Role play?

I hope for the Fractured world, that the Dev-Team appreciate Roleplayers same as they will do with PVEer and PVPer.

They do, I'm sure. Consider that DS took many things from D&D for the design of Fractured. D&D is RP so somehow they allow and want see also role players around. Don't forget that RP can be: RPPvP, RPPvE and RPSocial. Nowadays many may look at as a boring activity but interpret a characer, identify oneself is something that requies fantasy/immagination. Young players may find it boring and prefers easy peasy pew pew. Will see, cause I really hope o meet many rpers around Elysium lands.

@Finland Yes, that was one of the reasons i got notice of Fractured, when i searched again for MMO, Sandbox, RP 😉

And yes, the young people and their easy peasy pewpew. But it is not just a phenomen of young ones, even old ones can be sometimes so annoying in their playing attitudes 😄
Also, many people don't understand, that Roleplay don't mean you just sit on a bonfire and talk about nice things.
Roleplayer can be all they want, and they will be all a game want if a game wants them.
They will be better PVEers, they will be most cruel PVPers, they will be Mentors and Social Officers... well, i know, it's watched through a pink goggle 😄
Roleplayer can be annoying as hell, if they are roleplayer who claim the one and only true RP.
But also Roleplayer are the most loyal player, if they get a cool environment.

@kellewic They are. But the world does not make it easy for them. In fact, a chaotic evil should be greeted with hostility even by those of his own alignment. That's why there are very few serial killers IRL. And even fewer who last long enough to have an impact. The problem with most open world PVP games is that there is no real punishment from being a pk-er. The world does not react to you ant you don't stand to loose pretty much, anything. Unlike your victims. It's incredibly bad for business as well, but that's a story for another time!

@deity Most honored! Thank you! I'm looking forward to it as well!

I think I fall into a mostly RPPvE type camp. I've personally never been able to get much into RPsocial, but I really agree with the OP that it is an important consideration.

@darian well they could implement something like a police. Npcs guardsmen patroling the cities and roads of Syndesia and Arboreus. When in a close proximity to a pker (flagged as assassin or thief) they will try to capture him. If successfull the npcs will escort him to the closest prison (penality should be a time stop, 1 day in game time equal to 2h IRL, till be released). As I said in another thread npc should interact with players so the alignment could make difference :p.

    I prefer neutral evil.

Evil, from the aspect of fighting for your own progress, and not letting your competition get in the way. No problem with stealing and killing to get yourself ahead.

Neutral, since I prefer to use a brain and tactics rather then just go on chaotic murder spree. Know when it's opportune to get yourself involved, and chose targets that are worth for you to kill or steal from (no point in just killing random people). Also use guild, and alliances for tactical advantage when large fights are needed (land control).

Agree. Chaotic Evil beings would be loners since they are all about themselves and would not take direction very well - that already puts them at a disadvantage in a hostile world. Getting them to work together isn't impossible - promises of chaos and destruction, valuable items, etc. They would likely make good shock troops. But any relation with them would be tenuous at best.

yup. I'd even go as far as use prisoners for "forced labor", So you don't really get banned in the game, but you're put into a prison mine or smth. where you'll have to work your way out, either by escaping, rally difficult to pull off and would double your sentence if you get caught, or by gathering resources to buy your freedom.

I think any character in a game like this requires a bit of role play.
It's part of the reason to play games like this to immerse yourself into a different world where other races or magic can exist. Not everyone will want to do a deep role play changing speech or such but I think all have to role play a bit.

I'd like to see characters develop over the course of the game play as well. It's fine to create a back story for your character but the experiences in game should also affect the development.
