      @target said in Create NPC:

This post mentions hiring NPCs to patrol for criminals.

      Good catch, Target!

For the lazy, here's the relevant part (emphasis mine):

@prometheus said in Kickstarter Update - Pledge Packs:

If you don't have a guild, you should definitely entice people to come live in your town. Ways to do so: low prices on land plots, low taxes, good management, good focus on your target (e.g. you're governing a Good-aligned town -> hiring lots of NPC patrols against criminals to police the territory around the town). Not unlike real life!

    • To MandaloreGaming fans and stock sound detectives: ...

...does any of you know what soundbite of electrocuted(?) screaming MandaloreGaming in most of his videos?

      For example,

      .

I swear I have heard it earlier, but for the life of me I can't remember where it's from.

Great news! Soon begin to translate^^

      You're a real gem, @muker.

more information is always appreciated, I think this will be a polarizing topic though, we'll see how it pans out

What do you mean? I don't see anything all that polarising - "let's make the hybrid generalist race first, and playtest the skills before we playtest how they are acquired" seems like a no-brainer for creating a minimum viable product.
      I'm genuinely curious.

@emmajane91 Ahh, good, I was worried a bit there. Carry on!

You have a nice theme. I have a soft spot for ducks. There's a spot in my city where there are a lot of ducks, and last Sunday I saw a bunch of teenage ducks.
I have no idea why I am telling you this.

It looks similiar to albion, and I love such type of games.

Hmm... What do you exactly want from Fractured that you can't get from Albion?

      • "Albion but PvE"?
      • "Albion but with flat progression?"
      • Or do you simply want some variety in a subgenre you like? (I'm a temporarily-non-practising roguelike player, I understand. 馃槢 )

Unless I'm mistaken, people seem to be responding with copy-pasted greetings to all these threads.

Anyhow - @Needlehawk, in the name of all the cheapskates and the undecided: thanks for backing the game, and let's hope it will get funded in time.

KickStarter project are a wild gamble, but Dynamight seems to be reasonable about their budgeting.

@muker Thank you for the link, but I have already knew most of what was posted in your post. Also, I'm not sure what you see, but I have all quests done except:

      • sharing news on Facebook and Twitter (don't have an account there),
      • recruitment (I don't have any friends),
      • drawings and contests.
        Am I missing something?

(Also - I posted this thread in the "Welcome to Fractured" section because it is a thread where Firefall veterans can come in and say hello. I see that this might not be all that clear.)

We're currently are the #1 ranking demon guild just look at the leaderboards. lol

So, we're not self-proclaimed at all, it's a fact. 馃檪

is there some sort of plaque in the Ladies Room for being #1 demon guild in the Foundation? 馃檪

Yes - both Ladies' Room and Gentlemen's Room have that plaque in the section for constipated MMO players.
Fear is the best laxative, after all.

    • Show of hands - Firefall veterans

As I pointed out elsewhere, Fractured shares many high-level features with now-defunct MMO shooter Firefall.
      Or rather, its beta version.
Or rather, some of its beta versions.
Or rather, the vision behind some of its beta versions.

Anyway, I just wanted to see if there are any other FauFau veterans around here, and to say "hi".

On a related note, I made a token Firefall guild, but I can't really gather enough energy to flesh it out at the moment. 馃槥

Does EVE Online count, or do you consider pointing to EVE as cheating? 馃槢

Did you close the poll prematurely, or is there something wrong with the forums?

    • RE: NEVERWINTER

I don't really see any real overlap between Fractured and Neverwinter.

Neverwinter is heavily based on instances, and the last time I played it, its "open world" is one of the most rigid and lifeless I've seen in an MMO.
Granted, since Neverwinter is instance-based, it's not productive to complain its open world sections feel like a glorified lobby - because they are a glorified lobby by design.

    • RE: What games can you relate to this?

As I've pointed out in my community of Eternal Lamenters, Fractured seems to share a lot of values with the vision behind Firefall's beta, namely:

      • horizontal progression, which means:
        • veterans and people who logged in for the first time 5 minutes ago can play together without any issues,
        • open world sandbox without any level divides whatsoever,
      • a single character being able to easily switch between different classes/builds,
      • virtually all equipment being player-crafted,
      • resource gathering being an important part of the game (I'm not sure if Fractured will put an emphasis on tracking them down),
      • action-based gameplay,
      • mobs not being catatonic resource nodes that materialise in front of your eyes.

Of course, there are also important differences, like:

      • there doesn't seem to be anything like dynamic events planned for Fractured so far (and I mean actual dynamic events, not their watered-down, extra-artificial substitute from Guild Wars 2),
      • PvP in Fractured features all flavours of open world PvP (justice-based ganking, no-holds-barred ganking, territory wars), while Firefall's beta had delusions about arena-based e-sports,
      • territory control in Fractured is a component of PvP, while in Firefall's beta it was strictly Players vs. AI Faction,
      • in Fractured, you get resources by hitting rocks with picks and trees with axes, not by calling in giant jet-powered drill (...or five) and fighting off waves of wildlife and occasional territory-conquering Strike Team...
      • ...and I don't think you'll going to locate resources by pummeling the ground with a jackhammer, either.

What I'm trying to say: Fractured seems to fill the same niche as Firefall's beta was aiming for.

    • Registration woes - password field

      I had problems registering.

I'm not going to complain about limiting the password to measly 24 characters, or not being allowed to place '$' or ';' in the password. I mean, you have to set the limits somewhere, your framework might be extra paranoid about code injection, and you're a video game company, not a bank.

What I am going to complain is:

      • The error message on entering wrong characters not being helpful. It just says "Your password contains invalid characters." without any indication which characters are valid or invalid. It would be helpful if it said "Password may only contain letters and numbers" or whatever validation rules you have set.
      • Validation rules for password are different between frontend and backend. The registration form allows you to enter a password containing a semi-colon (';'), confirm it, and click the "Submit" button, but that causes the form to be reloaded with empty password fields and the "Your password contains invalid characters." message hanging above them.

If I wasn't as enthusiastic about your game as I am, that might've caused me to abandon registration process out of frustration. It would be nice if this was fixed.

(On an unrelated note, I'm loving your forum software. This is the best post editor I've ever come across, catering to casual and power users at the same time.)
