RE: Getting Antsy!
@Prometheus I am excited to hear you got the funding! Take some deep breaths followed by cold beer, always makes me feel better. Just remember.... after several deep breaths and beers you might think you are better at posting on the internet. This is not true. It is best to give us updates before the relaxation exercises. Amazingly interesting stuff can be posted by "hackers" yeah.... thats what happened after I drank all those beers... hackers ... those bastages posted on my social media!

RE: Getting Antsy!
While I understand the why, I still peek around looking for clues, check the inbox a couple times... look in the spam folder for good measure... random treasures are sent to the abyss from time to time you know. Well wishes to the crew, take your time, get things done... we will just sit here with big round puppy dog eyes.

RE: Instanced Dungeons/Raids
There are good arguments for both sides, but to be honest instances kill the social interactions that open zones might force. Its those interactions that you will remember long after why you were there in the first place.

Instance dungeons are kinda cheating. I would say that only 10% of all dungeons should be instanced and that should only be the end boss. A fully populated dungeon makes people be social even if it isn't 100% advantageous it makes the game feel more alive. Killing a end boss should be a big thing, so killing a boss should only be allowed 1 time a week for each boss. Attempts should be limited as well, three attempts per week. Back when Everquest was going super strong I loved the extra excitement that random social encounters brought, and games like WoW lost that aspect 100% and it is sorely missed.
It's not cheating, and I don't get why you say so. Givin the chance to kill the whole dungeon to a small group is way better than an open dungeon cleared h24, with 300-500players running around trying to find 1-2 mobs or boss camper spwon trying to zerg it and steal eachother. Dungeons shoud be no attempt limited, Raids should be 1 clear per week. Instanced thing are good to avoid pvp while doing pve. You can fully focus on one thing.
If the game is set up in a good way then there will be plenty of dungeons or places of interest to hunt. If there is one place that has the best stuff and everyone ends up there then it becomes a social dilemma and one must use social skills to gain footing and come up with solutions. I never had trouble even when everyone seemed to be where I wanted to be. Honest to god social skills.

RE: Suggestion ingame pub
During my "research" I found that while playing "Lets take this girl home" at the bar, there were multiple paths that lead one to a brawl. You might insult, or be doing very well but find out she already has a date, or the girl next to her that heard your entire line is her date. Fight, Fight, fight. Its fun to win, sucks to lose and better to talk yourself out of it. Also the other game that is played latter ... the "I can drink more than you" game also has a high chance of getting into random fights, some even get to start with you on your knees puking your guts out on their date... or so I am told, that last shot of Aftershock is all I remember with any clarity. I keep checking to see if I am on the news.... so far so good. I gained some experience, raised my faction with "BarFlies" and only took minor damage. It was rather costly, catching a buzz was cheap, the drinks for the gals got pricey but the "I can drink more than you" game wrecked me. Its for science... its for game development.... Its for you guys!

RE: Suggestion ingame pub
For purpose of study I myself will be subjected to alcohol tonight. During this time I will attempt many different play mechanics to see what would be the most fun in the game. All of this in the name of game development. For you guys and gals, I do this for you. To the bar!!!

RE: Suggestion ingame pub
If they have Donkey Men I am going to name mine Tijuana, he will be a monk, and he will live in a bar.... where you can brawl with him.... Oh god... I would laugh all night.

RE: Suggestion ingame pub
@darian it only gets strange when you add in the beast men, I mean there is the whole "Furry" movement... but... well... I guess if a demon wants to stay up all night and howl at the moon... there is an option for that and if there is an option... some one has found a way to sell it to you.

RE: Suggestion ingame pub
Have we discussed strip clubs? I bet the quests you get there lead one to need remedy potions, but the exp is amazing.

RE: A Navy ?
There is always post release though. If you want it just pitch a good idea and get as many people to cheer it on. Never know, with enough interest it might happen. It might happen out of due course also, it would seem that with larger game worlds would come to such things.

RE: Suggestion ingame pub
Pubs with games of chance, fighting, questing, drinking with social and faction bonuses. In my opinion games without them are doing it wrong. If you wanted to know what was going on in the old old days you went to the local pubs. Loose lips and eager hips with local fermented beverages.... and if you were lucky some interesting plant based kickers included for even more fun. Count me in!

@mazikar I believe a playable and limited demo of sorts just for KS backers could be the best way to do it.
@Dagimir that isn't bad. just putting pre-alpha or alpha in a 75$ tier will do more harm than good.
To get a game to the state of playable demo might be the point of the kickstarter, I am not a fan of half baked demos as proof of concept. I fear that some people just don't bite because a demo might not be all that good and thats because features aren't all in. If you have most of the game done and playable to the point of having a great demo then what do you need a kickstarter for?

RE: Major Milestones Approaching! (Or: Why We've Been So Silent)
Awesome! I hope all goes well good sir @Prometheus . You have been kicking butt on these forums with questions and hints, I am sure everyone understands that you have a game to make and from time to time we will just have to wait. Looking forward to hearing AND seeing more soon! Cheers!

RE: Pre-Kickstarter Exclusives
I think its safe to say we would all like to see this game do the best it possibly can, would hate to see it rushed and not obtain what it deserves. The other killer out there is when another game is out on the market eating all the hype, I have seen several good looking games get passed up due to a completely different genre game eating all the attention. Nothing you can do about stuff like that, but if you got your stuff together it could be your game eating all the attention, and that is what I am hoping for with Fractured.

RE: π πΎππππππ ππ πππππ
It would be an interesting path for crafting. Scrolls should be coveted but not to the point that they are not used at all. I liked how EQ made spell casters make their scrolls to learn spells (vanilla EQ that is) as it made getting the spells special. It also made getting some signature spells like Ice Comet rare, needing materials from hard to kill and due to farming hard to find alive dragons (once a week spawn).

RE: Pre-Kickstarter Exclusives
Kickstarter is quite fickle. I have been supporting games for years. Early bird tiers tend to be the most valuable and bring the quickest returns, offer too much and see the early push die out absent goals, offer too little and see the same. The one thing that wins over the most people is just have a solid plan, have a couple stretch goals out in the open as a sign of confidence, and make no mistakes. Game play, polished animations, and good art for the win... all of that is already here so no troubles. I am more than curious to see what this game will have for offer!
