The only reason I pre-ordered was because they dropped unrestricted open-world PvP. So, while they may have lost some players, they gained some as well (and I suspect they gained more than they lost).
I would have pre-ordered even with the OWPvP, but the change in the direction definitely made me happy, because I prefer consensual PvP over Unrestricted.
I am also fine with both decisions but I cannot say which direction I prefer more. I do not have a favourite PvP (or PvE) ruleset and I have always examined how the rules suits with that specific game. I am very open minded what it comes to the games and I am excited to wait and see how the new direction in New World works out.

The just delayed it until at least August
Unfortunately yes. Here is the announcement:
The global situation because of Covid-19 is really bad and in U.S.A. the situation is worst of all. Over 450K confirmed infections at the moment and it is getting worse every day, who knows how long this trend continues. So this announcement did not come as surprise even it is unforunate news.
This makes me wonder, what about the beta?Beta starts during july.
-
Hmmm... think not me!
-
I was looking at the store page then checked it later and it had changed from May to August.
If it wasn't Amazon I'd be really wary. It's the sort of game I 'd expect to normally sell at full price then drop to a low price or go free-to-play within a year. But Amazon might make a big difference in this case and it could become like Guild Wars.

Hopefully they invite me to closed beta!
I guess that is not what you need to hope for, you already have a secured access.
Pre-order now for bonus content: "Closed Beta access. Secure access to the Closed Beta in July 2020."
-
Looks good I will be removing my pants to check this out
-
This looked promising until they removed open world PVP.
-
if it dont have tartaros it dont have me

"We are unlikely to provide PVP-only servers as it would divide our development resources and community, We could investigate this again at a later date but it’s not something we are going to support at launch."
No Tartaros for launch but perhaps later...
-
@Tuoni even if it does one day i doubt i would be able to invade the worlds of order
-
@NeroulGB Yeah you are right that the starting point for PvP would be much more fair in PvP servers which is actually a good thing.
-
Need to see some gameplay before i will get to invested ind it

Same for me, i honestly don't know what to think about the game right now...i'll have to find myself once i get access

@Creepshow I am keen to see how those faction specific PvE and PvP missions will work out. It sounds interesting how you can work for your chosen faction and also that way have influence to the territory. In addition, those settlement tasks sounds great as well, completing those you can help to progress the profession stations towards higher levels and that way unlock access to craft better items.
-
I would be keen to try it but I'm not really willing to invest some $$ until I see it properly. I'd definitely be willing to try it though.
-
Seems a grindy game, i like more casual isometric games. Dwarf fortres!!! ever

There will be a beta test on july so if the NDA is dropped then we will get much more information of the final product. In addition, there is a possibility to get free access to open beta, so you can sign up there from their website.
EDIT: However, I am not sure how many will acctually win the key.

I’m waiting until it actually releases before this honey badger gives a flip. Pre-order for what reason? Not like it’s an indie dev.

Some people wants to test out the mechanics before the launch so they will be better prepared, but anyway, I will also wait and see how the beta looks like and after that I will made my final decision of the purchase. I guess I can do some kind of starting plan based on the available information and reviews.

@Tuoni I don’t think they have anymore betas lined up because the launch was delayed. I could be wrong, but I haven’t seen anything saying otherwise.
