You have to register, download the game and run it for at least 5 minutes to get it for free forever.
Wow, they're actually making sure you're going to play the game.
@specter Thanks for the informative - if somewhat ominous - clarification.

Can they do that? I read somewhere on the forum that they should not even say they had a key.
This thread is about alpha 1, not the pre-alpha. People are free to reveal they're in alpha 1.
@Dybuk, jednak rzeczywiście nie można nawet powiedzieć, że jest się w pre-alfie. Łał.

The focus on long and risky expeditions to accuire resources without fast travel also sets it appart for me.
Oh, yes, having to go on journeys adds a lot to the experience (provided that they are actual journeys, and not just walking for for way too many minutes without anything happening like in sooome games).

@zidroc
Not to derail it too much,
No, no, feel free to speak, I'm sure this will tie back to Fractured somehow.

[Star Citizen] no longer will release require 100 systems, [...]
Hold on, as in
It's a bit ambigious in space-opera-themed games.
@pluto said in curious on thoughts for game:
But once again, the only reason I'm not playing SC right now... is the fact that there isn't any permanent progression in the game.
It's kind of weird how progression matters so much to me
Aha! Fractured has horizontal progression, so having some sort of progression is important in an MMO even if power level always stays the same. I think that's an important observation.
(See? I told you it would tie back.)
@muker said in Humble Bundle/ Free Game:
What do you think, do you need to post information here with the games which are given a limited time: free weekend, a week and the like.
Spread or not?
(I would and it could spread here, but don't think it's a useful thing)
@muker said in Humble Bundle/ Free Game:
@oobenonioo I mean other projects that are distributed as " temporarily free"
I don't think posting these here is useful.
When somebody posts about a free game here, you end up getting a new, full game that you can play anytime in the future
if you see that post in time
and have 5 minutes to download the installer or tie the game to your store account.
When somebody posts about a free weekend here, you end up playing the first few hours of a game
if you see that post in time
and you see that post early enough to still have enough time to play it before the deadline
and you have enough time to download, install and play it
and your PC meets the minimum requirements at the current moment
and you feel like playing that specific game at that specific time.
Also, in more practical terms, the former is about getting a full game, while the latter is about getting a stressful demo a trial.
@keima said in Hello. New to the game.:
And hyped for the release to play it.
Welcome!
...
Can you mantain the hype for 3 years, or are you going to buy a pledge pack and join the beta?
It's really simple for me.
I require something very specific from an MMO to enjoy it.
Horizontal progression, achievement-based unlocks, area of strict PvE, almost one-toon-all-classes, challenge of ascending to Angelhood - all of these features are nice bonuses. But if that something very specific is not present, I literally won't enjoy the game. Believe me, I tried to do that with many MMOs.
Prometheus said Dynamight cares about that specific thing.
This means that out of all upcoming MMOs that I have on my list, it makes Fractured the second* most likely game to deliver lifelike enjoyable active aggressive mobs. And since Dynamight seems to have a very sane and solid development plan, this is also the most likely MMO to come out (unlike EverQuest Next) and to come out the way it was promised (unlike Firefall).
And that's why I'm sticking to it.
(Plus that at the moment I have very controlled budget and little time, so I can't really laborously sieve through other MMOs right now.)
* The first being Em-8ER, which is better because it's also a successor to Firefall's beta, and also worse because the head of the project, the (in)famous visionary behind Firefall's beta, silver-tongued Mark "a film studio and a bus" Kern is already showing some small red flags. And they might or might not be indicative of bigger issues.

i do like the minecraft system where you start with nothing and have to punch stuff to get materials then craft a tool to get more materials... etc.
Oh, yes, that was one of the things I really liked about Tibia.
Even if you had everything in your bank and item storage taken away, and were stripped naked, you still could go into sewers, punch some rats to death, buy the most basic weapon, and climb the equipment ladder with no problems at all.
(Not that you ever had any reason to do that, or the
"halp i was hacked all my items were stolen give gold gib itens pomuuuusz pls pls pls"
crowd cared, mind you.)
Compare that to, say, Maple Story or Guild Wars 2 where you can't even attack if you have no weapon, forcing you into some sort of technical pacifism and possibly awkward combat-by-abilities-only. Good luck with mana regeneration and/or cooldowns on that one, though.
(Not that you would ever loose your weapons in these games, mind you.)
Hi!

hey guys just built a new PC so I'm looking to get really back into gaming.
Yes, Fractured certainly is promising, but you are aware that the full release is scheduled on 2021, and standard-price pre-release access (ie. Beta) is going to happen in 2020, right?
Ah, good to see you active again.
...even though I haven't really noticed you being inactive. Whoops. ^_^' I just assumed you were posting in other parts of the forum.
But still, what little I know you, it's good to have you back.

Hold on, wouldn't "linear progression" mean "offering no choices whatsover"? Did you mis-type?
@lightspoon said in What sets Fractired apart from other MMORPG’s?:
[...] each chararcter will be ready to go right from the start.
That's a really good feature.
I wonder how much of this is going to be true - you still need to unlock skills, and I wonder how, er, battle-ready your fresh-off-the-oven character will be. Will you be able to choose a starting skillset during character creation? Or will everyone start as generic beat-stuff-with-a-stick fighter? Hm.
I mean, the news post says
The total number of tester will eventually be between 100 and 150 players.
and there's going to be an NDA on the pre-alpha, so I don't think most people answering this question have a reason to get ready for anything.
Hello!
@strikerhero said in Heya:
i'm looking forward into a game with pvp + grinding stuff
PvP - yep, there will be a lot of PvP if you play a Demon, and plenty of PvP if you play a Human.
Grinding - I don't think there will be a lot of grinding.
Hope that clears things up.

Whew, good thing I saw your post. Yep, download page says:
The redemption deadline is November 29th, 2018 at 10:00 AM Pacific. You have 0 days left!
Immediately after 10AM Pacific on November 29th, the download will magically vanish as if it were just a figment of your imagination, leaving this cryptic message behind in its wake.
claimed it, but I didn't download it. Whew, almost missed out on trying Outcast.

Would it not be good, if you share your thoughts to start a real discussion?
I think that's bait - OP is holding their opinion hostage to coax out opinions of others.
@Maldeth Anyway, the two things that separate Fractured the most - and are the reason I'm here - are:

I have a feeling I should elaborate somehow, but I'm not sure.
Welcome!
If anyone wanna give me some feedback
What kind of feedback? I made a thread this month about monster behaviour, and the CEO responded that it's important to them, so, um, I have high hopes for this game.
...
Anyway, here's something useful if you want to spend some time reading other than what @muker posted: A compilation of everything we know about Fractured. (I don't know what the use of me posting that link, since that thread is pinned in General discussions).
