    • RE: Who needs a key?

Ok. Who do I send money? j/k. Kinda.

Er... yes, i would LOVE a key!

Please put my hat in the ring. I'm old (59 but plan to live to see 100!) but PROMISE if you hook me up, to hook up someone else with one in a game in the future! That's nice, eh?

Did you say "be creative?". I thought I heard you say be creative!

      Here ya go then!

Since Charlie Daniels just died... I'd sing it but well. Um. No.

*The devil went down to Fractured, he was looking for a key to steal,
he was in a bind, a few dollars behind, and looking to make a deal...

When he came across this young man, with an extra key he had got,
and he jumped up on a laptop, and said "boy lemme tell you what...

I guess you didn't know it but I'm an MMO player too,
and if you care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you...

You play a pretty good game boy, but give the devil his due,
I'll bet a mouse of gold, against that code, cause I think I'm better than you"...

The boy said "my name's Recoil, and it might be a sin,
but I'll take your bet, you're gonna regret, you just aint gettin' that pin"...

Recoil, take some days off work and play your Alpha hard,
'Cause Hell's broke loose in Fractured and the Devil deals the cards,
And if you win you get this shiny mouse that's made of gold,
But if you lose the devil gets your coooode....

The Devil, he logged in the first and said, "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he parried to and fro...

And he pulled his sword from its shaft and it made an evil hiss,
And a band of demons joined in and it sounded something like this...

When the Devil finished, Recoil said, "Well, you're pretty good ol' son
But sit down in that chair right there and let me show you how it's done."...

The Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat
And he laid that golden mouse on the ground at Recoil's feet...

Recoil said, "Devil, just come on back if you ever wanna try that trick,
I done told you once--you son of a bitch-- the key is going to Znick".*

    • RE: Not enough slots

@Wika I totally agree. It's great to HAVE 40 skills but we should only be allowed to USE 6-8 at a time. (and maybe 4 more for utilities) This makes the game MUCH more strategic.

If you can slot 20 skills then everyone has the same 12-15 "main" skills, the meta is born, and we're all the same. We can all tank, cast, melee, heal, cc, etc..

Limiting the skills to 6 or so makes you choose smartly, and decide what kind of character you are. You can't "do everything"... you are forced to choose to be a support character, tank, caster, off-healer etc.. It makes group creation VERY interesting and strategic too.

I don't like MMOS where everyone can learn everything, do everything, be everything. I prefer to have to choose or reroll. Heck, I'd prefer to have something like 160 skills broken into 8 sets of 20, and when you start you choose 3 sets and that's it.

I hope when they add crafting trees you can only pick 1 or 2 as well.

    • RE: Common misconceptions of "Alpha Testers", and expectations?

      To play devil's advocate...

A lot of great points... and had it been 2008 when to be in an Alpha/Beta you had to fill out a 20 question form and then were hand-picked by the devs based on age, your machine, hours you can put in, genre familiarity, past games played, etc., I would have agreed with every point.

Oh, and it was free to test as well, so it was special, and a privilege... testers took pride in sending in bug reports and such.

I mean, I don't disagree, the OPs points were spot-on. However, when someone has put down $100-$500 to "test" the game, they have more of a right right to voice opinions as well as test "what they want to test". They weren't chosen based on abilities and specs... they invested.

They've paid a lot more than the post-release player will, and they feel that gives them those rights.

In a genre where so many of us have put hundreds of $$s down on games that have never released, it's tough to argue that people don't have more flexibility than they used to... since we're chosen by pulling out a credit card, instead of by our pedigree.

@Razvan I read that it affects your rolls... so more likely to evade or block, hit for more damage etc..

@lopekz7 That's really special... especially being so far apart. I would do anything to get my wife involved in gaming.

I've tried since 1997 in Ultima Online, no luck. 🐖

    • RE: When the Mod sides with trolls...

I see no reason not to recruit in-game if it's only done every 15-20 minutes or so... when people pile on yelling "stop recruiting, stop recruiting" is when it becomes a flame-fest. (and because of Discord and such, a lot of people never check forums)

The devs need to put in an "ignore" button, and problem solved... of course, there are 1,000 different things that we all think they "need to do", in varying priorities. It's early, it'll happen in time.

The bigger problem, as indicated by the mod's comment, is there are so few people in game. So there's nobody here to push the chat along, and very few looking for a guild anyway. I've probably put in 25 hours and have never seen more than 3 people in one place... THAT is much more serious of an issue.

What we really need to do, is police ourselves and not act like dicks to each other, ESPECIALLY since there are so few people playing!

Everyone has different priorities for this short testing period... we can't be so critical.

@Silynx Yeah you're right... I thought I saw them but was wrong. I play a mage but took a cpl of melee skills by mistake then I was new, lol.

@KKillroyV2 I agree with that, the person recruiting should not post if his prior post is still there... but I still feel it should be allowed if they don't do it like a knucklehead.

There's also some good conversation in chat. Last night we talked about a lot of things... new ideas, helping people, etc.. Since there's nobody in discord and no guild or anything for the town I ended up near, I'm already bored. World chat helps.

I don't see it this way... first, how are you dying so much? I got knocked out a few times, but I NEVER group and have never died.

If you do, grab some more gear that you made (you make and enchant 4-5 sets at a time and put it in your house/bank) and run back... forget your body unless there's some uber rare on it. Why bother, no gear is that good.

FInally... I picked exactly the enchants I wanted, there was nothing random.

      Am I wrong??

    • RE: Player Professions and possible implementation idea

I would agree with something like this. I HATE that everyone can do everything in an MMO and wish that we were limited in points to be able to get around 33% of the skills and that's it. So we need to decide and build smarter.

It makes jobs important and choices matter.

    • RE: Solo playing became extremely difficult.

I've been able to do 98% of everything I've come across solo so far, but I've only played these 4-5 days...

Having said that, I really think the end-game will... or HAS... to be so different than what we see here that it almost makes it impossible to discuss, assuming we're only seeing around 15% or so of the final game.

      Correct?

@Amuck I expected more as well... I really hope they have a lot, LOT more done and under wraps ready to be tested. Considering what three years in, if this is truly where we're at it's going to take 10 more.

I have no reason NOT to think they have a lot more ready... just hope so.
