"Extra-planetary" travels? Interesting!
-
Re-reading all of the website text, as obsessive MMO players do, it finally clicked that each "race" has a home planet (my first clue should have been the planets artwork ... and then this little tidbit caught my eye today:
"Stake your claim to free land in the open world, secure it from your enemies and start your own cultivation and livestock business. Your products will never be in low demand since access to food and water is essential for survival, especially when venturing into long extra-planetary travels."
For some reason, until now, I didn't put 2 and 2 together! I take it this means that resources (and other things) harvested from one world could be in-demand (and transported) to another world via some mechanic or system?
Maybe I'm reading too much into it... but I'm liking the way this is going

I didn't notice that either but it sounds cool! So there might be more than just the three home planets (Sydesia, Arboreus and Tartaros)? I tried to find clues or names but didn't notice any yet.
-
@Lethality you're guessing right! Not only each planet, but also each region within a planet, has its own unique distribution of resources. Since there is no global banking and no global marketplace / auction house, it's up to the players to physically move resources around. Travels between planets are possible - we're talking magical means here, not sci-fi - but how easily they can be performed depends on your race, from the planet you're in, and from the destination. This is one of the first things we'll be covering in our upcoming dev journals so stay tuned!
@Rofus there are only 3 main planets, but there will be other regions in space you'll be able to visit: asteroids passing through the solar system! They'll be suitable for experienced players and one of the main stages for large-scale guild battles

...asteroids passing through the solar system...
So I guess the planets are in the same solar system orbiting the same star(s)? Will the planetary positions affect how easy it is to travel between planets? Will the planets have different orbital periods and thus have different season lenghts (if there are season in the game)?

I can't reveal it all now, so I'll restrict myself to a few hints:
- Yes, the three planets are in the same solar system, therefore orbiting the same star. You can notice that in the image in the home page too.
- Let's just say that orbits matter, in particular when a planet interposes itself between another planet and the sun - that is, in the event of an eclipse

I assume each planet follows its own distinctive rules, how does that work if someone travels from one planet to the other. Is he then subject to the rules of the planet? And is that a system similiar to "low security/high security" which punishes acts of crime differently, like a rogue planet with high risk and reward?

Yes, you're subject to the rules of that planet, which don't include only PvP rules and the "criminal system", but also racial buffs / debuffs, and more. Tartaros is probably even more than the "rogue planet" you're suggesting - it has open PvP and zero consequences for criminal actions.

Is there going to be some sort of "story" that we can learn from playing the game? Maybe some legend or tales of the planets, interaction of races, etc.

Yes, there will be! I'll address this question too in the June Feature Spotlight
-
So wait a minute is there going to be space travel in this game?
-
@ravensong Make no mistake. There will be 3 planets, one for each of the 3 races, depending on the race you choose you will start in a different planet. After that, as far as we know, you will be allowed to travel to the other 2 planets of the other 2 races, but we still have no info as how those travels will work, so we have to wait for more info
-
If we get to build ships or something that would be INCREDIBLE!
Actually having to work on it to make sure its space worthy and can pass flying tests
Stocking food up for the travel. THAT IS RPG!
-
@frost I like deep immersion in games sorry if I got over excited, thts the type of RPG I would like
-
@ravensong I like that too so donΒ΄t worry
-
I doubt there will be spaceships. Prometheus mentioned earlier in this thread that travel will be magical, not sci-fi. For example, according to the feature spotlight about races, demons can travel to other planets with relative ease but lose strength over time. Reminds me a bit of those stories where demons can travel beyond the demon realm but lose power when they aren't tethered to their home turf.
-
@vengu Well with all honesty I hope that's the case.. I do like ships, but not space-ships.. I'm not a big sci-fi fan, so if it's magical that's good for me ^^
-
I really just want to know what the game will look like, to be honest.
-
@tamdemonium For the time being, this is the only thing we have https://images.fracturedmmo.com/call_to_action_background_07.jpg ^^
-
Would be cool if i could explore other planets like SWKOTR
-
Yesss, i'm soooo hyped with this game
