RE: Discord Store 90/10 Starting 2019
@jahlon said in Discord Store 90/10 Starting 2019:
Not too hard to see the future here. Steam will have to lower its cut to 18-20% if they want to attract games
They already kinda did a couple weeks ago.
I'm worried about the direction these PC storefront platforms are heading with Epic paying for third party exclusives instead of trying to offer a better service than Steam. It's hard to take these other platforms seriously when they don't even have reviews, let alone the massive pile of features Steam already has.

RE: Heroes of the Storm has apparently entered a death spiral
This doesn't really suprise me. Blizzard is becoming more intertwined with Activision and seemingly more profit driven. Earlier in the year they held a company wide meeting and surprised employees with the announcement that one of their goals moving forward was cutting costs and saving money and putting more emphasis on showing growth. It explains their entry in mobile gaming; large amounts of money to be made for less costs.

RE: Environmental Combat
@tsoo said in Environmental Combat:
But I was just curious what other types of environmental combat will we see that do not involve water or ice?
Hopefully they take some inspiration from effects and interactions from Divinity Original Sin 2: webs, lava, smoke, oil, poison puddles and clouds that explode when exposed to fire, blood as a substitute for water (with players leaving blood puddles from damage), and holy/unholy elements that can be applied to any type of environmental element to alter their effects.

RE: Alpha 1 map
I believe it was said that open world PvP would be off at the beginning of alpha and arenas would be used to test PvP, but I can't find a source for the first claim so I may be mistaken. It's part of the human world though, so it will eventually be nearly free-for-all PvP with consequences (with the corresponding alignment restrictions).

RE: Some Questions
@xadros said in Some Questions:
Other than the planet differences (PvE, PvX, PvP and economy) are there any distinctions between the races? For example Demons are stronger by nature therefore better tanks/ fighters, Beastmen are faster and more agile therefore better archers and Humans are a balance between then 2?
The race spotlight has some of the differences between races, and the character creation spotlight shows the differences in possible attribute distribution when creating a character of different races.
Does the God you pray to matter (for example Elysium is part of the Greek mythology)? Do you get any kind of buffs or debuffs in the game at any given moment because of your religion?
You can pray to the god you worship for blessings and divine quests to alter your karma, but there hasn't been a lot of information about the gameplay effects of the religion system. There was mention that Babilis will put a beacon on worshipers of Talos if they stay on Tartaros too long, so it's assumed that the choice of which god you worship will be fairly significant.
Are all races given the same chance to acquire knowledge? From what I have seen Beastmen will have access to more plants, meaning botanology and other professions like that will be easier for them to learn that the Demons that will be more hunt-focused to get the fure, bones and so on.
Every race can acquire all knowledge (except for maybe demons for good only areas of Arboreus), but, as you point out, availability will differ for each race. For example, it's going to be much harder for good aligned beastmen to gain knowledge of certain parts of Tartaros than it would be for a demon, but it's still possible.

RE: A few Q's
Regarding the above, I'm guessing if you want a true crafter/builder, etc. you would really focus the stats on the corresponding attributes? IE, Intel, etc?
It depends on what you want to craft. Everyone will potentially have access to all recipes and crafting techniques but everything has an associated attribute requirement. For example, blacksmithing requires moderate strength, gem crafting requires perception and dexterity, etc. If you design your character to craft certain things, you won't necessarily be weaker in combat, but you'll have to adapt your skillset to complement your attributes.
In regards to housing, will there be secure storage within, sort of like a personal bank? (Pretty sure there will be limits as well?)
People can't enter your home without your permission and you'll have limited storage in them, but if you have a house in a city, the governor might decide to kick you out, in which case you have a small time frame to move your stuff out before it's taken by the city (or gets deleted?).
I've seen most of the videos from like June, are there any updated ones?
No. The closest we have are the content pills.
Will crafting have it's own set of skills associated with it, like magic/combat, etc?
I don't think so. Nothing like that has been mentioned by the devs.

RE: Access denied
Pretty sure that happens when a thread gets deleted.

RE: The Tides of PVP
@Eurav
We know that the guild member cap is determined by the amount of cities owned and is potentially limitless. Even if the guild member cap was hard and finite, you would still have groups creating multiple guilds and using alliances to hold all their members. To prevent that you'd have to somehow come up with incentives or deterrents strong enough to outweigh the benefit of having a huge alliance, which I've never seen done successfully.I haven't really seen anything that convinces me that huge alliances controlling everything on Syndesia and Tartaros isn't a possibility.

RE: curious on thoughts for game
@pluto Attributes are a specific subset of stats. Gear will likely have different stats, they just won't have attributes.

RE: curious on thoughts for game
I have high hopes for the skill system. Three versions of 400 skills + attributes + traits + race + equipment sounds like a theory crafting dream.

RE: Instance/Non-Instance
@jetah Asteroids aren't private.
Summary: They're temporary extra-planetary areas that are variable in just about all parameters but have a theme. They can last from a few hours to a week and can be a one off appearance or reoccur at intervals that vary from weeks to yearly. They can be accessed from planets that are considered "nearby" through "events, rituals, and fantasy procedures" and they offer alternative ways to get certain resources and guilds will likely compete over them. -
RE: Instance/Non-Instance
Asteroids are instanced in the sense that they're not part of the same play space as the other worlds, but they're not privately instanced which is usually the implication with "instanced."

RE: Instance/Non-Instance
@prometheus said in Dungeons & Guild info?:
Hi @CommissarVodka! Dungeons, like the rest of the world, are going to be accessible by any player at any time. There are going to be no "private instances" of any kind. I'd call it the "old school" way rather than the "recent mmos" way, although it's a fact the old school is coming back
There's also the labyrinth which I believe is instanced.
