Bought the Governor pack

I don't know about incentives, but if you want to stay being governor, this is the most ironclad route I know of:
- Be a governor of a town on Arboreus (can't be conquered)
- Be your own guildmaster (can't be kicked out)
- Be a guild town (can't be voted out)
At that point, I think the only ways you can lose the town are idleness and lack of citizens (I believe that will degrade the town over time to a ruin that can be claimed).

@Roccandil I couldn't find info (might not be info) about towns other then the wiki any good place to check out?
-
I'd check the news articles. This one has the most, I think:

Thank you for your last post with the link. I just purchased the governor pack today and it helped sort out some of my own questions!
-
Enjoy yourself!

Which evidently means I get to name and claim a town. I don't really know what that means yet, but I'm leaning towards Syndesia as the location.
Perhaps with experience in Alpha/Beta I'll change my mind, but I do like PvP, just not the aggressive, griefing kind (I tend to the carebear, I suspect). I prefer bigger, realistic, kingdom-style, long-term PvP, and Syndesia seems like the best fit.
Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself here. If anyone's interested, let me know!
...Isn't that the name of the human planet, as a whole?
-
@Specter So when you say they will generate new lands, does that mean that the world does not wrap around on the map? Are the borders hard edges meaning a brick wall? If so that makes for expansions quite easy but over time will making travel very long from one side to the other lol.
-
I suspect new land would be an entire continent bordered by water.
-
Ya. I meant I might select a town location there, although now I've settled on choosing a spot on Arboreus. Still want to have a toon or two on Syndesia.
-
@Farlander I don't have a definite answer but I assume they'll generate new continents if necessary.

My bad, I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted to name your town Syndesia
So I thought that was a bit weird. Totally misunderstood you there, sorry once again, lol.

We shall have a town of Syndesia on Arboreus and a town of Arboreus on Syndesia!!
-
@Specter So does that mean we have some kind of transportation like ships, either air or sea? I only saw stuff on mounts. Or is it all going to be by gating?

Haha! I'll laugh my arse off when I'll see Tartaros City on Arboreus!
-
@Farlander I think there will bridges between the continents, and sometime after release we might get ships ( for water transport, water battles... )
-
At any time in Fractured, free spaces can be claimed to build new towns, or ruined towns can be cleared of NPC enemies and then claimed and rebuilt. In addition, on Syndesia or Tartaros, towns can be taken from you by other players.
However, with the Governor pledge pack:
- You will begin the game with a town.
- You will permanently name the town. This name cannot be changed regardless of how the town changes hands.
- A statue of you will permanently decorate the town. This statue will remain regardless of how the town changes hands.
You will not be protected from ever losing your town, but these unique boons mean you will always be known as the first one who had it.
-
@Farlander Still waiting for an answer from Prometheus. Whatever we will use for transportation, I'm pretty certain it will be instant and with a loading screen. You won't be able to jump on a ship and sail it to a different continent yourself.
-
@Farlander I have an answer from Prometheus now:
The initial idea was for planets to be open worlds - so you'd walk on bridges without loading screens However, there may be technical limitations to that, so it may be that you'll have to reach a dock or a bridge and get teleported to the other continent. That won't be a way to fast travel anyway - you leave from one point of continent A and end up on a point of continent B, can't choose where to go.
-
Very cool! Any idea how many such dock connections there will be per continent? Will each continent be able to reach every other continent on the planet, or will you need to hop?
It does seem odd that you can't select a destination (ships can generally go to multiple ports), but I get the balance requirements.
