    I do know "Beastmen on Syndesia lose the powers they are granted on Arboreus", but those "powers" are buffs granted by planet, right? Is shapeshifting really counted among them? Then demons would be stronger than furries.

    It would make sense. Based on the Lore, they gain alot of their powers from the Primal energy that only their planet, Arboreus has.

    What do you mean by that, Beastkin and Demons can have higher points in some stats than 18 (and lower in some others), but on the other hand, they can only distribute 100 points, where humans have 120 points to spend. It's not that they have a free boost, it comes with a price.

    Beastkin and demon can minmax a lot better, because of affinities, they gain bonus points. That outweights an extra 20 points, that don't come with bonus, imho.

    Maybe we talk about different things, yes they can get a higher base level in some attributes then a human can (above 18). Getting you from 18 till 21 (+3) will cost you an extra 42 points, however, which you can not spend in other attributes. That combined with 20 fewer points then Humans will have to spend.

    What do you mean by bonus points because of affinities?



  • @Yitra Getting to 21 in attribute during creation will only cost you 27 points as beastman or demon, not 42. Thats imo what Gothix talking about. Still it looks balanced to me.

    Furries can still use mounts and to my understanding, they only lose the passives outside Arboreus. As long as these transformations don't respect the mounting rules and can be used in pvp, it's important to talk about balance, and right now they are absolutely broken in ganking/evading.

    if shapeshifting would increase your speed as much as Shaman´s wolf form in WoW (+40% ms) then sure yes, but if it´s just few percents, would it really make difference when literally everyone has access to increases to move speed abilities, snares and slows. We need exact numbers of bonuses ... imo only actual gameplay of beastmen in game will show how balanced / OP they are.

    As long as these transformations don't respect the mounting rules and can be used in pvp...

    If shapeshifting would follow same rules as mounting, beastmen would either not need mounting or the shapeshifting. Lets leave it as it is, but make sure its balanced.

    This is not entirely true. Even if shapeshifting has the same rules as mounting, there are situations in which it is preferable: for example, you probably wouldn't be able to mount in a dungeon, but you could shapeshift. If you just got out of a disastrous zvz and the in-combat timer run out, you can immediately shapeshift and run instead of waiting for mount summon. When dismounting, you should have CD on all the skills, which shouldn't be the case when shapeshifting. You can be dismounted, but nobody can force your shapeshifting. When doing trade runs / transports / protecting caravans, your objective will ride on high carrying capacity, but slow mounts. On foot you're too slow, mounted you'll have CD when dismounting to fight the enemy, so shapeshifting might be perfect here -> fast enough to keep up with the caravan and you can run into zvz right away if attacked. Plus, from what I read, some of their abilities are good at initiating fights.

    Problem is beastkin can fight while shapeshifted which, if speed increase is significant, would make it completely OP and game breaking.

    This is why I am quite certain shapeshift speed increase will be minor, and not even remotely close to mount increase.

    Someone mentioned ghostwolf from wow... ghostwolf was a travel form that couldnt fight.

    Absolutely agree, but speed of beastshape will surely be way lower than mounts; if not, let´s all abuse it during beta tests, devs will notice 🙂 . Still its weird that PvE specialised race gets abilities giving them advantage in PvP (except bear kin ofc) 😄

    Totally, I meant it like this. 40% is sure way too op, its basically neutralizing effect of Slow (-40% overall speed). Imo during first betas with beastkin people will complain so much on disbalance that devs will normalise all move speeds 😄

    imo thats the reason for shapeshift, personally I dont really care about MS as Im going tank 😛

    We don't know this. We know that they have combat abilities while transformed. Mounts might also have combat abilities, but you won't be able to use anything other than that while mounted. And their abilities shouldn't be strong enough to 1v1 someone.

    For example, if the wolf mount has 2 abilities: howl (short aoe buff/debuff) and jump (small invulnerability frame), you will be able to use only these 2 abilities while mounted, but you can't use your bow or cast fireballs. Once you dismount, you can use your weapon or spells, but you can't use the mount or its abilities anymore.
