AFK activity in game ? (ex: fishing)
-
@jetah as much as i understood there should not be grind... so i might be wrong but that what i got @Specter what you think ?
-
@tulukaruk said in AFK activity in game ? (ex: fishing):
There should be no AH so AFK trading in safe zones sounds ok. Shops with only active trading are no fun for me and a really big waste of time.
I changed my mind. Shops should be just offline - set up a stall and it stays as you go offline. And then there should be no AFK activity at all. It's waste of server power to run a game for a player that doesn't play.
-
@tulukaruk why does the AH is bad idea ? i do not want to go throw many shops just to find what i need...
-
I'm not a huge fan of afk stuff that really nets the player anything. If much rather see players actively involved if they are leveling/improving in some specific area or skill. In regards to AH, I'm a mixed bag. I see the convenience, but to me it's also a major immersion killer. It also takes away from seeing the world if you can just go to this one place to buy whatever you need.

What I mean is that from what I understand what devs wrote is that there will be no AH at least not a global one.
-
@tulukaruk maybe not global, but i hope there will be town AH otherwise its going to be hell finding stuff u wan to by, and people will make selling sites like all big game... in my opinion its a waste.
-
In EVE online you can do some AFK mining in high security space, up to 30-45 minutes of doing something else. I hope Fractured won't have afk activity like yielding ores or wood, but allows us to be afk in our homes or specific area's without gaining materials or advantages. Just to chill and chat with fellow guild members.
-
No AH = you need to travel around to deliver resources from one spot where they are available to another spot where they are not = risk vs reward = profit = fits into sandbox open world full loot MMO
-
@gothix in a town there is no risk, so its just stupid... and btw even between cites im not sure if its a good idea, since people do not know what the price is over the other city, and will not risk there items for something that is unknown, i seen it in Albion it do not do what you think its should do... maybe if you can see the prices globally but you can buy only locally.
-
Gathering will be a grind. I doubt they'll just give us the resources in 1 or 2 swings. You'll have to replace gear too, which points back to that resource grind. If you decide to buy gear then you'll have to grind for that gold.
We may have City AH but nothing planet wide. I really believe someone will create a website marketplace so it's easier to buy and sell.

you keep saying something that i didn't seen anyone saying... i seen there will be no grind, so why u keep saying there will be ??

as i said before why make a 3rd party site ? just make the AH show the items and the prices globally, but you can buy only locally.

You said there would be no grind, as quoted below. However there will be a grind. How do you get gear? Craft it? Buy it? How do you get currency to buy gear? I'm saying the grind isn't for xp to level a character but instead it's moved to resources, either crafting resources or currency.
@grofire said in AFK activity in game ? (ex: fishing):
since there is no grind, there is no need for afk leveling, but player stores should be open 24/7 regardless if the player is on or not, that my opinion.
-
@jetah yes I understood what you said, but when I read all the dev response I never seen anything about how to get resources, I just seen @Prometheus saying there will be no grind.
-
And that grind is usually referred to 'kill 10 dogs, get 50xp' or 'keep killing dogs to get a rare item' or 'kill dogs because it's the best xp:time'.
The shift in Fractured will be from requiring xp grinds to resource grinds. We'll also have to kill loads of npc's to further unlock the knowledge system. So there will be a grind.
-
@jetah i do not know if you right or wrong i think we need to wait for @Prometheus or @Specter to tell us more...
and i think right now u just saying something that could be very wrong.
-
I'm not wrong though. Just think about how you will obtain gear. You either harvest resources to craft, which is a grind, or you buy gear, which you have to farm for, which is also a grind. If you want to damage npc's better then you need to kill more of them to unlock that part of the knowledge system which is a grind.
Fractured is moving the grind from experience to level a character to other aspects.
-
@jetah how do you know ? any of the dev told you ? if not then your just guessing....
-
I knew you were going to say that.
I've played games since ultima online back in late '90's and console games before that. I've learned a few things along the way. I've played Crowfall which doesn't have any active leveling, similar to Fractured, and the grind is getting gear. I imagine that everyone can craft basic gear and to get beyond that you need a dedicated crafter (how this will work? I don't know, but I can speculate). That crafter will need resources which I imagine everyone can gather basic tier resources but we'll need a dedicated harvester (how this will work? I don't know, but I can speculate).
We have harvesting and crafting but what about the person that doesn't want to do that, the pure fighter. They'll need currency to buy gear. How do that get that? They'll have to kill humanoid mobs that drop currency or be hired for protection by a gatherer.
This same system is in Crowfall right now. When you've been around a while you learn a few things. With critical thinking you can understand concepts without being told.
-
@jetah so basically you don't know, just guessing...
btw, so am i playing since the 90' and the only thing i can say, is that anything can happen, and assuming things will be mistake.
-
The only games i knew that didn't have a grind were platform games from the 80's and 90's. Any game with a RPG title will have a grind. That's just a fact.
