Legendary weapons

Hi devs and other forum members, I am wondering if there will be some kind of legendary weapons; weapons that have a super strong passive or even alter your gameplay/give new abilities, or just look epic like a giant flaming axe etc... These weapons should only be found in faraway hard to reach spots or require an immense grind. I'd really love such a thing!

I guess there will be legendary stuff on huge bosses with really low drop rate!!!

Seeing as all advantages in this game are supposed to be situational, not objective, I doubt we'll see weapons that are so obviously superior. Especially since the vast majority of equipment in this game is going to be crafted, not looted.

I have a legendary epic "staff" with super strong abilities in real life. I don't need that in the games I play because I find them too distractive and they break away from the game's experience. Keep it real plz!

I wouldn't mind if there were extremely difficult to craft "legendary" weapons that had unique looks and/or effects.

That's a bad thing to be spreading to new players. Of course weapons and armor are going to influence combat. There just won't be there upgraded versions of weapons/armor.

@finland There is certainly a difference between different types of weapons and gear. Here's what Prometheus had to say about it:
They do have different characteristics depending on the type of item and the material used to craft it. They could also have other parameters, such as the quality. A Bronze Platemail has different stats compared to an Iron Platemail but two Bronze Platemails are the same, yes. (aside from possible modifiers that don't impact the power of the item, such as its Quality)

I think a big thing here is the power creep that you normally see in other games and MMOs. I think in order to combat this and to keep things very balanced you just have to use small numbers.
If you have two different armors and the numbers are 4 and 8 to a certain stat or modifier, then the difference is not really that staggering between a veteran player that has the maximum +8, but it was hard to obtain and totally worthwhile in the longrun. Though there is very little actually effect and the player with the +4 because they just started will feel like they are adequate but still have some room to grow.
When you get to the difference between 4000 and 8000, now there seems to be a huge game and this can cause some problems. Though I think this is fine as long as the actually ratios are kept in check.

@mrchipps Well, stats aren't the only thing in which these weps could stand out. When I think about a legendary weapon, I think for example of a lightning sword that's very very hard to obtain the sword can have normal-ish stats but I'd think it would be cool if it gave you a new thunderstruck ability or aura and just looks epic. Dont get me wrong, these weps should not be overpowered, just unique in the way they look/play.
It is something I've never seen in an MMO and I really like the idea

@sharo I definitely agree. Just some kind of difference. Obviously weapons need to have something to give them a reason to be obtained. No one will waste their time getting something if there is no benefit. That's why I said having cash shop can detract from this.

Legendaries arenβt always a good thing! If easily obtained the game will definitely get stale. Hopefully, if implemented, they will be difficult to obtain!
