I personally like the idea of diseases, not just in case of vampirism, there should be way more like a harmless cold, feaver, sadness till some aggressive serious diseases. All of them combined with increases or decreases of character values while diseased.
Such a mechanic could be very interesting at all.
Imagine, you go to a fight with extremly weakness ... you would think twice next time to go out of your house with such bad condition.you get sick enough that you can't leave the bed and need a healer/alchemist to reduce the fever and experiment on making a cure.
If you go down that path everyone will make healer alt/2nd account to get rid of deceases as soon as you get it.
I think just stick to survival elements with cold etc and hopefilly add vampire/wearewoll gameplay

@benseine If will be something that will not transform people race/gameplay

not if you only accept one connection per IP

VPN can bypass that though.

Then you can just ban proxies like 4chan does!

This conversation is slowly turning form: "hey, here's an idea to give players an amazing experience" into "let's not try cool stuff because someone might try to exploit it". We are talking about a game, not about assault rifles, god dammit! There will always be people trying to cheat, exploit and so on. I've never seen a single game that has no cheats/exploits whatsoever. Does it mean we should stop making games? Don't think so...
-
@Darian Such discussions always turn into that. Because people have more fear than ideas.
But i bet the developer will take the ideas uneffected from the following "you can exploit that" and sort them into the possible or non possible list.
Meanwhile we should continue to post our ideas and ignore the crying about exploiting, because we will not know how this mechanics will maybe work till we don't get them at least on a possible developement state.
-
when posting an idea it's always a good idea to post positive, negative and exploits of it. Then try to discuss it all.
-
@jetah analysis of flaws though, shouldn't turn into a "deus vult!", "purge the heretic", crusade. anyway... love this thread. Kudos to all participants!
-
Exactly @Darian
@Jetah it goes always about good and bad points, but it should stay on topic and not drift away to discuss about how all can be cheated.
-
how it can be cheated should be discussed also.
-
Yes, but in a creative way.
It helps nobody to discuss all possible cheating mechanism before the idea is fixed. And it helps nobody if there are cryings as Darian mentioned. Especially not, if the discuss about exploits overlays the finding of the the possible good idea.
More goal leading it would be first to fix the idea and then to think about how to prevent to cheat it. Its more part of the idea itself than an extra "omg it can be cheated".
-
ideas are easy to think of but you also need to think on how it can be exploited and whether the exploits can be mitigated, accepted or completely removed.
-
yes ideas are easy to think, but not the plan for it.
I think we both circle around each other and we both mean the same, just express it in different kind

CARA FIQUEI PENSANDO, se um humano deste mundo vira-se um lobisomem e ele se encontra-se com um da raça beastman lobo, tipo como seria a reação de um do outroauhshaushua

well you could also include vampire/werewolf hybrid infection but such cases must have incredibly strict and rare conditions or else failure will lead to highly negative side-effects or else death
