Depending on how it's used the musicianship skills might be a type of range attack. It would depend on the range that the music can reach and the damage it can do or if it's more crowd control type skills.

I'd prefer my cosmetic pets to be just that pretty to look at and with some antic or sayings to keep me amused but have no effect on game play. I don't even care if they can't be seen by others, heck in a PVP setting I might prefer they are not seen by others I don't really want them picking random stuff up that I may not want or need. I've had pets in other games that would do that and it usually just annoyed me because they would pick up things I would just trash.

@jetah I have to admit I'm not very knowledgeable about issues with the skins and PVP.

One idea if this is a big concern might be to have skins that will only apply to a certain base class for example skin to 2 handed weapon can't be used on the daggers or a heavy metal skin can't be used on cloth armor.

You would probably still lose some of the information than just a base item look but at least it would be in the same family.

I'm also not sure how doable that would be from a programming perspective but I can't remember buying a skin for my bow and being able to use it on a sword so it must be somewhat possible.

@gothix I agree. I don't mind if the whole set is an option even at a discounted set price, but I'd like to have the option of just picking up the chest or the boots or whatever if I don't want the whole kit
