Yeah but like I said, only a few guilds can reach that number. In Age of Conan I needed 350 active members to siege 2-3 times a week in 48vs48 siege. It puts alot of pressure on the guildleaders.
-
@benseine The only thing I loved of Albion was that forced people to be part of Big Guilds. anyway trust me that 60 is not so big. FOr sure the impact on the game to see 60vs60 is different than 20v20. You may be right and that will not give space to all but not everyone wll have space to create their city I suppose.
-
@finland I hope the city sieges won't be the only sieges, but that there is something similar on asteroids for examples, where two guilds can fight over supply camps wich reward big stacks of resources.
I played Albion too and the big fights. I know 60vs60 isn't alot compared to AO, and I'm not talking about game performance. Just two guilds fighting eachother and see who is the best. With numbers like 20vs20 you have far more competition to keep everyone happy over the years. Because how is AO doing atm? Still lots of big fights???
-
- AO does not have siege!
- GvG are just an Arena 20v20 or 5v5.
- Zergs to get the worcamp anre different cause there is no collisions. So it's just a shit of aoe monopixel.
-
Yeah I know no siege in AO, that's why I said "big fights"
True that 20 vs 20 is just an arena. I like it., willing to go for 50vs50 or 60vs60. It's alot of work, but if the game is good, it's worth the effort

I'm concerned about what kind of limitations, if any, will be placed on when raids can happen. A big problem in open world pvp settlement games (like Rust) is that your settlement can be raided and destroyed when everyone is offline. It kills the thrill of GvG pvp when you know your enemies are most likely to attack when no one is around to defend.
-
@target I suppose that they will add something to declare a war, givin 24h+ time to prepare the defence.
-
@target yeah even a hardcore ffa pvp game like Darkfall had siegetimers if I remember correctly. So everything you builded was protected untill someone applied to siege.
The thing with one worldwide server though is timewidows vs timezones. In EVE Online the alliances are so big it doesn't matter that much. But on a smaller scale you could see a split in EU settlements and NA settlements

This is an issue in most games since prime playing time in NA is around 10pm and later UTC and prime playing time in Europe is around lunchtime in the NA.
-
@kellewic yeah wondering how they will deal with it
-
I hope there will be large enough player population so that we get servers in NA and in EU.
-
@gothix you mean just split the Fractured playerbase? Or SpatiosOS servers in both EU/NA but there is still one worldwide server for the players?

I mean if there is large enough player base that one server can't handle it, then make 2 servers, 1 in NA and 1 in EU.
-
@gothix dunno if it is best to plit the community. Playing gw2 atm and I see whole guilds switch from EU to NA servers and back for god knows what reason. Rather one for whole world I think.
-
Whatever the plan might be for GvG they really have to mind that sweetspot where there are enough players to make for interesting large scale battles but not so many players as to turn everything in an incoherent mess with no objective.
-
how possible is it to have multiple servers that communicate to each other so that EU can connect to their server and NA connect to their server yet the people can still play with/against each other?
-
@jetah dunno, Star Citizen works the same way, but even more complicated
-
@Jetah iirc The Secret World worked that way. They had several servers around the world function as connection spots, but players played together.
-
@gothix something like crossrealms on WOW
