@jairone yes the game was a disaster in the end... But I remember the first time sailing to other continent with trade good and the fear of being ganked and loosing, being out on the water with no horizon in sight. .... Was amazing!
Having that in fractured will be so sick... Add that you can also travel between worlds and then by sea... Epic
I had a similar thought but attribute score of 10 is where you don't suffer penalties as far as we know, but anything below 10 gives you negative scores... so with less than 10 strength you hold weapons like an idiot
With 10 strength you hold the weapon normally and with 18 strength you look like you know what you doing with it ...
such a small visual thing but definitely a cool idea in my mind and plays a bit into role-playing.
I am not a game designer but I don't think this outside the realm of possibility or extremely difficult to do, I do understand the game doesn't have a massive team making it though.
I know there has been a lot of MMO hype but not many of them actually seem to be moving up their schedules...
Just a thought since the game will utilise alignments as a key component...
Will there be some spells restricted by this?
I realize the game is aiming for a classless system that allows you to use any skill, with your attributes making them more or less effective. So restricting some spells go against this a bit, but it would be quite interesting to have certain skills unlock with different ratings of alignment...
I believe they said any of the character changes... abomination, angel and lich is end game and will require a lot of work.
Lich characters will be suffering penalties besides, so having a lich tank will be less effective than regular human... As they loose constitution.
Unsure if the Lich retains the use of technology... But sure that staying human allows for its own benefits. Becoming a Lich will not be everyone's choice I think.
I like the idea of making a thief style Lich, I imagine that will be duable since they don't suffer from dex and perception. Creating odd builds is something I enjoy a lot, but we will need to see if this is viable in the future.
We are celebrating mothers day today here in South Africa... And think most of the world also does the second Sunday of May.
Not sure how many mothers follow fractured... But wish all those on here a great day with their mothers!
I am sure that won't be the case, I thought of this question because the idea of having aligned skills would be cool... I don't think every skill and spell would be locked by alignment. The divine powers granted by gods will defiantly be alignment locked since you will need the favor of that particular God.
I doubt the schools of magic and schools of fighting will have alignment locked skills, I was more thinking along the lines of a skill changing or unlocking when you reached a high enough alignment.
Say you reach -10 000 Evil alignment and you have proficiency in a certain school of magic, the two together unlock an ability that compliments each other.
This however was just a thought... The powers given by Gods to me is already a very cool representation of this.
For gameplay reasons the Lich will have pros and cons, resistance to cold but weakness to fire... Increased int but reduced con/char... Increased necromancy. No need for food!
I guess you would want to make a Lich if you plan on making a spellcaster...
I personally plan on making one for a few reason... the challenge of converting, running around as an undead character summoning more undead so cool!
So both aesthetics and gameplay are reasons.
Luckily only my old chest are doing it.... new ones I make do not seem affected.
@Esher Where is it mentioned the divine quests are only for demon to angel progression? as far as I have read it will be available to anyone who gets enough favor with said God
Added on forum for SAGamer.co.za which is a South African gaming site and forum... going to start spreading the news and try and get more SA gamers involved.
@boogis we presume that undead are evil because most games and fantasies place them in that role...
There is information out there which supports there being good Liches... They attain undeath to keep watch over their charges... Protect and teach, possibly to fulfill a noble quest that they know they can complete in their normal lifespan.
So up to you which you choose I guess... But we know this game and its lore will support both.
@Jetah On the main page synopsis it mentions a bit about resources being spread between planets, each will have different trees for example, I remember them mentioning building a house out of resources from say Tartarus but building it on Arboreas will be a labour of love since getting the materials will be hard for a beastman.
Furthermore I kind of see the following with regards to that...
Tartarus will be a great place to monster hunt, so hides, bones and carapaces (mentioned in main page) it will also have loads of stone but since its arid it will have few plants.
Syndesia will have a mix, ore mines are everywhere and trees depending on the biome... along with deer, bears, wolves, rabbits and other possible animal resources, and medium abundance of plants.
Arboreas will have possibly less metal and ore, but a mad abundance of trees plants and such... it is also mentioned that the planet is in harmony regarding nature so over farming might anger the environment somehow. killing too many of a innocent animal might trigger others to hunt you down for instance ( A guess )
So each will have a unique appoach... I like this idea, sick and tired of mmorpgs with the same resources system, this is what makes fractured unique and much more realistic.
p.s how sick is this artwork of demon finding what looks like a demon elephants' graveyard... multi eyed and long tusks...
I think what we must realize here as well is that Fractured is not trying to be like other games...
I prefer that hard work pays off instead of chance....
I saw my brother farm Wow bosses to get a specific mount drop or try farm a drop from a mob that had a 1 in billion chance to drop.
I am sorry but that is the most unfun thing ever....
So I am personally happy this game wants to implement horizontal progression and player crafted items over silly leveling and loot grinding.
That is a great idea... I agree that perhaps it should be something to implement once the taming is achieved and the game is doing well.
I fondly recall final fantasy 7.... Where you had to go out and hunt chocobos.
Once you caught them in battle you could bring them back and breed them.... They were used in races in the gambling casino town.... And you could breed different types, one that could run on water.... And they had different colours.
It was a small part of the game. But it added something small and fun.
Getting that different coloured chocobos was epic... Back when you played in front of the family TV
Well first off as a demon to Angel you will need to change your alignment. That means no more killing the innocent! You'll also need to try get your alignment score up which I imagine won't be easy.
Then the long process of quests and ingredients for the change...
Definitely the goal of my first character... But your rewarded with a brand new race, wonder how this will affect stats.
And what racial skills will be based on demon race.
Anyway... Super excited for the game!!
@Gothix correction turns to ice not dust...
On death effect : unsummon all minions
@Gynz said in Requisite for casting magic:
@Azurael I'd agree with this. I don't like the idea of spells being restricted to armor / weapon choices. It's magic, the stuff that breaks reality. I don't see why the type of hat I have on, or the kind of stick I have in my hand should change what I can do. Magic would be a skill in the same sense that riding a bike is a skill, and while riding a bike in plate armor is certainly more difficult, it's still possible.
A talent to make such things possible makes sense, and I'll be disappointed if there isn't something like it. Restrictions on character building always suck.
I don't mind restrictions based on certain skills, it makes sense that a mage starting out can't hold a sword and shield and then cast spells certain spells..
But if you want to make that character there should be a talent, some maybe called combat casting, or martial casting.
Someone wanting hybrid will choose this, but pure caster won't worry about weapons and will be able to cast more and for more damage... Guy with sword and shield will have the option to shoot magic and then jump into the fight.
