@Greenfire i rewrote some parts and added the 's' to the 'he'. Awkward to say that 'your gender is fixed'. That sounds so weird...

RE: Why MMO if you like to Solo?
@dragomok said in Why MMO if you like to Solo?:
I play MMOs solo for
Reson #4: I have no social circle
Apparently there are a lot of people who drag parts of their social circle - their friends, acquaintances, colleagues, work buddies, barbers, dog groomers, frenemies, husbands, wives, secret lovers, overt lovers, "it's complicated" paramours, vicars, and fellow FLGS attendants - into multiplayer games they play.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I don't have a social circle. If not for my family, where noone else is interested in video games, I'd be alone as a dog.
So whenever I hear some insensitive self-appointed MMO gatekeeper say "hurr durr em-em-ohs are social games you shouldn't play them without a group and the devs should stop catering for carebear casuls like you", I get pretty salty. (Especially since, as I pointed out in Reason #3, MMOs are one of the few games where you can actually meet people.)
@Gamble - I hope you feel sufficiently smothered with reasons, mhm?
I have a social circle (two players of course are not a circle.), but somehow never in a game that I am playing. I still don't get why people get upset if a solo player is gaming in an mmo. (other mmo-not-solo users are so much social. yeah right. mostly -as far as all the games I have played mmo-teams end up in solo players showing off and a bunch of mindless repeaters that want to shout their opinion. why I have an opinion? as a former military I know there is no 'i' or 'me' in 'team'. ) and to form a team you need players that are not part of a team. and if mmo players would be more social there would be less solo players.
so I like the #3 as well.. mmo to meet other players. -
RE: Excited?
The thing that gets me the most exited is the idea that this game might bring together all my old friends from CoE's Tryggr into a game that actually delivers!

@Jimbolini LOL... ok. logically it is all not set in stone. But having lore and stuff doesn't hurt.
i'll add the free buffet and cheap beer to the map. -
RE: Nice songs to listen pls!
@dragomok
firefall... it was a good game... in early days... we had a few days, maybe even weeks of fun in it.although i am not OP,
interesting choice of music. Definetly checking ot some names. (i like the work of Hans Zimmer
(many movies, like batman, interstellar) and the work of Pedro Camacho (star citizen)MacLeod reminds me of 80's sound... little bit longwinded (matter of opinion)
Hope on Black Wings ... i mostly skip (pro, twitch and youtube) game movies when they have this music added. Lucky for us all we all have different tastes -

RE: Lore Locations and a Map (on world anvil) by Dordolio
@Vortech I can, but its currently a manual job. There is an API to do stuff, but i am not there yet. I mostly want to use it to write some stories, about Dordolio's adventures. (or tales he hears in his town etc.) I also will write there my findings on town building.
as for additional info, it takes time and currently also involved in writing in a contest on the worldanvil. (https://www.worldanvil.com/w/cafe-noir-akimotos/a/my-status-on-wa-wsc2020-article to keep check on the status. A total of 40 articles to write.) The city building has a higher prior, but i sit;ll want to try to finish as much articles as possible -

RE: Virus found in game installation file?
@MadDogTannen good questions deserve good answers, especially when it is about security.
So what i guess happened here:
You download it, it's unsigned and therefore some virusscanners just say its unsafe. It's not that the file is unsafe (your -based-on-signature-files-to-match-anti-virusscanner is just not smart enough to know the difference (unlike heimdal or sentinelone ) and its easy to say "unsafe"What singing does: it does make sure that the file is not altered during transfer (or altered during store or download or on your computer after download.
sadly, anyone can sign a file, so... signing alone is not enough.A signature alone It still doesn't guarantee its safe, for that an extra step is needed, when a developer like Dynamight Studios use a valid key, then a developer can sign the software that they made and you can validate against a source you trust to see if the file is actually the file that Dynamight Studios Srl has created. As soon as something is altered, the key won't validate (against the dynamight key) and then the file is considered malicious.
signing software can be done by anybody, so also by hackers. (its really simple if you have a GIT account or when you use PowerShell. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.security/set-authenticodesignature?view=powershell-7
This whole principle is based on trusted parties. We trust the bank, but only because the bank has federal stuff. We trust microsoft (yeah i know) and because of that, we have a bunch of trusted certificates already built-in in our windows computers. (microsoft has a very good understanding of security, is unlike AWS -and now the flamewar starts- standing up for customers rights (they have a huge amount of lawyers to prevent abuse -easy access by the government etc.)
There is much more of that, and there are literal hundreds of books about security and it would be out-of-place to write about it here.)
Still. i think this might give you some insight into what it actually means, why it happens and what you could do about/with it. (ask yourself: why trust a certain brand of antivirus?)
have fun! -

RE: Adding Fast Travel Planet to Planet... Your Opinion Matters!
@Bumblepudding said in Adding Fast Travel Planet to Planet... Your Opinion Matters!:
I'm new here, but my experience with MMOs is that too much fast travel tends to ruin immersion. I'd make it limited and relatively special.
i think that "too much" is not a real problem here.i think that the gate is fast travel, the travel to the gate is not.
so jumping three times up and down... be my guest. to do something you still need to walk there. -
RE: What is your biggest want in this game?
@Znick said in What is your biggest want in this game?:
I'd really like a key, lol. I spent almost $300 on Crowfall in... 2016... and the game isn't out yet. (and what I've played I've disliked) So I told myself I'd never pre-pay for a game again.
So I'd like a key, lol. It'd only take an hour and I'd know if I should pull out me cc.
Z
Ah crowfall... been there ... 1600 dollar... was lucky to sell that officially to Ashen Shan and invest that in the great No-Game of Noone CoE.... from one yuk into another dud...
btw. If i had a key i would give you one.
