Heroes of the Storm has apparently entered a death spiral

For those who care about Blizzard's MOBA Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard made an announcement they are shifting devs from HotS to other projects, and that they are shutting down e-sports for 2019.
They are assuring the community that this is only a minor adjustment, but you don't make an announcement for a minor adjustment, so even people who don't care about e-sports are panicking ("HotS was already understaffed!", "They made similar announcement before they abandoned Diablo 3!").That makes me sad. Even though I have barely played the game this year due to Real Life, it really was my absolutely favourite MOBA. The game did away with many peculiar abstract mechanics passed down from the original DotA and made them more tangible (walls, mercenaries, and map objectives instead of "tower will target heroes first", jungle gold gain, and Nashor/Roshan buff). Addition of mounts reduced annoying downtime, removal of last-hitting made the game less stressful, and replacing individual levels with a team-wide level nudged players from endless arguments over kill-stealing and babysitting your carry, to jolly co-operation. And, of course, there's also Abathur.
HotS showed me how incredibly enjoyable MOBA could be.
And now, it seems that 2018's spell of rough time (early-year removal of ammo on towers, mid-year broken match-making, late-year fort changes) is not going to end any time soon, and the game is going to be dead in a very near future.
...
I really hope Fractured won't die before I can binge on it properly.

Да, я только недавно послушал новость, что часть сотрудников перевели в другие отделы, кибер спорт убрали и все и них мол плохо, но это все из-за жанра, так как бороться с LoL и Dota 2 сложно.
-
This doesn't really suprise me. Blizzard is becoming more intertwined with Activision and seemingly more profit driven. Earlier in the year they held a company wide meeting and surprised employees with the announcement that one of their goals moving forward was cutting costs and saving money and putting more emphasis on showing growth. It explains their entry in mobile gaming; large amounts of money to be made for less costs.

You're replying in Russian about DotA 2 because it's a running joke in DotA 2 community that people keep running into Russians who only ever speak in Russian, yes?
That's... that's the perfect meta joke, well played, I couldn't have thought of a better reply.@target said in Heroes of the Storm has apparently entered a death spiral:

Wow, I heard about the Diablo Immortal/Blizzcon debacle, but that insider knowledge is news to me.

How dare you insinuate that muker is "maybe Russian"!
muker is not only a Very Known Russian, but also the Best Dang Visibly-Russian Russian in the whole forum, translating stuff, replying to every news article, descending upon fresh threads in Welcome to Fractured with lightning-fast speed and posting links to useful resources!
He's makes our community go round.

Somehow i expected it.
I don't trust anymore any of promises by Blizzard, since they broke so many promises for WoW.
Yes i know i sound silly, but the Dancing Studio was a real thing for my second theme guild "Dance with me!"... it never came, same as with so many other things.
They can burn in hell in my opinion. They have so much money and just drain the milk from their customers without giving them all the things they demanded over all the years.
And much things would be easy peasy developement effort for them.

He is best Russian in our whole community... he even write sometimes german words... i saw it and it
-
@dragomok i mean this annoying guy who translates all articles via google translate? Ye, without him our community will deffinitely collapse (no)
-
heroes of the storm and a game that my opinion is a lot of fun, unfortunately does not receive the due care and attention it deserves, and may eventually disappear.
-
@azazar How many times do I have to tell you it's not a full Google translation? The text would be impossible to read if it were entirely from the program.
-
Dang it, I spent countless hours and still play plenty of this game. Makes me sad the changes not going well with the masses.
-
It's simple, low end PC's (large ammount of PC players) can't run HOTS smoother than LoL.
-
Stepping out of E-Sports a minor adjustment? lol.
At least they didn't announce to shift HotS to mobile.....yet....
Blizzard is dead and from this day forward I will just call them Activision.

Hmm... Real Life, I did not hear anything about this game
To be true I have never played HotS. After your post I think I will look into it, hope I'm not too late and the game will still exist.

I mean, Blizzard cut off e-sports funding and said they are going to move HotS devs to other projects, so you have at least a couple of months left to try it.
Couple of months with no new releases and (probably) progressively longer and longer queue times, but a couple months nonetheless.
-
Well, I never expected much from Blizzard.
-
HotS was a good game, but I think they got to the MOBA party too late and just couldn't compete with LoL and DOTA2 in the end. And Activision probably pulled the plug for the game as it wasn't making enough money.
