This might not be specific to Fractured. In my country the schools started, the restaurants and cinemas are finally open, workplaces get more orders after half a year of idling etc. I'm usually quite active, but I've been too busy to check the forums in the past 3 weeks or so.

RE: Death Penalty of losing all gear and inventory: WORST IDEA EVER!!!
@gsun2866
"Successful MMO" is a very broad thing. This is a niche game inspired by Ultima, with a different focus from ESO. The main idea of losing gear when dying is to keep the economy alive without the need of adding new top tier items all the time. -

@Ostaff said in Coinage and Monster Gold Loot:
Taxes should only be taken out at the end of the sale, and be based upon the amount the item actually sold for,
Yep, this. If you do it as Gothix said, people will try to play the market by putting ridiculous prices on less common stuff that are not actually valuable and hope they sell. In Albion, me and some friends used to buy in bulk all the low demand but rare items (as the first monthly mounts) and then put them again on the AH on 3x price (which would be now the minimum price and it looked like they were in demand). With AH taxes, people can still play the market, but instead of going the absurdly overpriced route, they'd pick something more reasonable to ensure the items actually sell.
Of course that ultimately there will only be a few central markets (located near the inter-planetary gates) and some small ones (located near popular farming areas), but unlike what some claim here I have absolutely no doubt people will prefer AH to trading channel in the vast majority of the time. The only time when this doesn't apply is when you have a very hard to sell and terribly expensive item.

RE: New Enchantment finder System for you.
Awesome of you guys to share this! We should have a thread dedicated to these resources.

RE: Coinage and Monster Gold Loot
@Gothix
And you just described perfectly the reason why portal towns will be by default the trading hubs.The reason why I dislike the auction system (the one with bids) is that you'll need to camp the market for the last few minutes because otherwise someone will outbid you by 1% or even 1 gold, plus often I'll want items instantly.

RE: Idea. Holy trinity
@Shivashanti said in Idea. Holy trinity:
And btw the classic holy trinity is Tank/Healer/Damage Dealer
I'd argue what OP said makes more sense: tank / healer / dd is not a stone scisors paper situation, but archer > mage, mage > warrior, warrior > archer is.

RE: Power Gap Struggles
SO FAR the devs focused on the clan/party content. It doesn't mean we'll never have solo content, but we don't have it yet.

RE: shitty game
To be fair, full loot pvp mmo is a niche subgenre in general, so it's no surprise that some people will not like it. You're one of them. What's not understandable is why did you have the urge to create this thread and insult people instead of going on with your life. I hope you find a game that better suits you requirements and wish you the best!

RE: shitty game
@munch @Roccandil
Fractured is much more forgiving than Albion when dying to PvE. After you died once, it's easy to understand what went wrong and how to avoid it. In Albion you lose durability, which lowers your IP and can be quite expensive to repair. I haven't played the game in 2 years now, but I remember how painful it was getting a bad party and dying in HCE. -
RE: Your goals
My main goal is to help the guild I'm in progress as much as possible. This will potentially open end game content for me and the people I play with, which would not be possible by playing solo or in a very small group of gankers.

I guess an arts section or "creative corner" would be a good idea.
OP wasn't talking about a fan art section, but about this kind of threads being in the same section as the actual game news.

RE: Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?
@OlivePit said in Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?:
I also would like to figure out what the pk players may be building so I can try to counter it.
Whatever offers the least risk when hunting people. Usually, the priority is mobility so you can easily chase or disengage, then some damage and CC. Looking at how dex and con (through frenzy) give a big chunk of movement speed, I think most gankers will put points in these 2.
I see no counter to the power word stun/death when the enemy has max charisma other than also having max charisma.
It's not like those are the only hard CC or execute abilities in the game.
Let's compare PW:S to bash (which has no counter if you have low CON). With 20INT, PW:S can be cast every 20sec and stuns you for 3sec. With 20STR 16CON, bash can be cast every 10sec and stuns for 2sec.
Let's compared PW:D to assassinate. PW:D executes people with 30% HP or less unless they have higher CHA than you and survive willpower check (INT), no effect on people over 30% HP, 20sec cooldown with 20INT. With 20PER, assassinate deals 840 true damage to people with 30% HP (=executes targets with max HP < 2800). Assassinate can be cast every 20sec regardless of enemy HP (it deals 600 true damage on targets with 50% hp).
Another important point here is that the person who put 18points in CHA took them from other stats which might be more beneficial to them. The longer the duel, the less powerful PW:D is because your enemy can spam an extra ability.
If Int is a 'must have' stat for the memory points then focusing on things that Int defends against in my attack bag wont be as effective.
In that case you just want enough INT to cover your memory needs... which depends on the build but for most non-casters it's around the default value. So, it's not like everyone will be super tanky against mages.

RE: Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?
For anyone interested, there's a table and chart about how much do different luck values (-100 to 1000) affect different chances (5% - 95%) in this post: https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/11600/anyone-figured-out-what-does-luck-charisma-affects-exactly/7

RE: opinion on most recent alpha test
@Xzoviac said in opinion on most recent alpha test:
Could do with dynamic resource spawns, branches are not keeping up with the player base in the start area.
A solution would be to greatly increase the resource respawn rate of raw materials when the server starts. Two weeks afterwards they can revert it to normal and everyone is happy.

RE: New Player Feedback
Ok, we've derailed this thread too much, reason why this will be my last reply here. To address your two points:
https://notch.tumblr.com/post/11518566613/happy-birthday-us -> second paragraph
As a pop term, by "indie" people usually understand "garage studio" instead of "not funded by a publisher". I mean, using the second definition, the term "professional studio" doesn't make any sense as being the opposite of "indie". -
RE: Player towns should not be safe
This sounds like a neat idea until you realize that every time you'll be afk in town you're going to bank all your stuff, or until you do mass crafting and you have to sit in front of the monitor watching a bar go blue instead of being afk. I don't dislike PvP in towns altogether, but the tavern/crafting facilities area should be safe.

RE: General feedback
@Roccandil said in General feedback:
Albion's system of trashing gear when killed in PvP is a good one,
Agreed on this one! Some items also get "lost" when you sell them to the black market, so this also help in the sustainable economy goal. Black market in general is a cool feature because it allows mobs to drop some items while keeping the idea that everything is crafted by players.
The problem with Fractured is that there will be little PvP in Arboreus. My solution would be: items should be repairable, but unlike other planets, on Arboreus they'll also lose max durability (which can't be restored). Regardless, going through 3 spears in a night of farming is not reasonable.

RE: Quarterstaff Stunlock Build Really Is The Most Efficient Melee Build So Far...
I made a table here about how different luck values modify different chances.
PS: Some mobs (animals, spiders, goblins) have less piercing armor than crushing armor. In that case, spear has faster clear-time and you kill most of them within the two aoe stuns anyway.

RE: Basic mechanics. Campfire, fight, grind and camera.
@kellewic
You have to account for the fact that right now the population is low and you're the only one collecting those stones. Looking how fast you go through arrows and how much they weight, it might be quite hard to solo pve as an 6STR archer in a zone without lots of animals.
