porting Test Weekend & Alpha 2 Update
Seems from the postings the bugs don't seem game blowing.

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
@Jetah Last time we went to Universal in Florida was the last time we would ever go back. We would be waiting in lines for over an hour for rides and people with express passes would walk right through and jump right in front of us. I can see the money grab for the company but when general admission people decide it's not worth their trouble how much money are they really making?

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
I will say this, if the game drives casual players away a game will fail. There just aren't enough hard core gamers to support a game. Casual gamers are a crafters best friend. The multitudes will come in a buy up your merchandise then not play for very long periods of time effectively removing those items from game play lol.

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
@Pluto It depends on the grind time to achieve that trade in currency. If it takes weeks or months to get what a player can buy in seconds it's not a good system.

RE: Python or Javascript
When I learned programming it was Fotran 77 and Pascal. C was just coming into being. I would say as a programmer you will always be learning the latest language.

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
No matter the shortcut if it isn't cosmetic I would personally consider it pay to win. All those little advantages can eventually add up to a huge advantage.

RE: Next test phase
Once these forums opened up I haven't tried to follow the game anywhere else. I know alot of backers often complain that devs don't continue to post on their kickstarter. I think a post on the kickstarter news that all info will be posted at X location should be sufficient to direct people where they want to go.

RE: Foundation chests
Collections no matter what they are is good for devs. For alot of players collecting is what drives them in the game to stay.

RE: Week 88 - Weekly Drawing Winners
Wow thanks. Wish I could get this lucky at the lottery lol.

RE: Next test phase
@Specter Oh I wondered why all the new Italian folks had all of a sudden started posting. Good to hear some news. Just that one little post has already generated alot of replies and forum activity lol.

RE: Trading, In-game market
I'd rather not have a time decay mechanism. I have played where games had that and even your logged off time counted. I'd rather have a use decay system as well. Crafting is my love in games and I even want that lol. Otherwise you spend too much time always trying to remake gear.
UO also had the durability system that lowered the max durability each repair so eventually it just broke and couldn't be repaired. I would also like the stats of the items to not change even though durability goes down. Otherwise you might as well call it junked long before it reaches 0 durability because the stats drop so much it's not useful.

RE: Next test phase
Firefly had a guy posting on social media that would say something as little as they were still going. In fact, here are the last words posted on the facebook page lol
"We're still here. We're still flyin'. Game is still in development. Stay tuned. - Mech"
The problem with their game was Fox dropped it and then some legal battle ensued that blocked it's development. They even already paid a bunch of voice actors from the show and posted the voice bites. I was so sad to see it drop too.
Game development is a slow process. We just have to wait and be patient. The game at least has been in alpha and from all that I saw from posting was doing well.

RE: Trading, In-game market
@Gothix I hope you are being sarcastic to the other posts against pvp because that statement makes little sense lol. Should I put a wink here lol.
I personally hate decay as well but without some kind of item loss crafters get hosed. I can't think of a solution that makes everyone happy.
