Future armor ideas

  • TF#12 - PEOPLE'S HERALD

I have no clear idea what it should be, but I am hoping it will not be:

    • Futuristic (star wars stormtroopers for example)
    • Unrealistic (see also this article)

And it would be really nice if (in time) you would be able to transfer your favourite template onto other armour

  • Concerning armour: i hope for at least little bit of realism (0% WoW, 5% Diablo III, 40% GRIM DAWN, 55% DIABLO II). But as long we can transmute same type of armour and weapons to another skin, everything goes.

Concerning weapons: same - please, make weapons at least little bit historically accurate - at least for human race, demons and beast will sure have stronger muscles, but human with 5 kg- 10kg weighting 1h sword is silly 😄

@asspirin Aye. Giant weapons are usually countered as "We want you to see the art though!" Balancing that with realism is going to likely take more of a full scale first person effort, but given the lack of zoom in details for most isometric games... it seems likely that we could get more realistic models.

  • TF#5 - LEGATE

Yes! Really looking for realistic armors and weapons, seem i can find it only in Dark Souls 3 and with basic skin in most game (in guild wars 2 i'm almost only using low rarity craft weapons because they look realistic and everything else... well not so much quite hard when you can rename this game Skin Wars 2 ^^" ).

I hope fractured will give me some more reason to be so hyped for it ^^

They will also have steam power steampunk gear so a steam hydraulic style arm to help humans use bigger weapons is not out the question

  • @Xzoviac Yes and also magic, there´s certainly a lot reasons why they would be able to wield massive weapons, but please don´t make it World of Warcraft or typical asian mmo, where you wield hammer double your weight.

1h sword weights like 1,2kg, 2h sword cca 3kgs, in most games however you see a huge rail you would need hydraulic exoskeleton to even wield ... and im not mentioning blunt weapons and axes with size of wrecking ball. So far most weapons in short videos by devs seem realistic, let´s keep it this way ❤

    @asspirin

weapon size is only limited by the human wielding it. stronger humans can use heavier weapons. demons and beastkin should be able to use heavier weapons than humans!

  • @Jetah yes, read the post above my post 😛 But weight of weapon will only help you to certain point, then it´s just slowing you down. Also the longer you fight, the more you´re exhausted. Even 1h axe (1kg) wears you down in longer fight, don´t forget you have 6kg shield, 15-25kg armour and 5kg helmet. Trust me, lighter weapon is the way to go.

  • TF#12 - PEOPLE'S HERALD

@asspirin hmmm would I rather hit something with a Poleaxe (heavy 2h weapon) or a Dagger (light1h weapon)? hmmmm...

  • @Gibbx We were talking about Poleaxes weighting 4kgs vs full fantasy/manga huge 20kg + poleaxes 🙂

And in shield line formation body on body fight sax/big knife is much more usable than big weapons 😛 In fantasy world in 1v1 fight you´re probably right, but it also depends:

assassin: hmmm would I rather hit something with a Poleaxe (heavy 2h weapon) or a Dagger (light1h weapon)?
    hmmmm...
2h weapons specialist in heavy plate: hmmm would I rather hit something with a Poleaxe (heavy 2h weapon) or a Dagger (light1h weapon)? hmmmm...

that's why you train with said heavy weapon or a heavier one (although that could mess you up). you have to gain the endurance! I'd say heavy weapons are meant to be a 1 hit mechanic but you have to know when to back off and let another fighter take over for a specific enemy.

  • @Jetah The guys i know who train italian sword fencing actually use lighter weapons for training - techniques are easier to do. And my group train with regular battle weapons (or older weapons, but regular weight), you gain strenght by working out and endurance by jogging, with weapons you train techniques 😉

In fractured i´d say 2h weapons will have 2x dmg of fast weapons, because they´re on 50% of their speed and devs stated their dps is same. And i also hope nothing can one shot you in the game 🙏

i asked about TTK (time to kill) and it wont be 1 shots. https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/1886/expectation-on-ttk/4
now that could have changed but i doubt so.
