If I ever design a game, I've decided I'll do everything I can to balance it around the mechanic that player's toons are -always- skilling up, regardless of whether or not the players are actually on, and thus organically bypass the bot issue.
So you mean something like EVE-Online uses. Where you train skills even when you are not online?
Something like that would be nice.I peeked at EVE Online once, and decided it would take -way- too much dedication to play it. If they use that kind of system, though, that makes me happy, since EVE seems to be one of the most successful sandbox MMOs.
Yeah EVE-Online (aka spreadsheet simulator) takes a lot to play. I played it for 5 years total and after 2 years I was still learning new things about the game and mechanics. But the skill system is great especially when they introduced the ability to queue skills.

RE: Question about Paying for the Game
If you link your CC to PayPal, you technically pay with your CC when paying through PayPal and on top of that, you have an extra layer of security to keep your CC details safe.

RE: Are you a PVP or PVE player?
I'm sure I would like PvP a lot more if there wasn't so much toxicity and salt around it.

RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
The biggest problem is that a lot of bot preventing measures don't really work all that well, and are usually just annoying for the legitimate players.
-
RE: Any Alpha Testers
There are a few videos of the developers showing some gameplay of the game.
They should be in the news section. -

RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
Bots these days are pretty smart and sometimes hard to distinguish from a player. They even put delay and randomization in the movements to avoid easy detection by software.
So it's best to find another solution against bots than just have software try to detect them. -
RE: Leaderboard rank missing.
I have no problem seeing my rank in the leaderboard.

RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
There will always be people who want nice stuff, but don't work it and rather buy gold from a gold seller and buy what they want.
Can't stop that other than be ruthless and ban both the gold sellers and those who buy from the gold sellers.
But then it comes down how well the game is coded and if transactions like that can be monitored. -
RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
Maybe have a look at how EVE-online does it. It also has a player driven economy, yet bots are not a huge problem.
-
RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
The best way to prevent bots is to just not make it profitable to bot.
For instance, killing and farming in the same spot over and over in a certain timeframe will give diminishing returns. But you can never get rid of bots completely, there will always be those people who want the shinies while not doing anything for it.

RE: The Fractured Pre-Alpha Is Coming!
I see some people missing their foundation ranking, does that mean those are selected as a special 10? or just a glitch in the matrix?

@nozy Only those who were invited will be able to download the client.
checks torrents
With only 10 people getting an invite, I doubt you'll find the game on a torrent, because it would be pretty easy to pinpoint down who leaked the game and drag them to court.

RE: Community Call - YouTubers You Know
Rhykker, he mostly does Diablo and PoE, but I feel he would be able to do a good job on Fractured as well.

@00 A missed that part i guess. Thanks.

@Specter
@Prometheus
According the final list I should have gotten an invite, but I did not receive any mail. Also checked my junk folder and there is nothing.
Can I still expect the mail? -
RE: The Fractured Pre-Alpha Is Coming!
Don't think anyone got their mail yet, or are they silenced to not talk about getting an invite perhaps?
Anyway, don't give up hope just yet. -
RE: The Hype is building; can you feel it?
Alpha tests is a bug fest, so I assume pre-alpha to be even worse.
I am not hyped about many bugs, of which many could be game breaking and causing crashes etc.
But I am excited to see the game and to get to see it's potential.Don't know how many here been in alpha tests of games before, but it's important to not expect too much.
Alpha tests are a lot different compared to closed/open beta, with many features not there yet or even seeing placeholder models/textures.
So just be prepared for that and don't hype too hard or you might end up disappointed.
