Favorite Game Mechanics?

What is your favorite mechanics in games, MMO or otherwise.
Mine has always been Housing, and it has caused many debates in myself to be decided.
Back when Skyrim first came out I beat the game and did all the achievements so I ended up selling the game. Later on they released the housing expansion so I bought the expansion figuring I'd eventually buy Skyrim again so I could see the new housing features... That expansion was never installed or played lol.

The interactable environment, the combat mechanics and the fact that is no level based but skill based

Combat system in first Mabinogi.

Most likely herbalism and potion making. I love it when games include potions other than the typical MP and HP pots.

Housing too ^^ The possibility to create your own house, and manage it as you want

Good questing and storytelling system ^^

I just want freedom. Freedom in the direction I take, freedom in how I build my class, freedom in how I tackle a quest. The less it is on rails, the better. That doesn't mean I don't play games that are on rails like WoW, but in the end I like sandboxes the most. The only reason why I don't play many sandboxes is because of the grindyness and forced PvP with hardcore elements like full loot. If Fractured manages to break that trend with for example the knowledge system and the beastmen planet, there's a decent chance I will enjoy this game. I need a lot more information to be sure, though.

My favorite one is grinding in late game. I mean, whole game should be fun to play, story nice to go throught, but at the end something to keep players in. Like rly keep them in this funny world.

Dynamic leveling system in Guild Wars 2. I absolutely love that I can play with new player friends with my max level character in their starting zones, still get rewards that can be useful to me, and not hurt their progression in any way.

I liked the combat system in Blade & Soul... a pity that after the first arc it's trashed for smashing big numbers together party play
