What was/is your favorite ARPG and why?

Sometimes it takes me off guard, to me anything with computers is current, I have had multiple consoles dating back to the original pong, so when I talk about Diablo the original its hard to think that there are college students that were born after its release. I take it for granted that I was able to play the progression of the genre as it came. It is wondrous to think what the future holds for gaming, now back to playing Orbus in VR.

For me it has to be Grim Dawn. Finished it 7 times over and still barely got bored of it thanks to how intricate it is.

Diablo I and II -> good story, excellent atmosphere, nicely designed character classes, ample variety in skills, items, monsters.

Diablo 2 was awesome

Diablo 3

I never played Diablo, but i always liked Sacred (I & II).
Interesting characters with many possibilities, giant world, presence of corny humor and easter eggs

Diablo 1 and 2, best game
-
Path of Exile. Easily the best out there atm. As a huge diablo 2 fan, diablo3 was a huge diappointment. PoE is everything D3 should have been. Plus the amount of content is huge with new stuff being added continuously with a very nice community surrounding it

I did play Diablo series and Sacred I end up in Poe love the challenge event.
-
Grim Dawn. I played a shitton of Titan Quest as a tween, and Grim Dawn has just taken the things I used to love and refined them into a truly fun game!

Diablo, because is so nice.

There some game before Diablo guys ^^. It's good yes ! and I'm not counting how many night i used. But I more played this game :
The Four Crystals of Trazere by Mindscape (1992).
To play it you need to use a Dosbox now ^^.It contains all RPG basic in Isometric :
- 4 characters (a bard, a sorcerer, a berseker and an assassin)
- A lot of Labyrinth with magic puzzle and riddles to solves.
- A sorcerer with 4 Actions Runes and 12 Effect Runes (a lot of fun to magic-fan-boy)
- A bard with songs with impact on abilities
- An assassin with a stealth skill
- Stuff like potions, magic helmet, scroll, rings to use
I like to said about this game : Your sorcerer die at the first or the second fight in the first minutes of the game, but at the end, he could kill a legion by himself like a war god (in fact near the end, the 3corps'team are in your bag lol)
Interface of the spell workshop with runes and ingredients :

Older style - Diablo 2
Newer generation - Path of Exile
