What about solo players?

Naturally, sandbox MMOs will play out better with a group, and groups will all round have a huge advantage. They could definitely make playing solo fun, however, those can potentially end up making groups even more effective if they aren't careful.

I agree - that's how it should be. Playing in groups should be easier and more effective while playing solo should be possible and playable.

I don't understand why some of you want to force us to play the game the way you like instead of the way we like it without affecting your way of playing.

@tulukaruk it’s the internet, people will always want their way.

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@drunkrussianbear I believe we can aspire to be better then average community! πŸ˜„

what's the point to solo play? it's a MMO if you know what it means. You are supposed to play with others. If you like solo you can play single player games like tetris πŸ˜‰

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@drunkrussianbear after @Finland comment I have to take back what I said 😞 seems like even reaching that low point of average might be hard.

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@tulukaruk I really enjoy playing with others I really don0t see the point of solo.. for sure you can do solo things but harder and not so safer like being in a group. I hope for a friendly community and lots of new friends to play with. You should do the same πŸ˜‰

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@finland it's not really friendly if after few posts explaining why some of us will play mostly solo you say we shouldn't be allowed to play at all if we want to go solo.

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@tulukaruk I can turn it back tho. If you mind to play solo you does not look so friendly to my eyes. Hermit. Sometimes I may look aggressive but what's the point to play solo a MMO?

  • TF#8 - GENERAL AMBASSADOR

I am interested to see how there solo player experience plays out. I love being apart of a social group but ultimately i prefer to spend 80-90% of my time solo, exploring, crafting, and engaging open world pvp. excited to see how there solo experience will hold up.

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@finland read this topic the answer is here πŸ˜€ and there will be tons of group players. Why would you care what some of us - solo players - think or do if we don't really affect your gameplay.

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@tulukaruk You are right! I was just wondering and asking why. I suppose you have no answer for it. Btw you all can play solo if you like ;).. I was just curious to know what's the point/the reason to solo play a MMORPG

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

@finland what I meant was it was already answered 😁 some play solo because of work related reasons, some just like solo or have troubles socializing but still like to compete against others. I'm sure there are other reasons as well. I just want all of us to have as much fun as possible πŸ˜€

  • TF#2 - MESSENGER

@konigdb Same problem here though is always useful to be part of a guild

Why play a game with pvp if you aren't going to pvp?

    @ everyone:

What type of solo activities do you enjoy? I'm not sure if Fractured will have instanced or not dungeons or raids but I'm curious. Don't list gathering and crafting/building either. Something outside of that.

IE I can see exploring the world as being a great solo (or group) activity. I could see Fractured having a fog of war everywhere without a map. An explorer could create a map and sell/trade/give.

  • TF#10 - CONSUL

    @Jetah none said that's a pvp game ;).. It's a MMORPG or am I wrong?

  • TF#1 - WHISPERER

Sometimes you just want to turn off guild chat and just kill some mobs or roam solo. It's inherently worse option cause for pvp you have less targets to jump on - unless you want to try 1v2 or 1v3 ppl and if you pve you're always more vulnerable to being ganged - thats enough of disadvantage to play solo and it should be like that - no point in trying to change that artificialy.

  • TF#7 - AMBASSADOR

Guys, a "solo player" isn't completely ignoring every single other player in the game forever. That won't even be possible, since the vast majority of player equipment is player-made, and it's infeasible for a single player to level up a legion of crafters AND a main. Also, they will still be aggressed by PKers from time to time.

A solo player just doesn't want to play nothing but party dungeons, especially raid dungeons, as the only lategame PvE option. I agree completely. Parties and raids are the most boring part of any MMO because they dumb all the mechanics down to big numburs ruh ruh ruh - Blade & Soul was one of the worst offenders, with its elaborate combat system becoming generic skill-spamming in party play.

Having a group of specialists nullifies the vast majority of status effects and boss quirks because someone or another can just cast a spell to turn those quirks back off. Healers will make status effects vanish, controllers / stunners make bosses' backup dancers irrelevant, etc. etc. It basically becomes a game of Simon Says mixed with Cookie Clicker.

The fact that character progression is tied more to achievements than to grinding also reduces the relevance of party play in the first place, because parties and raids are always the best way to grind XP (since as discussed they're math for morons mode), except you allegedly don't have to grind as much or at all in this game. Good for that!

I'm more of a lone wolf, most of times. So I'm hopping there is good game play and content for solo players.

  • TF#5 - LEGATE

I like to play solo most of the time.
