Int, is the most important crafting stat!

i can tell you that people will min-max and 'best builds' will develop and it's horrible game design to put crafting under 1 primary attribute. I dont need to play the game or even test it.
not to mention that spells will probably use int as an attribute too so that would mean the best crafters and ranged characters are ind based.. that's horrible design. I find it horrible that a 'mage' class could make the best plate armor because of the int attribute providing more.

strength- blacksmithing
Dex- jewelry/sowing
intelligence - alchemy
constitution- maybe affect foods craftedthat's all that comes to mind for now at the moment imo for maybe how the system should work
-
it could be 4 stats, something most games dont do.
although, i'd like to see a system where stats dont matter and it's just materials. then stats could dictate material cost but then it's right back to min-max stats to lower the cost.
i'm really liking my idea of attributes increasing over time. it prevents front loading the character and it make playing long term viable.

Most certainly, but that's inevitable regardless on how you design a game.

And that is where I'd dare to disagree. Crafting is 'just' one aspect, so, if let's say constitution provides enough of an health/survive-chance in combat, plenty of people would flock to that regardless of the crafting bonus int provides.
Don't get me wrong, I am not much in favor of the current system, but I'm willing to provide faith in the developers and test what they have in mind before flat out condemning something.

Consider also that since this is full loot game, many players will not even bother crafting. They will just steal stuff, and store it.
They will maybe only do crafting as last resource if they are left completely naked and cash-less.

I don't know why this issue is coming up with concern of how crafters are going to compare in combat to noncrafters. Each account is going to have more character slots. I've never played a game where I tried to min/max my crafter for combat. That is why I have another character slot...for combat characters. Are people hoping to do everything on one character?
If int is the only crafting stat then make the character a spell casting combat character. I'm sure we are going to see cookie cutter characters all throughout the game once the best builds become known.

they always hope for it.
i'd prefer there be actual crafting characters but i know that wont happen.

Do far, doesn't seem like stats have any impact on crafting. Maybe some recepies are stat dependent, but so far no difference in crafting between fully physical stats character and fully mental stats character.
-
I certainly havent noticed any difference between my 2 characters

@deusex2
i doubt this early in alpha they'd have stats effecting crafting.
-
Well I sure hope they'll keep it that way into release date!

it's terrible game design if they do.

I would actually be more interested in crafting being dependent on player skill as opposed to stats - either in the way you find the correct ingredients or in how you assemble them. I think that's what the philosophy is with having static stats so that anybody can jump in and you're able to play based on your skill level as a player, not based on how long you've been accumulating upgrade through playtime.

I'm all for this as well.

In the Q&A Crafting & Building this subject was mentioned (time stamp 29:58) Stat is related/will influence crafting, few examples were given:
STR will influence Metalworking, PER & DEX will influence Jewelcrafting, DEX will influence Crafting with claws.
So INT will not be the only stat, the question remains how the relation/influence will be in detail.
