@gothix so you think all players should be forced to do PvE if they want more then 1 character? Players that just want to do PvP shouldn't be forced to do PvE. Same as players that want PvE shouldn't be forced to do PvP (while PvE players can be attacked they shouldn't have to look for victims to attack to progress in the game).

then you have the people that pick fire and have to fight a fire immune boss. the qq will be loud on the forums.
Since you can select and change your skills any time you rest, I'm sorry, I'd feel very little pity for that kind of fools.
You assume people will have all abilities. When I venture out I donβt want to see 100% immune mobs. I played against that in D3 and it sucked.
In diablo the immunity is random and isn't connected to mob type. If you were going to go to a graveyard knowing that there are ghosts immune to physical attacks you can prepare or not go there at all If they are rare but reasonable and obvious then it should be ok. I hope nobody is expecting to kill fire elemental with fireball.

RE: Switching Characters
If the power growth will make a substantial difference then multiple characters will automatically be harder to menage. If it can be ignored in the long run then multiple characters will be more valid.
Prometheus once said that the difference between r2 and r3 won't be too much but in other place he said that once guy should be able to kill 4... so we'll see

RE: πΌππππππ€ π¨ππ₯π ππππ¦πππ₯πͺπ
@chrightt, @Jetah I'm assuming that if they put creatures with physical immunity they will also include reasonable way to get a weapon/skill to fight them. And that's why it might be better to have immunity then resistance - they have to include a way for you to fight them.
And random immunity is a plague and nonsense Only reasonable and explainable immunity should be included IF ANY. If it's included it should be very rare.
It might be a fun quest for example to get your Warfare to max level you'd have to beat some physically immune creatures that are of course immune to your lesser Warfare and you have to figure out a way to fight them

@tulukaruk I understand that you prefer WASD. you can complain about it all you want.
I will at least till pre-alpha ends Mostly because till now the there weren't any reasonable arguments against it.
Many people are against removing mouse movement and making it WASD only - but that was never the case we argued for. Planty games have both without any problem.

No shit they will include weapons for you to kill it. What we are debating now is whether this fact justifies having immunity. What happens to the poor guy who doesn't have the weapon upgraded? Does he just farm his ass until he finds a weapon FOR a single stupid quest?
Why not? If there is 1% of quests that require getting special weapon or skill set why would that be a big problem? Especially if that weapon/skills help you with the rest of the game as well.

RE: Mouse / Keyboard control
@dcccxix ToS has no mouse control at all. We asked for controls like in Realm of the Mad God WASD for movement and mouse for targeting.

Btw, there are no quests in Fractured. https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/777/can-you-think-of-truly-immersive-and-meaningful-quests-in-the-fractured-world/13
Upgrading skills sounds a lot like quests
I know that what we usually mean by quests is a specific task given by NPC that we can track in journal - but getting a rare weapon or unusual ingredient for crafting can be considered quest as well. And of course if you don't want immunity at all you should say it out laud here - after all that's what we all are doing So the devs can decide what idea sounds best to them and their target audience! I hated immunities in diablo because they were random and not logical.

RE: πΌππππππ€ π¨ππ₯π ππππ¦πππ₯πͺπ
@chrightt they said they're fine with players not being able to reach all the content. Evil demons won't probably be able to reach max lvl in fireball. So some other players not being able to get something because of immunities should be fine as well.
About high resistance - in my book it's worse then immunity because it might make impossible to kill for you - damage output too low vs mob damage output and he simply kills you - and that's where "nerf qq" starts. Because the game tells you that you can kill everything with a single skill and then it turns out it's not really true. With immunity - reasonable immunity - you know that sometimes you have to do something else. I'll use @Jetah argument and say - worst case hire bodyguards
And about anime and mmo - it's not a good argument as they are usually nonsense unfortunately I'm pretty sure most mmo manga authors didn't play mmo at all.

@lshreve for not there is only mouse movement and no wasd at all. we're fighting that bad @Prometheus to test it at least but we're losing so far

@fibs said in Instanced Dungeons/Raids:
Someone pointed out that people can still camp at entrances or exits to instance dungeons in order to gank players. This can be solved by semi-instancing open fields too. Just randomly divide wandering players into one of several channels / instances
I pointed it out and from my understanding Fractured is 1 server 1 channel / instance. And that's one of the few unique features about it so I don't think they'll change it.

@target said in Mouse / Keyboard control:
Assuming you can move and use abilities at the same time, it would be an advantage because you can aim in one direction while moving in the opposite which isn't possible with mouse only movement.
You can do the same with your mouse, the difference is your angles are not limited that way.
That is, if you can actually use your mouse properly. That's 22.5 degree. I cannot see a situation where it matters.
And moving in different direction then attacking is possible with mouse movement but require very fast mouse moves - it's hard to keep precision that way - or linear movement.@target said in Mouse / Keyboard control:
Dodging is essential in any pvp. And of course WASD movement is possible but it will play out the same, since players will stand still while casting/shooting/etc., since game is planned as point-and-click based.
Of course how "actiony" combat is, is also tied to abilities' mechanics. But in short, having WASD movement in the game where you can't shoot/hit on the go is pointless, will handicap player instead of giving him comfortable experience, and is only a matter of preference.Combat is supposed to be very "actiony" So it won't handicap WASD player. What's more - all players would have the same control options so when it suits them then can just switch.

RE: Consider: Alternate Controls
@fibs the obvious flaw in mouse movement is that you either direct your skills or you direct your movement - unless your movement and attack is in the same direction you cannot do both at the same time. And we can see that in the gameplay video that the character stops to shoot bow.
I asked before and there wasn't any answer: what improvement in game play bring that up to 22.5% more control over your movement angle? I see none in combat.
And what pauses on movement and getting more tired on WASD? What's more isn't it better to have MORE options? So you can move with mouse and if your right hand get's tired move with WASD or w/e bind to the movement? You say it like you can have one or the other but why not have both???
-
RE: Consider: Alternate Controls
why anyone other then devs would be against adding WASD as a SECOND option for movement is beyond me. Can any of you explain?

@logain Prometheus did mention that a few people might not get a key, but he didn't give specific names. With that said, I don't see any troublemakers in the top 100 right now.
I'm kind of scared to post about WASD now....

RE: PSA: The Kickstarter has been postponed.
Not long ago when @Finland said it will start 1st June I wanted to write that it probably will be delayed cause it usually is with kickstarter but I stopped myself and thought "maybe this time..."
It's pretty normal from what I've seen - it's much better to make sure you're 100% ready then to falstart.
