I'd prefer that stats not weigh in heavily for anything that you do. I'd like them to only give minor bonuses/penalties when affecting skill outcomes. How skilled you are should determine if you succeed or fail in my opinion.

RE: Real Crafting
@Xzoviac Ah yes I do remember that. LIF had the same exact thing for processing hides. You had to refine your metals as well. It was a lengthy process in the game to craft. Wonder what the time variant is going to be on processing raw materials for crafting. That alone will probably drive alot of players out of the market and make crafting more viable for profit.

RE: Real Crafting
I personally don't want to go through a complicated process that takes a significant amount of time just to create one item.

RE: Real Crafting
A game is not a game unless there is some element of chance involved. I see all crafted items having base stats with stats added based upon materials used. Then add in a small amount of stats based purely on RNG. That makes almost every created item have unique stats.
Anyway it sounds like the devs have already figured out how to do crafting. Sounds more like original UO style where everything crafted is the same. The truly unique will be controlled by the availability of the the best resources.

RE: Alpha 1 - Test 2 Launch Day Revealed
We need a test soon. When I log in and pretty much all I see are hello posts means info to talk about is drying up lol.

RE: Unique mounts
SWG had single run prints. They created a nice system with the market. They dropped from mobs so the combat players found them then sold the blueprint to a crafter.

RE: Bought the Governor pack
Oh cool like a bedroll in other games I've played.

RE: Real Crafting
Rather than seeing the need to craft stuff be for negative reasons to keep the market going, such as loss of items and item decay, I'd rather see positive reasons. These being items that require special materials, materials that have several stat components that when crafted then create marginal random results on the item for those stats based upon your skill and a random roll. Randomness is part of life. Even machine crafted products on an assembly line do not all come out on the end as the same product. Random things affect the process you just can't always control. If you have several stats on your items then this creates very different products among players. UO went over to a system like this. It made my market quite interesting. I had players who sought different armor penetration qualities on their weapons and armor. PvP players had a different need than PvE players it seemed. The devs talked about imbuing with magic also. That seems like a possibility to manipulate those stats even further which then means even different final products. All of this means very different results from crafter to crafter.

RE: Unique mounts
Unique items are a merchants most sought after items. I always loved when a game incorporates anniversary items. Hold onto them for awhile and then the price skyrockets lol.

RE: Bought the Governor pack
Will there be instant logging if you are not in combat? Reason I ask is if you have to get offline in a hurry how can you insure your character is in a safe spot to log? With the travel system the way it is you can explore for a long time and be away from home. Once you are you currently have no quick way home for logging out. Real life happens and if it does it would be nice to not log back in and find myself dead and the first thing I have to do that day is go reequip

RE: Real Crafting
Or...like we have done in other games a community has a guild on both sides of the border where their alts play and one group meets the other half way to make the pickup. Large organized communities have benefits. Back in the day we had to use instant messenger programs. Now with real time chat things are so much easier to coordinate.

RE: Real Crafting
I can see players having alts on the different planets to sidestep the resource availability issue lol.

RE: Latest Newsletter
I got the newsletter today. I read it but when I came here didn't get credit for it. Maybe it will show tomorrow or maybe that's what happened to the other 5 lol. Oh well no worries I don't come here for the points

RE: Latest Newsletter
Oh cool. I already misplaced 5 of them during the early weeks of joining the kickstarter lol. Thanks.

RE: Real Crafting
@Znirf No worries. I understand the game is in flux. Alpha is also a great time to try things to see if they work, tweak, and even alter dramatically things that don't work. Has it been decided how many stats will be incorporated upon an item? UO did something like this when they revamped their item system. They added in several different stats for each type of elemental defense/attack type. With these stats being different and randomized you could essentially make almost every item crafted in the game unique. Diablo even had this similar system where the name, if good enough, came with a randomized legendary name.

Latest Newsletter
I see we were sent another, however, it never arrived to my email. I checked the junk mail and deleted folders and nothing. Latest one I received was about pledge packs going on sale. This happen to anyone else?

Will we be able to have all the recipes or will we have to pick and choose which ones we keep?

RE: Real Crafting
SWG had special blueprints that dropped as loot. UO also had the BOD system that dropped different items from doing those. SWG had one of the best crafting systems I've played in a MMO. Having resources spawn with different stats made crafting very unique. It just made it hard to break into crafting if someone was sitting on a huge pile of the best resource that ever spawned.
I don't mind quality of tools being tied to the crafted item as long as there isn't a durability factor that causes you to have to replace your tool ever few hits. I liked SWG having factories where you could load it up with a schematic and it pumped out items while you were sleeping lol.

RE: Steam Sale!
They have been adding DLC to Kingmaker. Not much but enough to make me want to play it again lol. I also kicked Ashes of Creation but I fear I will need a new rig before I can play that one. I got my computer I have now when SWTOR came out lol.
