Is joining a militia basically “opt in” to pvp in the latest alpha?
-
Title says it
-
The simply answer is yes, but I saw no pvp in my time on the last test.
-
You are only able to "join" or "leave" a militia from within a city. Once you have "joined" or "left" a militia you may not do so again unless you are within a city. If you are part of a militia, you are able to PvP people who are in the other 3 militias.
They will have this form of PvP until they open up the other planets and are able to make the regular PvP types as planned.
-
Great response thanks. So in the future, militias will still exist as a form of ladder system, but your “vulnerability to attack” will be merely a function of the rule sets of the planet?
-
Once the real PvP system is put in place, the militia system will be removed. At that point, Tataros will be pure PvP, Syndesia will be Crime and Punishment PvP, and Arboreus will be partial PvP in very specific areas.
-
@Ostaff The militia system is a permanent addition to the game.
Militias aren’t a temporary amusement. Once the criminal system is implemented, being part of a militia will allow players to fight against other militia members, bypassing alignment and karma rules.

Oh.... so you have changed it then!!!! Ok. GREAT TO KNOW! Thanks!
-
@Specter Wait what is this malitia system?
-
Oh cool. Sounds a bit like the order/chaos factions in UO.
-
@Ostaff It wasn't changed. It was always meant to be a permanent addition.
@TrueCrimsonFTW It's explained in the old newspost.
-
(scratches his head)
Alright, now you are going to make me have to go back through the threads/discord messages to where you had originally told me that militias were only temporary to cover the PvP aspects that you all had not had time to implement.
-
@Ostaff as far as i remember that was only related to the first militia test (that militia is only the temporary pvp system)
-
Yes, the message I remember would have been in references to the first time they implemented the Militia. I had just never heard that they had changed it to be permanent. Not complaining, just took me by surprise is all, cause I had originally thought it was going to be permanent before being told that it wasn't in the begginning.
