Never really tought about it, but permanent mounts sounds really cool and would fit Fractured well imo.

I think it is very likely that humans could get an option for steampunk mounts.
-
@gothix i hope not, i hate when adding technology in a fantasy games.
-
@grofire Humans have access to steampunk technology.
-
@specter ya i know, but i hope it didn't.

Can I have a steam powered wagon in stead of a horse drawn wagon?

I enjoyed the pistols in guild wars 2.

@dybuk I honestly loved the whole breeding mechanic... but the RNG in BDO was killer. Like, I dedicated so much time to that and horses only had so many breeds... getting the top tier horses was so expensive it was ridiculous. I don't think their way was super realistic, nor do I think that it was perfect, but I do love the immersion that the perma-mounts gave.
Mount breeding/building/what-have-you would be a fantastic job to include, I think - just as long as they didn't do the system of limited breeds that BDO did.
-
@grofire I agree, to an extent. I think the being able to kill them adds a certain amount of risk and investment in your mount... but I think being able to steal them would cause people to just not buy them. I mean, if I bought a mount and it got stolen more than once I would probably be like "f*** it, I'm walking."

@specter steampunk type mounts honestly sound cool as hell - and I don't think there is any reason why technology and fantasy can't coexist... if it's done well, like it is with the humans, it doesn't seem invasive. It could just be that mount attainment had a difficulty curve. Like, humans could craft steampunk mounts - beastmen could go tame wild creatures (or breed them) - demons had to subdue a mount... something like that would take the typical mundane cash=mount and make it just that tiny bit more fulfilling.
I know it's a small thing in the grand scope of all of the awesome things Fractured is doing, I just love looking into the small things lol.

maybe a revival function for dead mounts?
-
so long as any mount can be trained to assist in combat, I'd be happy with perma mounts.
and by assist I don't mean to be a second player but to do a little damage-maybe some CC (like a 2 minute CD on it so it isn't OP). Horses can buck which could be a knockback or knockdown (maybe rng between the 2).
Eventually I'd love to see mounted combat. Calvary could be another set of skills to learn and could be a separate knowledge all together because you'd have to learn to do your thing but on a mount.
I was watching an anime and one theme was bringing technology to a past era. This time period didn't have stirrups! The protag gave them the design which made their calvary better than the opposing forces. Since Humans are techno freaks, what if some "research" was done on a server level (maybe linked to all servers) to add that to the game.

@jetah rng....something the devs once said they wont implement
-
@alduinne in this game stolen is only able on drops and dead people, so it won't get stolen if you not dead.
But I won't mind that if you leave your horse away from you, unattended, someone will take "stole" it.

I’m sure the subject wasn’t whether a mount could knock back or knows down. It was probably more about loot.

"Get to the choppa!"

@jetah ahh i see. the way i read was rng between the 2 options
