Completionist Titles

I don't want to stop your fun but as far as I know there will be no ingame achievement system. Does not work with what the devs have in mind for this game.
Prometheus said in Achievement system.:
@Vengu as @chrightt pointed out, the Knowledge System already covers the role of an achievement system in a way. We might implement a few proper Steam Achievements if we end up distributing through Steam as well - but it's definitely not a priority right now.
-
@LilCassiopeia But we were now talking about titles, which can be a little bit different than achievements. Unlocking titles can actually be bound with knowledge system.
-
you dont need achievements to have unlockable cosmetics, like titles.
-
Ok I phrase it different you gain a title by completing a target. The target is in a way an achievement. For me its a small borderline to ingame dungeon achievements. Once you start it this way people will demand that as well.
Titles are already distributed with the pledges so for the launch I don't believe they will put in much more titles.
-
the conditions can be different for each other if they wanted to without an actual achievement. someone could kill x mobs for a title and others it might be x*1.3 while others it might be y. the only note we, as players, could have is 'you need to kill this specific mob'.
but i can see them adding achievements, so long as it isn't for many small things but bigger things, i'm ok with out. i hate when wow has achievements for reaching level 10 then level 20, those aren't achievements to me, as it's just a part of the game. the 'what a long strange trip it's been' is an achievement!

People can "demand" many things... it doesn't mean they will get them.

However, I guess a lot of people perceives achievements like in WoW. I do not personally have anything against that kind of system either, but DS could create some really meaningful achievements without things like Jetah mentioned, or killing critters and other lame stuff like that. Actully I would like to see achievements more like trophies which are actual cosmetic/vanity items what you can place in your house/estate as decoration.
Back to titles then... Titles could be combined with knowledge system which will be there anyway so it does not cause that much extra work. When you unlock something rare, hard to accomplish and meaningful, then maybe you could get a title also as reward. Or maybe when you have unclock X% of the whole knowledge tree it could give you something nice, like Tuoni the "knowledgeable", Tuoni the "wise" or something like that.
People love titles, okay not all of them, but a good amount of people does. They want to sound cool, they want to show others their status and they like a little goals like these. So Why not? If this can be implemented with small effort, I do not see any downsides.

killing enough of a certain mob to get a title, such as 1000 chickens and you get Chicken kicker

Lick 1000 frogs and you get the title: "Prince Hunter" or "Princess Hunter"

Good example what there should not be.
Killing lets say 50 dragons and you get a title of Dragonslayer is a different thing already.

Rather have chicken kicker then dragonslayer

Guys 1000 is way low number...unless you are asking consecutive kill of 1000 without dying to anything in between and perhaps limited by time.
Numbersfor such achievementshould be 100000+ if you don't want everyone to have them inside few days.

Why is 100000 not a random number?

I think you guys are getting more and more away from the core of this topic.
-
it was randomly selected!
