RE: ♪ What music are you listening right now?
Stumbled onto a Spotify playlist called 'Your Favorite Coffeehouse'. Super chill background music. Not really listening to it, just a nice backdrop to have on shuffle while I do other things.

RE: Limited/rare items?
So long as it doesn't break the economy.
It doesn't really matter how 'rare' something is. If it is grindable at all then a large enough group of players will find a way to grind out large volumes of that thing if it is valuable enough. And it it is the strongest X in the game - even by a very small margin - then simply by being the strongest X in the game it becomes valuable enough for large numbers of players to grind.
So if at all possible, I would want to have the best materials be rare, but have the best equipment should be the result of combining the best materials with the best crafters. That will keep the economy running the way it's supposed to do.
So rare drops are still possible - just not anything that gives any kind of power-level advantage.

RE: What you think about vaping?
It's safer and cheaper than regular smoking, which is good.
It's still bad for your health though. But then again, so is most of what makes life worth living.
Biggest downside is that it does make the user come across like a bit of an edgelord to non-vapers.

RE: What kind of Arch-type are you?
@TheGreatElleon
I'll refine the specifics later once the game is up, but right now if we assume 8 slots for abilities, I'm expecting a breakdown something like this for my 2-Handed Berserker hellfire demon:- Standard attack ability, standard DPS (Warfare)
- Alternate attack ability, burst or AoE DPS (Warfare)
- Charge/leap/initiate/escape ability (Warfare)
- Stun/CC ability (Warfare)
- Slow/interrupt debuff ability (Warfare)
- Fire-based damage ability (Evocation)
- Context-dependent abjuration ability (Abjuration)
- Context-dependent divination ability (Divination)
Obviously that depends massively on some assumptions about what will be in the game. For example, I'm expecting that there will be an ability to jump and strike the ground with a two-handed weapon that could be used to close the distance to an enemy, and that there may be a stomp ability that does a brief AoE stun, and that there will be a snare ability to slow individual opponents, all within the Warfare school. Any of that may turn out to be false, so obviously I might have to change things around a bit.
And I'm assuming that divination will have at least one quality-of-life ability that I'll want to have on me to make PvE easier that's worth a slot in this build.
If my assumptions hold and a build like this turns out to be viable, this feels more like a primarily warrior/berserker build with a splash of magic thrown in, rather than a true multiclass character.

RE: Character Creation: ideal build analysis, and discussion of initial attribute builds
@therippyone said in Character Creation: ideal build analysis, and discussion of initial attribute builds:
I assume that this is more an expression of how bad the malus are, as much as anything (and that the malus at 6-8 is notably worse than it is at 9, by the devs thinking)
FYI, I asked about this back when the racial stats were released.

@kairosval said in Feature Spotlight #5 - Character Creation, Attributes And Resting:
It seems weird that the cost of attribute increase for 7 and 8 are both 3, but that the cost of attribute increase for 10-15 is 2 per level. Then the cost per attribute goes back to 3 for 16 and 17, then up to 4 for 18 to 21.
Having 7 and 8 cost three seems like a weird deviation from the rest of the pattern.
I'm not complaining about it. Just curious as to the reasoning. It's to make it more viable to lower a stat below 10, given the penalties for doing so are quite heavy. You made an example of a character with 6 PER and CHA - that's one who would have a hard time doing PvE (can't identify items, has very bad luck) and in PvP would be smashed by any half-decent user of Assassination and/or Illusionism. Doesn't mean it's not a viable character, but very unbalanced

RE: NPC reaction to your race
I think I can remember someone from DS saying that demons will be attacked by the wild animals on Arboreus, including animals that are normally neutral to players.
Can't find a reference for it right now though.

RE: What kind of Arch-type are you?
But to answer the actual study: I put Berserker as my archetype, but I plan to wield a two handed weapon rather than dual-wielding.
I'll have a splash of magic in there too, but not enough to qualify as multiclass in my view.

RE: NPC Strength
Guards will gain experience and ranks, I believe?
I'd expect an inexperienced guard to be beatable in 1v1 without having to work too hard for it, a middle-strength guard to be balanced for 1v1 such that the guard is just as likely to beat the average player as the average player is to beat the guard, and a highly experienced guard should require teamwork to take down.
Alternatively, if that turns out to be too trivial to beat, it might get balanced up so that an inexperienced guard is balanced for 1v1 against the average player, a middle strength guard requires a small group to beat, and an experienced guard could behave like a mini-boss requiring a team to take down.
But I think the first option is the better balance point. Will need to wait and see.
Something something game balance will be an ongoing exercise something.

RE: Multiple Diablo Projects
First I've heard of it.
But after Diablo III, I'm really burned out on Blizzard and the Diablo franchise. They made an incredibly pretty storybook, but it didn't live up to Diablo II. There are ways they could have improved on Diablo II, but in my view they lost the magic. I'll have to see that they've got it right before I get hyped up.

RE: Demon Redemption
@tulukaruk said in Demon Redemption:
How should a good demon be treated on Tartaros? Should Babilis still ignore him in his curses? Should evil beast-kin be able to roam freely on Arboreus? Why would Tyros tolerate him? That's why I do hope that there will be some restrictions in alignments.
From my understanding, the only way to be a 'good' demon is to be an Angel. AFAIK demons can only be evil or neutral, we're locked out of choosing Good even if our Karma was high enough.
As for Angels, again I think I can remember @Prometheus saying in one of the chat Q&A streams that the quest to become an Angel is linked to Tyros, so Angels will probably be locked in to worshiping Tyros.
So I'd expect Angels on Tartaros to have the usual impact where they are immune to Babils' curse, but every Demon in the area gets notified that a goodie-two-shoes Angel has touched foot on Tartaros.
But I can't back anything here up with a reference, it's going from memory with a little bit of speculation. So grain of salt this stuff.

Yep, I remember Prometheus saying that transformation would be permanent. No take-backsies.

Charisma is the skill that determines how many 'creatures and companions' you can control at once. That might extend to raised dead, although necromancy isn't listed as a charisma based school, mainly intelligence based, so I dunno
I wouldn't be surprised if the limit is based on your charisma, but at the same time, how charismatic do you have to be to tell something with no free will what to do? It might just be based on your intelligence or maybe on perks you learn in the necromancy tree
Necromancy is an INT + CHA based school
