Give us Attribute Resets please

@Gothix Well, according to charts gnomes are like half human height but you are totally right about their proportions - they´re pretty scary. Like giant toddlers with huge ears 😄 😮

My point was that not all professions are suitable for all races - I can easily imagine bear as warrior, but it sure would be harder for him to use a bow. Would be just as silly as a gnome with mace three times his size.

Thats true, but all races, and species can be all things, so if you want to make a strength based species use Int, you could, it just would not be very efficient.

Sometimes a bear just wants to be a fireball slinging archer

  • @Xzoviac Actually bear-kin can reach natural 20 int 😛
But yes, and 2m tall guy with sumo wrestler body can try to be silent rogue, noone says he cannot. But truth is he will suck at it. However noone is forsing him to be anything. He has the choice.

pre stat distributions are a guidance to be a certain playstyle whether the person likes the aesthetics of it or not. the demons have 3 choices, the beast 5 and the humans 1 (i'm leaving gender out of it).

  • @asspirin
If you go for the most efficient build, you should match your most important attribute with your affinity. A bear-kin with 20int has considerably less points to spend on other stats than a bear-kin with 20con.

  • @Razvan not so much, bear can go 18 int (and upgrade it to 20 with talents) and still has 70 points left for rest... im not saying other attributes won´t suffer - therefore its min-maxing 😄 I looove the fact beastmen and demons are ultimate min maxers; for example bear kin can have str20/dex6/con20/int9/per20/cha6 with +2 per from talent perks and then just max his survivability. Having three natural 20s might be serious advantage, but has big flaws as well - one will never dodge anything nor resist mental abilities. Or just go human and dont excel in anything...but also dont suck like min-maxed character 😄 Min maxing this way is not always 100% win, only usable natural 20 attribute bonus for every class is perception, rest is situational (dex + str only melee; int mages only, cha is too random and con does nothing so far).

  • @Jetah "pre stat distributions are a guidance to be a certain playstyle whether the person likes the aesthetics of it or not"

Yes, they are, but you can still use everything and stats are not as gamebreaking as they might look, equipment and buffs will work wonders. Only thing you´re not getting is "natural 20".
To be warrior in fractured maybe doesn´t mean "to have 6 int, 2h weapon and plate armour". Why use clichés of old games, when you can use 400 abilities with no limitations.

One either go min-max route or roleplay. And if one wants to "cast spells in heavy armour just for looks" or "pick race only for its looks", it´s imo roleplay. And Im afraid there will always be at least 2 opinions - "I´m ok with it" and "I´m not", so lets agree we disagree 🙂

But we got away from original topic which was Attributes reset.

  • @asspirin If you minmax (which means you clearly know what your character is supposed to do), you should go for the subrace afinity as your main attribute. If I understood correctly, a bear-kin with 18int will indeed have 70points left for other stats, but one with 18con will have 89points left. Either way, the bear-kin seems best suited as a frontline character, so neglecting INT is a bad idea (besides, if you go for a heavy CC tank, INT should be your secondary attribute since it gives mdef and more CC in the skillbar).

  • @Razvan Concerning CC - imo bludgeoning weapons are CC specialised and abilities using them are also CC oriented (stunning and slowing attacks). But these dont need mana and are quite cheap memorywise. Only stat affecting these attacks are STRENGHT (lenght of stun) and CHARISMA (affecting all rolls, so also chance to CC target). I´d also mention PERCEPTION, but in this case abilities using maces "always hit" and crit chance doesn´t improve CC effect in any way. And however INT does increase WILL saves, so does CHARISMA in a way, it even affects all saves, but also damage of your hits (with damage 50-100, you have bigger chance to deal 100 damage) and even first supportive skill Inspire shows "supportive" nature of the attribute. So for tanks, for CC characters and especially CC tanks Charisma will sure have much bigger role than INT.

And devs stated that offensive spells can´t be casted in heavy armour, so my guess is you can´t cast not only direct damage spells, but also debuffs ( self buffs and self heals can still be casted in heavy armour if I remember correctly).

  • @asspirin I see, thank you for the explanation. I haven't bought the game yet and I can only speculate on the (often vague) resources I see online. Any idea what the psychic damage is?
PS: In the spotlight#5 it's mentioned that INT gives mdef and CHA gives psychic res, that's why I assumed they are different and the later is res to mage curses (sleep, silence etc).

  • @Razvan Game changed in time. It started with saves like in 2nd edition ADaD (spell, wand, death etc.) and was changed to ADaD 3,5+ (WILL depending on INT, FORTIFY depending on CONSTITUTION and EVADE depending on DEXTERITY - this one also lets you evade melee and ranged physical attacks, not only spells).

Not sure what "psychic damage" is, but might be resisted by WILL save...future will tell. For now CHA only gives LUCK (overall nice stat to have) and lets you be better "petmaster" - you can have more summons and tamed pets + you can also tame stronger ones with more CHA.

Check summary topics like this, and if not sure about something, make new topic (but first search to make sure there is none similar yet 😛 ).
