RE: Uninspired Confidence
Could be a troll, but I think it is far more likely it was a disgruntled user who lost interest. Vented and left I suppose.

RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
Friendly fire is already going to be in groups and guilds. It was one of the really early videos it was mentioned IIRC
-
RE: How big should guilds allowed to be?
If there are caps they will just have sister guilds.
It is best to use in game mechanics to prevent guild domination of a server. Think balance and over extending resources etc

RE: Is this game using these Unity Asset Store assets and why?
Using store assets to free up time for more important aspects of the game is a no brainer. Especially for indie studios.

RE: Upgradable Pets
Didn't we reach a conclusion that it would not be hordes of pets? Where each summoned pet takes away from a counter of some kind, similar to attacks taking energy and whatnot? Or was that another game, everything I follow gets muddied together. Especially when one sits on the backburner haha

RE: Houses in the wilderness
True, but wood is definitely treated in this day and age in order to protect itself from the elements. Take a stained deck vs an untreated deck.
I'm no carpenter, but I'll take the stained deck lol. Whether that applies to Fractured, I could not care less. In fact, I would argue maintenance costs should be more expensive in a city

RE: I hope your happy FRACTURED team!!! :)
In the future I would recommend going for used parts. You can really get good deals on top of the line gear from the previous generation.
My current build has a 1070 ti I snagged for $150 this summer haha

RE: Knowledge System Account Wide
@Jetah said in Knowledge System Account Wide:
i dont think it'll happen at release. if the game has to swap to f2p then it may.
but it could work to get people to try out other planets/races.
the only problem I can see is once the locations and methods of learning knowledge are out then it'll be create the 1 human, 1 demon, 1 beast to get what you need then get off the planet you hate the most.
I do not see that as an entirely bad thing... As you say it gets people to try out the various planets. People could end up finding a planet they actually enjoy, when they would not have put as much effort into it otherwise. For example, I do not really plan on rolling with a beastman. Perhaps I would actually enjoy it, but it will be a low priority for me to try them out.

Hahaha, the naivity here is asasine. A manufacturer does not pre sale a coat for $50 and then offer that coat on pre sale sale for $40.
In any case I have made my point and you are just going in circles for the sake of argument.
i purchased a headset through kickstarter and when it was sold retail, it was cheaper than i bought it.
"bought a headset on KS, after the headset was delivered i found out it was being sold for the same price i bought it for via KS but was told it'd retail for more. oh well."
Okay, now I just think you are blowing smoke because your story keeps changing. In any case, physical goods are not digital goods.
One such reason a physical product can become cheaper is they change the materials used and you end up with a lesser product. That or if the technology used within the item decreases in cost (ie screens in a VR headset, cheaper screens equals a cheaper headset)
Bottom line is it was scummy behavior. They targetted certain packs to squeeze more money out of their backers.
No amount of hemming and hawing about this headset will change that lol

RE: Fog of War
Have not read the entire thread yet, but I kind of like the idea... But for night time/darkness. It would make raids at night pretty interesting. However, there would probably just be a meta of spam light sources everywhere

RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
Seems like you are backpedalling.
At multiple points you directly quoted my comments about MMOs not being sustainable on cosmetics alone. Make up your mind please
-
RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
I will accept that for the first round we had against eachother but then you directly quoted this:
"Not many MMOs can get by with just B2P and cosmetics. (I do not count BRs as MMOs)"
At which point you made a plug for AoC
-
RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
That is literally the definition of convenience though. You purchase a frame to get it at your convenience while others farm
-
RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
Both are still convenience items though. Buy a frame, or grind for it.
Nowhere have I said either are pay to win. They just are not solely cosmetic operations
-
RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
Path of exile sells convenience items. You can buy extra tabs
Warframe you can buy warframes
I completely understand the situation, I am saying your assumptions that it will sustain the mmo itself is speculation. Heck the BR has only been out a few months, we do not even know if that alone is sustainable
A cosmetic only model sounds fantastic, but it is also naive unfortunately. I mean they literally already sold convenience with the carpenter
Like I have said before, I think a better discussion is "what will we put up with"
-
RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"
It was actually commentary on BRs in general, fortnight, pubg etc. I assume they can make it work because the infrastructure is not as taxing. A mmo is another story. I do not know of a single MMO that is purely cosmetic
Some have tried, but found it does not work.
Everything you are saying is speculation. Get back to me when AoC is a mmo.
I think rather than get up in arms about convenience (it is an eventuality), it would be better to have a discussion on what is acceptable.
Which is why I personally think they should flesh out their plan a little more
-
RE: Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience"

Yes that is ideal, but I would not expect it long term.
Also, cosmetics are not easy to introduce they require a good amount of dev time

@Xzoviac said in Rhykker Mention of "Pay for Convenience":
@Pluto so you think people want 2 subs? Imo that wouldnt work and would make the company look greedy
No. I think you will notice that I mentioned a true sub model is not possible at this time. It would have had to be a discussion before any packs were ever sold
A true sub model involves a monthly subscription to pay for the base game and all updates. There is no VIP, no convenience items, but there could still be cosmetics
