Farming (crops)

im wondering on how the farming or herding system will work, it would be nice to know.
i mean will there be a system of draining of the soil, if you grow to much will the soil degrade. ieg the need for crop rotation
and will there be seasons of sorts?

@Meangroundhog seasons will be a thing, yes, and they'll impact agriculture on top of other areas of gameplay (such as travelling). In general, the whole weather / climate system is very important in Fractured - in the case of agriculture, it means some plants will only grow in specific planets, specific regions, and times of the year.
We'll have a feature spotlight dedicated to farming in the future, so stay tuned! :slight_smile:

How deep will the rabbit hole go? Like, does it also have soil exhaustion? When you grow the same crop in the same place over and over you will less harvest from the crops every time as there are not enough nutrients in the soil anymore. So we will have to do a crops rotation. (I would really love to see this in the game).

If you can have a harvest once a year ingame, that means I would have to attend my farm once a month in RL?

There will be a lot more to do on a farm probably. Like weeding, watering, pest control, seeding, plowing, cultivating etc.
Probably even multiple plots with different crops that can be harvested at different times. Crops that can be harvested in summer and winter crops etc.

@evolgrinz hope so, as long as they find a balance to not make it too tedious. Wondering if you can also plant trees to grow that will take long time to mature.

@prometheus cool

Are you guys going to make this the same as crops irl? If 4 hours is 1 day in game, then does that mean crops that take 2 months to grow will take 10 days irl time to grow (or is time the only variable that will be tweaked)? I'm assuming tropical crops will actually only grow in tropical areas etc.

I think that would be too much ^^

@finland why? If you could harvest fruits/nuts of it every year? If it could be shade for livestock? Plus an option to gain a huge ammount of wood at one point? Could make farming look much much more diverse in the game...

I don't think we are going to have problems finding trees around the meaning of camp farm are because many resouces will not be aviable in a different way

We'll definitely have plants in players' farms that take a while to mature (up to several days), but obviously we're going to take some liberties with times - we're not building a farming simulator here

Looking forward to reading more about this! Sounds cool!
