I think any character in a game like this requires a bit of role play. It's part of the reason to play games like this to immerse yourself into a different world where other races or magic can exist. Not everyone will want to do a deep role play changing speech or such but I think all have to role play a bit. I'd like to see characters develop over the course of the game play as well. It's fine to create a back story for your character but the experiences in game should also affect the development.

Lith was falling in a deep sleep as soon she stepped into the tavern and she found a nice place close to a whispering fire. Sometimes her sleep seems to splip into a slight dream about something. But the people around her will maybe notice how her ears pointing a single conversation from time to time. A pic of the situation.
