Max players per server/instance/screen?

Is it going to be just another unity "MMO" with <100 maxplayers per server/instance or an actual MMO like Darkfall where you could have 1000 players in a siege without server crashing?

There will be only one server, so, I suppose there should be more than 100 players in the server ^^

Latency exists, maybe they just start off with one EU server because devs are EU

It remains to be seen, but most likely (my guess) 1 server EU, 1 server NA to start with and then if enough players warrant it, expand on that with some other world zone.

@USAINBOLT If I construe that picture right, there is planned to be about 60 servers worldwide. So I presume 100 players max / server would be quite low and only 6000 players in total. Thats quite small playerbase so we could presume it be closer 1000 / server or what you think?

@Tuoni 1000 players split over 3-5 maps is too low

The plan is to have only one server for all players. If some players have latency issues, they will open additional servers in other regions. Due to the way SpatialOS scales, it should be possible to support any number of players, so there's no such thing as max players per server.

Yeah it sounds, but It still can be messed up with wrong decisions. Server administrations easily promises something what they can't actually keep in practise. A lot of people, at the same area, at the same time and the performance problems will start. Very common issue with MMOs.

So you can have 100 or 1000 players fighting in the same spot? Even if server is fine with it, clients will start crashing/freezing/having performance problems unless devs optimize the game for large-scale battles.

I agree, but how do u test a 200 vs 200 fight in Alpha 1? I think we will be around 300 and we wont play at the same time...
Im sure Devs will take an eye on this as the comunity grows...

you dont, but devs should know what size they are aiming for

Huh! didnt think on that...should be an easy way to test it then...we should have an answer about it soon
