What are your toughts on the speed of the development?

So far i have seen an interesting state of an pre-alpha for an 7 month game.
Buying assest from the unity store and using this spatialos as server structure seems to work well for them.

Most times, the problems come from server code issues. So they might be weirdly fast on track?

Funny enough they seem to have very good basic progression, but honestly the entire and graphics is only a very small part of the game. It is easy to show those in a good playable state. Someone can whip up something like the basic gameplay videos in under a month with unity with just starting, but it won't have any depth to it. The hardest part is creating the massive amount of content you need. You have thousands of NPC's that need to be created and have scripting as well as adding any quests.. You also have all the different gameplay systems to add as well. You have to create a crafting system as well and balance all the crafts and how hard they are to harvest. At this point we don't really have anything to really see how far along they actually are because we only saw a basic gameplay video which is fairly easy stage to get to.

I agree that we haven't really seen yet how far along they actually are, but keep in mind Fractured has only been in actual development since August last year. 😛 When you put it in that perspective, they've done quite a lot in just a bit over a half year. The foundation like the procedural generation is there, so it won't be too long before they start working on content.

The development will sharply speed up after the groundwork is completed.

The project is extremely ambitious in terms of "the game not imploding into a glitchy mess" and everyone has to constantly check back with everyone else to be sure all their contributions remain compatible. Once they get past this initial hurdle and have designed a working base game they can plug content into so to speak, I expect to see progress move along much faster.
